Episode 21

Carly brings out her 1 year-old daughter, Philippa from the car before heading to the front door.
Carly: Nanny can't wait to see you.
*Carly opens the door*
Carly: Hello? Anyone home?
Pippa: Carly! Oh, come here sweetheart.
*Carly and Pippa hug*
Carly: I thought I'd come and stay for a few weeks.
Pippa: Why didn't you call? I could've organised the spare room.
Carly: I wanted to surprise you. *smiles*
Pippa: Well, you sure did. *to Philippa* Aren't you just adorable, Philippa.
*Philippa gurgles*
Pippa: She's got your eyes, Carly.
Carly: And Ben's nose.
Pippa: Do you want a cuppa?
Carly: No thanks. I think I might put Philippa down for a nap.
*As Carly and Philippa head into the spare room, Finlay arrives home from school*
Finlay: Hi, Pippa.
Pippa: Fin, are you able to run the kiosk this afternoon?
Finlay: I thought it was Jodi's shift.
Pippa: Jodi's unable to her shift. She complained of having headache.
Finlay: Well, she did this to herself.
Pippa: Am I missing something, Fin?
Finlay: Sarah and Tug had a huge argument at school today. Jodi was the cause of their argument.
Pippa: How come?
*Jodi comes downstairs with red and swollen eyes. She has been crying*
Jodi: Tug and I had a one night stand and I'm having his baby. *sniffles*
Pippa: Oh, sweetheart.
Finlay: Why would you do that to Sarah? I thought she was your friend.
Jodi: I don't think she'll ever be my friend again.
Finlay: WELL, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT AFTER HAVING SEX WITH HER BOYFRIEND?! YOU ARE DISGUSTING, JODI!
Pippa: Fin, that's enough thank you.
Finlay: I'm sorry, Pippa. But I have no sympathy for Jodi! *storms out of the house*
*Jodi sobs*
Pippa: Sweetheart, it's going to be okay.
Jodi: I need to be left alone for a while. Can I go to the beach?
*Pippa nods her head sympathetically*
Jodi: Thank you. *leaves*
*Carly returns from the spare room*
Carly: Where's Sal?
Pippa: Uh, she said she was going to the surf club with her friend after school.
Carly: I can't wait to see her.
(At the surf club, Sally and Kate are at the pool table when Gloria walks over.)
Gloria: Hey, Sal.
*Before Sally can speak, Kate rudely interjects*
Kate: Um, we're playing pool so go away!
Gloria: I wasn't talking to you, Crazy Kate! *to Sally* Are you going on the Canberra camp?
Sally: Yes, I am.
Kate: Can you like go away?
Gloria: Why don't you just shut up?!
Kate: NO, I WON'T ACTUALLY!
Sally: Stop it both of you!
Gloria: YOU'RE A TROUBLEMAKER, KATE!
Kate: AND YOU'RE A PATHETIC LOSER!
*Finlay storms over*
Finlay: WILL YOU GIRLS SHUT UP AND STOP CARRYING ON LIKE BABIES?! IF YOU CONTINUE CARRYING ON LIKE 5 YEAR-OLDS, THEN YOU'RE BOTH OUT OF HERE! UNDERSTOOD?!
Kate: I'm gone! *slams the pool cue on the table and storms out*
Sally: What's got into you, Finlay? I've never seen you this mad.
Finlay: I'm sorry, Sal. It's just that I'm really frustrated with Jodi at the moment.
Sally: Did you two have a fight?
Finlay: I found out that she's pregnant with Tug's baby!
Sally: Sarah's furious at both of them.
Finlay: You know about this?
Sally: Jodi told me last week and the whole of Summer Bay High knows now.
Finlay: I know. Well, I have no sympathy for Jodi. She did this to herself!
*Sally looks sad*
Sally: I better head home.
Finlay: See you.

When Sally returns home, she sees Carly standing near the living room.
Sally: Carly!
Carly: Sal, come here you.
*they hug*
Sally: When did you get here?
Carly: This afternoon. I came with Philippa.
Sally: Where is she?
Carly: In the spare room having a nap before dinner.
*Jodi walks in*
Jodi: Where's Pippa?
Carly: She had to collect her cake tins from the diner.
Jodi: Oh. *to Sally* Fin still mad at me?
Sally: I'm afraid so.
Jodi: *sarcastically* Great! Everyone hates me now!
Sally: I don't hate you.
*Jodi runs upstairs*
Carly: What's with her?
Sally: I'll tell you later. So, how's Ben?
Carly: Ben who? *looks upset*
Sally: Your husband.
*Carly starts to cry*
Sally: Carly?
Carly: Don't tell Pippa this, but Ben had an affair with some woman in Fremantle.
Sally: Are you serious?!
Carly: That's why I came back to Summer Bay. I'm thinking of divorcing him.
*Sally hugs Carly as she sobs*

