Are the current producers ruining Home and Away?

I'm going to burn in hell for this.

What about a story based on the Alton Towers crash?  An amputation is a bit hard to pull off but certainly something similar with the teen group that left a teen character permanently wheelchair bound would open up some massive storyline opprtunities, not to mention some amazing acting challenges for the kids.

I think back to Chris Tate on Emmerdale and how wonderful that character was - bitter and twisted with a hint of vulnerability.  It made for wonderful TV.

A teacher is in a position of authority so it doesnt matter what age the pupil is.  The police would be involved and the teacher would either be fired or suspended.

Actually, I think it does.If the pupil is legally an adult (ie 18 or over), then no crime has been committed since they're not in loco parentis. But yes, the teacher would be fired.

For me personally I think the the show is suffering at the moment I think the stories have dropped in their quality Alot of the things that are happening at Aus pace seem to be very random and very much out of character for some people, It will improve I expect but you can tell when Lucy left and Dan took over I think

It needs a HUGE on-screen clean out. There is so much deadwood. So many characters that haven't worked or who have been let down because of poor, poor writing. The show has never done a huge disaster where multiple main characters die, now is the time. Off screen we all know who need to go...

I know H & A is on about 7 in Oz, but in the UK so is Hollyoaks and though their storylines and acting leave alot to be desired at the moment, they have in the past managed to tell some good hard hitting storylines.

I love HO. Always have, but yeah, it's a shadow of it's former self right now :( If both Kirkwood & Addario left this year that would be an wonderful starting point to rebuild for both soaps.

Technically, yes, legally they can sleep together, however due to the teacher being in a position of authority, it is illegal and charges can be laid - it's sexual harassment, and the teacher would be fired from the Department of Education and Training.

Well, you seem to be contradicting yourself there by saying it's both legal and illegal. The crime you're thinking of is "Sexual intercourse with child between 16 and 18 under special care": Once they're 18, it's not illegal, just professional misconduct.Yes, they'd be fired by the Department but it's not a police matter.

No.

Anything else to add to the discussion? Why don't you think that? What do you enjoy? How does this year compare to previous years? Are you happy with the writing? Are you happy with the stories? Are you disappointed with anything?

I agree, H&A could do with a good cast clearout at the moment, especially amongst the remains of the Braxton household, and many of the teens and 20-somethings. It wouldn't be too much of a stretch to bring in a few interesting foster children for John and Marilyn, Roo or Irene. Get the series to start focusing around these households again and the conflicts between the generations.

H&A is hopefully at a transitional stage. While I never hated the Braxtons with a vengence, I wasn't their biggest fan either, but the series feels empty without them (because it mostly revolved around them). Despite their faults, they became interesting layered characters. We need more well-defined characters, who struggle with problems that the audience can relate to (minus the fantasy violence and lives in jeapordy on a daily basis). If they need inspiration, look back at any of the younger characters pre-2000.
