Why didn't they have many older characters as regulars in 90s

Forgot about Roo, she must be 43 or 44 now.

When H&A began Alf and Don were still relatively young in their earlyish 40s and Roo was a teenager and when Maz first appeared in 1989 she was about 20.

If Don ever returned he would be one of the oldies now alongside Alf at both 69.

I think people forget that Don & Alf were younger than 50 because Norman Coburn is older than Don would be, so he does look older than the age Don was.

Leah is 35 exactly, born February 1979.

Didn't Leah celebrate her 21st onscreen though? When she took her top off at the posh restaurant in Yabbie Creek? She arrived in March 2000, so she'd have been 21 already going by that date.

I know she celebrated her 30th in 2009 though.

Considering how much of a tearaway Bobby was when the show began, I remember the original broadcasts in the UK of many of these eps and certainly remember Bobby aged about 23 in 1993 but acting 40. 5 years of a evolving of a character who I still miss now.