Episode 22

The next morning (Tuesday), Sally is walking to school with Kate.
Sally: Carly's actually thinking of divorcing Ben.
Kate: I would divorce someone too if they cheated on me with some filthy slag.
Sally: She hasn't told Pippa yet. Anyway, Fin's not talking to Jodi.
Kate: Let me guess. She's on Sarah's side.
Sally: Yes. Poor Jodi is so upset.
Kate: Such a shame.
*They arrive at Summer Bay High*
Sally: I just wish you and Gloria would be friends.
Kate: Not gonna happen.
Sally: But...
Kate: I hate that slag.
*Sally sighs*
Kate: But I'll still be your best friend.
Sally: Thanks.
*Kym stalks over*
Kym: I never thought I'd say this, but your foster sister is a bigger s**t than I thought!
Kate: Kym, go be a bitch somewhere else!
Kym: *ignoring Kate* Having a one night stand with her best friend's boyfriend. That's just the pits!
Sally: Come on, Kate. Let's go. *glares at Kym as they leave*
Kym: You and Jodi are both pathetic! *smirks*
(Later that morning, Carly puts Philippa down for a nap before heading downstairs to see Jodi eating a packet of salt and vinegar chips)
Carly: Hey. I thought you would be working at the kiosk.
Jodi: Not until this arvo.
Carly: Do you want to talk about it?
Jodi: No. I'll just cry again.
Carly: You made a mistake.
Jodi: A mistake that cost me big time. I seriously think that everyone would be happy if I had an abortion.
Carly: Don't think like that! I'm sure you'll be a great mum.
Jodi: You think so, Carly?
Carly: I know you will. *smiles*
Jodi: Thank you. I really needed to hear that.
Carly: No worries.
*Jodi hugs Carly*

Sally and Gloria head to the surf club after school.
Gloria: I thought the bitch would be with you.
Sally: No, she had to go to Yabbie Creek with her mother.
Gloria: Good riddance! I'll never forgive her for what she put me and you through. I'm very surprised you're being best friends with her again.
Sally: This is her last chance. If she screws up this time, me and her are done.
Gloria: I sure hope so. Do you think we can still hang out when I move to the city?
Sally: We could catch up one Saturday a month or talk on the phone.
Gloria: I like the way that sounds, Sal.
*Sally and Gloria enter the surf club*
Sally: Hi, Jodi.
Jodi: I'm glad to see you two hanging out together again.
Gloria: You don't like Crazy Kate, do you?
Jodi: I can't stand her!
*Kym walks in*
Gloria: Ugh! Here's trouble.
Kym: Well, well, well. If it isn't the knocked up trollop! *smirks at Jodi*
Jodi: Shut up, Kym!
Kym: Now, why would I do that? Everyone in Summer Bay knows you're a cheap s**t willing to bang every guy you meet!
Jodi: If you don't turn around and leave RIGHT NOW...
Kym: Face facts, Jodi. You're a disgrace!
*Sally has had enough!*
Sally: Excuse me, Gloria. *goes over to Kym and grabs her by the hair!*
Kym: OW! Sally, what are you doing?!
Sally: I should've done this a long time ago! *drags Kym outside by her hair*
*Gloria and Jodi race outside*
Kym: I'm sorry. Please let me go!
Sally: You've had this coming for a long time, Kym Stevens!
*Sally drags Kym to the rock pool*
Kym: Sally, DON'T!
Sally: Enjoy your swim!
*Sally throws Kym straight into the water!*
Gloria: Go, Sal!
Jodi: *to Kym* Serves you right for being a bitch!
*A humiliated Kym growls angrily as Sally and the others walk away laughing*

Episode 23

On Thursday morning, Sally and several other students are out the front of the school to be marked off the roll. The coach taking them to Canberra is already there.
Miss Nelson: Okay. Sally Fletcher?
Sally: Here.
Roxanne: Board the coach.
*Sally enters the coach and sits next to Kate in the back row*
Kate: I hope we get to sleep in the same cabin.
Sally: Same.
*Gloria boards the coach and sits next to Sally*
Kate: Move!
Gloria: I'm allowed to sit with Sally, Kate!
Kate: Um, no. Now, get lost!
Sally: Stop arguing. I want to have a good time in Canberra.
*Nicole sits next to Gloria*
Nicole: I'm looking forward to this.
Sally: Same here.
*Miss Nelson and Roxanne board the coach as the students are seated*
Miss Nelson: Now, I want everyone to be on their best behaviour. If anyone misbehaves during the camp, I will ring Mr Fisher and he'll drive down to Canberra and get you.
*Kate scoffs*
Miss Nelson: Is everyone clear on that?
Students: Yes.
Roxanne: We all set?
Students: Yeah.
*The coach drives out the school*
(As they drive into the city, Gloria sees Steve Wiley and Danielle Miller from Hartley High.)
Gloria: Hey Sal?
Sally: Yes?
Gloria: Those people go to Hartley High. *points at Steve and Danielle*
Sally: Nice.
*Kate rolls her eyes*
Angel: Is that the school you're going to next year, Gloria?
Gloria: Yeah, it is. *smiles*
Nicole: Where are we going to first when we arrive in Canberra, Miss Miller?
Roxanne: Questacon.
Sally: This is going to be awesome.
Angel: I'm with you on that one. It's just a pity Shane and Damian couldn't come.
Kate: Shane's probably finding a new girlfriend.
Angel: Shut up, bitch!
*Kate smirks*
(They stop at McDonalds in Sutton Forest for lunch)
*Sally sits at a table with Gloria.*
Gloria: I hope we get to share a room tonight.
Sally: Me too.
*Nicole walks over to them*
Nicole: It sucks Julia couldn't come.
Gloria: She said she wouldn't go if Crazy Kate was going.
Sally: Kate's starting to irritate me.
Nicole: Why? *sits at the table where Sally and Gloria are*
Sally: She's just being a cow.
Gloria: Here she comes now.
*Kate walks over*
Kate: Bestie, can I sit next you?
Sally: Sure. *looks away before pulling a face*
Kate: Are you okay?
Sally: I'm fine.
Kate: Just making sure. *smiles*
Miss Nelson: Okay everyone. Back to the coach.
*Sally and the other students leave McDonalds to return to the coach*

At Summer Bay House, Carly has put Philippa down for a nap when she sees Pippa come out of Jodi's room.
Carly: How's Jodi?
Pippa: She's off to do her shift at the kiosk.
Carly: Ah.
Pippa: Sweetheart, is there something wrong?
Carly: What do you mean?
Pippa: Carly, I know something's up.
*Carly sighs sadly*
Carly: Ben cheated on me with some trollop from Fremantle.
Pippa: Oh no.
Carly: That's why I came back to the Bay. I wanted to stay with you until I go through with the divorce proceedings
Pippa: You're actually thinking of divorcing him?
Carly: What he did was unforgivable. I want full custody of Philippa as well.
Pippa: Oh sweetheart, come here.
*Carly hugs Pippa before crying softly*
(At the surf club, Finlay goes over to Jodi.)
Finlay: Jodi, can we talk please?
Jodi: *bitterly* Why? You'll just call me disgusting again.
Finlay: I was just angry at what you and Tug did, that's all.
Jodi: I'm having a baby, Fin. That part couldn't be helped.
Finlay: You do realise Sarah may never forgive you.
Jodi: I know!
Finlay: Don't snap at me, Jodi!
Jodi: THEN DON'T COME IN HERE AND THROW MY MISTAKE IN MY FACE!
*Finlay looks shocked*
Finlay: Jodi...
Jodi: Oh, just get out!
*Finlay walks away upset as Jodi sighs sadly*

That afternoon, Sally and her classmates arrive in Canberra.
Sally: We're finally here.
Gloria: I know. This is great!
Kate: Tell me about it.
Roxanne: Okay everyone. We're on our way to Questacon.
*They arrive at Questacon*
Miss Nelson: You all need to be on your best behaviour.
*Kate rolls her eyes at Miss Nelson*
Miss Nelson: There was no need for that, Kate Desmond!
*Sally and Gloria shake their heads as they enter Questacon*
Gloria: I wish Kate didn't come.
Sally: She's an embarrassment.
Gloria: She's not going to ruin this camp.
*After spending an hour in Questacon, Sally and her classmates return to the coach and head to the Gold Creek Tourist Resort*
Sally: I hope this place is nice.
Kate: I hope so.
*They arrive at the Gold Creek Tourist Resort*
Roxanne: Okay. Miss Nelson and I are going to organise which rooms you'll be sleeping in.
*Once Sally and the others get off the coach, Miss Nelson starts organising room allocations*
Miss Nelson: Okay. Sally Fletcher, Claire Ryan and Maria Purcell will be in Room 4.
*Kate looks annoyed*
Miss Nelson: Gloria James, Nicole Mullins, Angel Brooks and Kate Desmond will be in Room 5.
Kate: I'm not sharing a room with those losers!
Nicole: You're no Sunday afternoon picnic either, Kate! Now, shut your mouth!
Miss Nelson: Kate, you're not sharing a room with Sally and that's final.
Kate: Get stuffed! You're a f***ing bitch!
Miss Nelson: KEEP GOING AND I'LL RING MR FISHER!
*Kate slaps Miss Nelson across the face before storming off*
(Sally goes to the room she's staying in, with Claire and Maria not far behind)
Sally: I can't believe Kate slapped Miss Nelson again.
Claire: Is she obsessed with you or something?
Sally: Must be.
Maria: Aren't you girls supposed to be best friends?
Sally: I'm very close to ending the friendship altogether.
Maria: I must say I'm quite impressed with how you threw Kym Stevens into the pool the other day. *laughs*
Claire: She's not so popular now.
*Sally laughs*
(Meanwhile, Kate is arguing with Nicole over who should sleep on the top bunk.)
Kate: I PUT MY BAG THERE FIRST!
Nicole: No, I did!
Kate: I DID!
Nicole: No, I did!
Angel: Only one way to settle this.
*Angel throws Kate's bag on the ground and places Nicole's on the top bunk!*
Kate: THAT'S MY BAG YOU KNOCKED OVER!
Angel: You deserve nothing, Kate. You're a troublemaking bitch!
Gloria: Yeah. We don't like you!
Kate: Feelings mutal! Like I care about a bunch of retards like you!
Nicole: THAT IS SO DISRESPECTFUL!
*Roxanne enters*
Roxanne: It's time for dinner.
*Gloria, Angel and Nicole leave the room*
Kate: You bitches will pay! *scowls*

IN THE NEXT EPISODE:
- Sally and her classmates stay the night in Canberra before they head to Parliament House and the Australian Institute of Sport. Meanwhile, Finlay and Jodi make up.

Episode 24

Sally and the other students are having dinner at the restaurant.
*Kate sits next to Sally*
Kate: Sally, it's awful in there!
Sally: What's the matter?
Kate: Angel, Nicole and Gloria are bullying me!
Nicole: You liar!
Kate: YOU DID!
*Maria Purcell rolls her eyes*
Nicole: Sal, she's the one that had a go at us.
Sally: I don't know what to believe anymore. *gets up from the table*
*Claire goes after her*
Claire: You okay, Sal?
Sally: I'm over Kate fighting with my friends.
Claire: I take it you're frustrated with her.
Sally: You have no idea, Claire.
*Maria enters their room*
Maria: That Kate is a real bitch!
Sally: What's she done now?
Maria: She's just being a whiny pest! No wonder people can't stand her!
Sally: I will admit that she stood up for me when Kym was giving me a hard time and when Gloria and Julia had a go at me, but she's taking it too far.
Claire: I'm so glad I left Kym's group. She's a user and abuser!
Maria: You know what, ladies? I think we should watch TV and give each other makeovers.
Sally: Sounds like fun.
(In their room, Kate is painting her nails when Gloria, Nicole and Angel arrive back from dinner.)
Nicole: The food was disgusting.
Gloria: Tell me about it.
*Kate snatches Nicole's blue scrunchie before putting it in her hair*
Nicole: Excuse me! That's my scrunchie you just snatched!
Kate: So?
Angel: So, it isn't yours! Give it back to Nicole.
Kate: *scoffs* I wanna wear it in my hair!
Nicole: That scrunchie belongs to me, not you! Now give it back, Kate!
Kate: Rack off! *smirks*
*Gloria rips the scrunchie off Kate's hair before giving it back to Nicole*
Kate: HEY!
Gloria: YOU DON'T TAKE THINGS THAT DON'T BELONG TO YOU!
*Kate pushes Gloria over*
Kate: IF I WANNA WEAR THAT DAMN SCRUNCHIE, I WILL!
Angel: It's Nicole's scrunchie!
*Kate tips out Angel's suitcase*
Angel: You little bitch!
Kate: I'm quite the little bitch, aren't I? *smirks at the three girls* You're all pathetic!
Nicole: You can clean that up now!
Kate: Angel should clean it up as it's her stuff!
Angel: Come on, girls. Let's visit our friends before it's bed time.
Gloria: Good idea. What time do we go to bed?
Angel: 11. I think that's what Miss Miller said.
Nicole: Yeah. That's what she said.
*Gloria knocks on the door Sally's sleeping in*
Sally: Come in.
*Gloria walks in crying*
Sally: What's wrong, Gloria?
Gloria: Crazy Kate! She's making life hell in there. I don't want to stay in the same room as her.
Maria: You wanna swap with me?
Gloria: Are you sure?
Maria: I think it's best that you be in here with Sally. After all, you girls are best friends. I can handle that bitch Kate.
(When Kate finds out that Gloria is now sharing with Sally, she throws a fit.)
Kate: Why does SHE get to share with Sally and I don't?!
Roxanne: Kate, that's none of your business.
Kate: I want to share with Sally!
Roxanne: That's tough, Kate. You're staying in your room and that's that!
*Kate goes to slap Roxanne. However, Roxanne grabs Kate's hand just in time*
Roxanne: Don't you even think of slapping me, young lady! You're just lucky Miss Nelson hasn't charged you with assault after you slapped her twice! Now grow up and behave like a 14 year-old! *storms out of the room, slamming the door behind her*
*Kate pulls her hair in frustration*
Nicole: Someone got told off! *laughs*
*Kate storms over to Nicole and grabs her*
Kate: YOU SHUT YOUR MOUTH, BITCH!
*Maria pulls Kate off Nicole and punches her in the face*
Maria: LEAVE HER ALONE!
*Kate scowls as she holds her jaw in pain*

The next morning (Friday), Sally and her classmates are having breakfast.
Angel: How was your sleep last night, Sal?
Sally: Peaceful actually.
Nicole: Maria punched Kate in the face last night.
Sally: Really? Did that put a stop to her behaviour?
Angel: No! She argued with us over having the TV on while we slept.
Gloria: I'm glad I got out of there.
Sally: I hope she doesn't start anything when we go to Parliament House.
Nicole: Where is Kate anyway?
Angel: Who cares?
*Kate arrives with her hair dyed blonde*
Sally: Kate, what did you do to your hair?
Kate: You like it, Sally?
Sally: It's nice.
Kate: I needed a change.
*Gloria, Nicole and Angel look at each other with disinterest*
Kate: And I don't care what the retards think. *smirks at the three girls*
Nicole: If you call me that again, I'm gonna smack your face so hard!
*Kate spills some milk over Nicole's skirt*
Kate: Oops! *pretends to look shocked*
Nicole: Bitch!
*Sally just shakes her head*
(When breakfast is over, Sally and the others pack their bags before they board the coach bound for Parliament House.)
Miss Nelson: I want everyone on their best behaviour while we tour Parliament House.
Students: Yes, Miss Nelson.
*they arrive at Parliament House. As they enter, Kate notices some students from her old high school*
Kate: Hey guys!
*One of the boys, Andre, notices her*
Andre: KATIE! *races over to Kate and hugs her tight*
*Sally and Gloria look at each other*
Sally: Kate was told on the coach that she had to stay with us.
Gloria: She just makes her own rules!
Sally: If she gets in trouble, it's not my fault. I'm really starting to get frustrated with her!
*No one notices that Kate is missing until they start touring the Lower House*
Roxanne: Where's Kate?
Sally: Talking to some of her friends from Port Macquarie High.
*Roxanne looks annoyed*
Roxanne: *to Miss Nelson* I specificly told everyone that they had to stay in the group!
Miss Nelson: I know. She just doesn't listen to ANYONE! I'm fed up with it!
*Sally looks annoyed as well*
Gloria: Sal?
Sally: Kate's a selfish cow!
Claire: Couldn't agree with you more.
(When the tour is over, Miss Nelson goes over to Kate who has a huge smile on her face.)
Miss Nelson: You missed the whole tour, Kate. I'm very disappointed in you.
Kate: Seeing my friends from my old high school is more important that seeing the dumb old Prime Minister!
Miss Nelson: *through clenched teeth* Get in the coach!
*Kate laughs as Sally walks over to her*
Kate: Sally, guess what?
Sally: What?
*Kate whispers to Sally what her and Andre did*
Sally: You didn't?!
Kate: I sure did.
*Sally gets on the coach with a disgusted look on her face*

That afternoon, Jodi returns from the surf club to find Finlay watching TV.
Finlay: Jodi, can we talk?
Jodi: No. *looks angry*
Finlay: Please?
Jodi: Fine. Go ahead.
Finlay: I'm sorry for having a go at you about your pregnancy.
Jodi: I accept your apology.
Finlay: You sure?
Jodi: I can't stay mad forever.
Finlay: Me neither.
*they hug*
Jodi: Sal comes home tonight.
Finlay: I hope she had a great time in Canberra.
(Meanwhile, Sally and the other students are at the Australian Institute of Sport.)
Kate: What's so good about this place?
Sally: Kate, just enjoy it.
Kate: Sally, as my best friend we should be doing something wild.
Sally: Wild?
Kate: Yeah. We can like go to the city and rage!
Gloria: SHUT UP!
Kate: I wasn't talking to you, Gloria! YOU shut up!
Gloria: You do nothing but cause trouble for everyone! You're a killjoy! Come on, Sal.
*Gloria leads Sally away, causing Kate to blow a huge gasket!*
Kate: SHE'S MY BEST FRIEND!
Roxanne: Right, Kate. You can go back to the coach! I'm sick of your behaviour!
*Kate storms off*
Miss Nelson: Okay. We'll be leaving in 15 minutes.
(Later that afternoon, Sally and the others stop at the McDonalds in Sutton Forest as they make their way back to Summer Bay.)
Sally: I'm so hungry.
Nicole: Me too.
*They see Kate sit at a table on her own*
Angel: The bleached blonde troublemaker is on her own.
Gloria: I don't feel sorry for her.
Nicole: Blonde hair doesn't even suit her.
*Sally just laughs*

That night, Pippa and Jodi are waiting outside the school for Sally to return from Canberra.
Pippa: It's nearly quarter past 7. Sal should've been back by now.
Jodi: They probably got stuck in traffic.
Pippa: I think that's the coach now.
*the coach drives into the parking lot*
Jodi: Come on, Sally.
*They see Kate come out*
Jodi: Oh my god. *laughs*
Pippa: What?
Jodi: Kate dyed her hair blonde.
Pippa: She looks unhappy too.
*Sally races over*
Sally: Hi! *hugs both Pippa and Jodi*
Pippa: How was Canberra, sweetheart?
Sally: I had a great time.
Jodi: So, what's the go with Kate's hair?
Sally: I'll tell you all about it when we go home.
*Kate watches them leave*
Kate: *thinking to herself* I'm sorry, Sally.

IN THE NEXT EPISODE:
- Desperate to keep her friendship with Sally, Kate resorts to shoplifting. Meanwhile, Gloria invites Sally on a day out in the city.

Episode 25

Sally is getting ready for bed when Carly enters the bedroom.
Carly: So, how was Canberra?
Sally: It was awesome. Well, except for Kate misbehaving.
Carly: This Kate girl reminds me of Alison Patterson.
Sally: I'm actually thinking of ending our friendship. Her behaviour has become unbearable.
Carly: I wouldn't want a friend like that either.
*Pippa enters*
Pippa: Sal, Gloria's on the phone.
Sally: What does she want at 9 o'clock at night?
Carly: Better find out. *smiles*
*Sally heads downstairs to answer the phone*
Sally: Hi, Gloria.
Gloria: Hey Sal. I was wondering if you wanted to hang out with me tomorrow. I'm going to the city.
Sally: I'd love to go to the city with you.
Gloria: Cool. I can't wait for it.
Sally: I guess I'll see you tomorrow.
Gloria: You sure will. Good night, Sal.
Sally: Good night. *hangs up the phone*
(At Kate's house, Joy is lecturing her about her behaviour on the Canberra camp)
Joy: I cannot believe you dyed your hair, Kate! Blonde hair doesn't suit you at all!
Kate: It's my hair and I can do what I want with it!
Joy: Don't sass me, my girl! And what's this I hear about you being naughty at Parliament House?!
Kate: I was talking to my old friends at Port Macquarie High.
Joy: Like who?!
Kate: Andre, Melissa, Jess and a few others.
Joy: The idea of this school camp was for you to get an education and not behave like a spoiled brat!
Kate: You're SUPPOSED to be on MY side! I'm your daughter!
Joy: I'm well aware of that, but you need to stop this behaviour! Do you want to move again?!
Kate: No! I don't want to leave my best friend Sally!
Joy: That's what else is concerning me. Your friendship with Sally Fletcher has become an obsession, Kate. It's unhealthy.
Kate: I'm just trying to stop her being friends with psychotic misfits like Gloria James and Angel Brooks!
Joy: Just go to bed, Kate. We'll talk tomorrow.
*Kate stalks off to her room as Joy sighs in despair*

On Saturday morning, Sally meets Gloria at the bus stop near the diner.
Sally: I can't wait for today!
Gloria: Me too, Sal!
Sally: So, what are we going to do in the city?
Gloria: We're gonna shop and do other stuff.
Sally: Like what?
Gloria: You'll just have to wait and see.
*Kate heads to the bus stop*
Kate: Hey Sally. How are you today, bestie? *hugs Sally as she smirks at Gloria*
Sally: I'm good.
Kate: What are you doing today?
Sally: Gloria and I are going to the city.
*Kate looks really put out*
Kate: I see. And you didn't even invite me. I thought you were my best friend, Sally!
Sally: I am. It's just...
Gloria: *interjecting* I invited Sally out because I wanted to spend time with her as she is MY best friend also, Crazy Kate. Like, grow up!
Kate: YOU ARE TRYING TO TURN SALLY AGAINST ME, GLORIA! IT'S NOT RIGHT AND NOT FAIR!
*the bus arrives*
Sally: The bus is here.
Kate: I'll get the next one!
*Gloria glares at Kate before her and Sally board the bus*
Kate: *to herself* No one will stop me being friends with Sally!
(An hour later, Kate is at the Yabbie Creek Mall looking at an expensive pair of gold hoop earrings at Prouds)
Kate: I'm sure Sally will like those.
*Kate snatches the earrings from the counter without paying for them and leaves*
Kate: *thinking to herself* I hope you like my present, Sally.
*Kate then leaves the mall and heads back to the bus stop*
Security guard: Excuse me, Miss?
Kate: What?
Security guard: I'm afraid you'll have to come with me.
*As Kate sees the bus coming, she knees the security guard in the groin before taking off*
Kate: *calls out* You don't have anything on me!
*the security guard groans in pain*

In the city, Sally and Gloria are enjoying themselves walking around and having a look at the stores.
Gloria: I'm having so much fun.
Sally: Me too.
Gloria: And we met some cool people at the Church Street café.
Sally: We sure did. City high school students are so cool!
Gloria: So are we Summer Bay High students. *smiles*
Sally: It sucks you're leaving soon.
Gloria: I know.
Sally: I won't have a best friend anymore.
Gloria: What about Kate?
Sally: I'm starting to get sick of her. She's not really a good friend.
Gloria: I'm glad you're noticing for yourself what Kate Desmond is really like.
*Sally and Gloria put their arms around each other*
Sally: I'm glad we're best friends again. *smiles*
Gloria: So am I. *smiles back*
(When Sally returns home later that afternoon, she finds Kate sitting at the table.)
Kate: Hey Sally. How was the city?
Sally: It was so much fun. I met some amazing people and had a wonderful day overall. What brings you here?
Kate: I wanted to give you something as an apology for my outbursts in Canberra and at the bus stop. Here. *gives Sally a box*
*Sally opens it to find the gold hooped earrings Kate stole from Prouds earlier that day*
Sally: Kate, those earrings are beautiful.
Kate: You like them?
Sally: Of course I do. Thanks for getting them for me. *hugs Kate*
*Kate lets out a sigh of relief*

Episode 26

As Sally is clearing the table that night, she sees Pippa watching the local news bulletin.
Female newsreader: Police are searching for thief who stole a pair of gold earrings from Prouds Jewellers at the Yabbie Creek Mall earlier today. A security guard was kneed in the groin as he tried to apprehend the thief, who ran off. The thief is a female described as being 167 centimetres tall with long blonde hair.
*Sally hears this and goes over to Pippa*
Sally: It can't be true.
Pippa: What?
Sally: Those gold earrings are the exact ones that Kate bought for me.
Pippa: Are you absolutely sure, Sal?
*Sally gives Pippa the earrings*
Pippa: You're right. They are the exact same ones.
Sally: I think Kate stole them.
Pippa: Come to think of it. Kate didn't have a receipt when she brought the earrings over.
Sally: What are you saying?
Pippa: I'm saying that you're right. Kate actually stole the earrings.
*Sally looks shocked and upset*
(Meanwhile, Kate arrives at the Meg Bowman memorial garden.)
Kate: Time to give this place a makeover!
*Kate starts cutting up the flowers with some garden shears before knocking over a framed picture of Meg which smashes into pieces*
Kate: Now to add some colour!
*Kate vandalises the footpath and spray paints some disgusting words about Jodi*
Kate: My work here is done! *smirks*

The next morning (Sunday), Alf knocks on the door of Summer Bay House furiously.
Alf: Pip, you've got to come quick!
Pippa: Alf, what's wrong?
Alf: Some flamin' vandals destroyed the Meg Bowman memorial garden!
Pippa: Oh no.
*Sally, Jodi and Damian head downstairs*
Damian: What's up?
Pippa: That memorial garden honouring Meg Bowman has been vandalised.
Jodi: You're joking?!
Sally: That's so cruel! Meg was a nice girl and a good friend!
Damian: This I've got to see.
*They arrive at the Meg Bowman memorial garden to find the damage*
Sally: Jodi, don't look.
*However, Jodi sees the disgusting names that Kate displayed on the footpath and is quite shaken up*
Damian: You alright, Jodi?
*Jodi breaks down crying*
Sally: Come here. *hugs Jodi as she sobs*
*Kate sees this and shows no emotion*
Kate: *to herself* You got what you deserved, Jodi.

Episode 27

On Monday, Sally finds Jodi laying on the couch watching the Today Show.
Sally: Jodi?
Jodi: Oh, good morning Sal. *looks sleepy*
Sally: Did you sleep down here last night?
Jodi: I've only had about two hours sleep. I just had a lot on my mind.
Sally: Who could do such a terrible thing?
Jodi: Meg Bowman would be turning in her grave.
Sally: I know. Especially the disgusting things that were spray painted about you.
Jodi: There's no way Sarah did this. I know she's mad at me for my one night stand with Tug, but she has more common sense.
Sally: It can't be Angel either.
Jodi: I'm not doing my shift at the surf club this morning.
Sally: Jodi, don't take this stuff seriously.
Jodi: One of the disgusting messages said, "You and your baby should be murdered." *looks scared*
*Sally hugs Jodi*
Sally: If I find out who did this, they'll be sorry.
(When Sally arrives at school, she sees Peter and Joy leave Fisher's office.)
Sally: Hi, Mr and Mrs Desmond.
Peter: Hello, Sally. *looks concerned*
Sally: Where's Kate?
*Peter and Joy look at each other*
Joy: There's something you need to know, Sally.
Sally: Is something wrong?
Joy: You know those earrings Kate supposedly bought for you? She did in fact steal them from Prouds.
Sally: I knew that. She didn't have a receipt.
Peter: That's not all. She told us that she used your name to ring up a high school in the city to stop them from enrolling a future student.
Sally: She admitted that to me.
Peter: Kate also...
Sally: What?
*Peter and Joy look at each other with worry as they prepare to tell Sally what Kate did to the Meg Bowman memorial garden*
(Sally heads into class looking angry and betrayed)
Gloria: Sal, are you okay?
Sally: I'm just fine, thanks!
Gloria: No, you're not. Tell me what's wrong.
Sally: I found out who destroyed the memorial garden in honour of our friend, Meg Bowman.
Gloria: Who?
Sally: Kate Desmond.
Gloria: Crazy Kate?! *looks outraged*
Sally: How could she do that?!
Gloria: What are you going to do about it?
Sally: I know EXACTLY what I'm going to do, Gloria. I'm going to give that bitch a piece of my mind!

Sally arrives at Kate's house after school, ready to confront her.
*Sally knocks on the door*
Kate: Come in.
*Sally walks in and closes the door*
Kate: Hey Sally. How is my best friend?
*Sally storms over to Kate and slaps her very hard across the face*
Sally: You! You pathetic excuse of a human being! How could you vandalise a memorial garden that was dedicated to a much-loved member of the Summer Bay community?! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO MEG BOWMAN WAS?! NO, YOU DON'T AND YOU PROBABLY DON'T CARE EITHER! MEG BOWMAN WAS THE MOST LOVING, RESPECTFUL AND HONEST PEOPLE YOU COULD EVER MEET! DO YOU KNOW WHAT SHE DIED FROM, KATE?! SHE DIED FROM LEUKEMIA AFTER FIGHTING THE DISEASE UNTIL THE END! WHY DID YOU DO IT?!
*For once, Kate is lost for words*
Kate: I...
Sally: YOU JUST DID IT TO MAKE YOURSELF FEEL IMPORTANT! AND HOW DARE YOU SAY SUCH VILE THINGS ABOUT MY FOSTER SISTER AND HER UNBORN BABY! YES, JODI MADE A RISKY MISTAKE BUT SHE IS FAR FROM A FLITHY S**T AND A MAN STEALER! *now crying* AND YOU CAN TAKE THESE EARRINGS YOU STOLE AND SHOVE THEM UP YOUR BACKSIDE! *throws the earrings at Kate*
Kate: *now crying herself* Sally, I'm really sorry. I just wanted you to still be my best friend.
Sally: Are you joking?! You did all those things to remain my friend?
*Kate nods*
Sally: You're sick!
Kate: You don't mean that.
Sally: Oh, yes I do! And just to let you know, our friendship is FINISHED! We are NO LONGER best friends!
Kate: Sally, please. Can't we work this out?
Sally: NO! YOU RUINED OUR FRIENDSHIP WITH YOUR SELFISHNESS, NOT ME!
*Sally leaves the house*
Kate: Sally, come back!
*Kate collapses on the ground sobbing*

Episode 28

Sally stomps inside her house, slamming the door behind her.
Jodi: Sally, what's the matter?
Sally: I know who vandalised the memorial garden!
Jodi: Who?
Sally: Kate Desmond.
Jodi: Are you sure?
Sally: Yes. Her parents told me everything.
Jodi: Oh, I'm so sorry.
Sally: Don't be. It's not your fault.
Jodi: I can't believe that little s**t! You know what? I'm going to do this the right way!
*Jodi gets up from the couch and walks out of the house*
Sally: Are you coming back?
Jodi: Yeah.
(Jodi heads straight to Kate's house)
Jodi: YOU BITCH!
Kate: Jodi, please let me explain...
Jodi: What's there to explain after the disgusting remarks you spray painted about me at a MEMORIAL GARDEN! Do you know what you are? A snake! Meg Bowman was NOTHING like you, Kate! And I'm actually glad that Sal ended your friendship with her because she now realises what a mental case you are!
Kate: Sally and i will be best friends again. She'll never go back with Gloria.
Jodi: You've lost it, sweetie. Either that or your delousional. Gloria and Sally worked things out unlike YOU who wanted to turn them against each other with that cruel lie you told the Hartley High principal!
Kate: THAT WAS A MISTAKE!
Jodi: One of MANY mistakes, Kate. In fact, I'm sure the police would like to know how you got those gold earrings?
Kate: They can't prove I did it! *smirks*
Jodi: I'm sure they will. *points behind Kate*
*Kate looks around to find her mother with Nick Parrish*
Nick: Kate Desmond?
Kate: Yes?
*Nick handcuffs her*
Kate: What's going on?! Why are you doing this?!
Nick: Kate Desmond, I'm charging you with vandalism, theft and assault. You don't have to say anything. Anything you say can or will be used against you in court.
Kate: You snitched on me? Mum, how could you?!
Joy: Don't call me Mum. You're not my daughter! My daughter is DEAD!
*Kate looks upset as Nick drags her away*
Jodi: You don't mean that do you, Mrs Desmond?
Joy: After all that she's done, her father and I have washed our hands with her!
*Jodi puts her arm around Joy*

That night, Sally looks depressed.
Carly: You okay, Sal?
Sally: Not really. I just can't believe Kate did that.
Carly: She'll have to front court over what she did, you do realise that?
*Sally nods*
Carly: I'm just glad you and Jodi are okay. Where is she anyway?
Sally: She's running the kiosk.
Carly: Oh, that's right. She's closing up tonight.
*Jodi returns home*
Jodi: Hey.
Carly: I'm going to check on Philippa. *heads upstairs*
Jodi: You alright?
Sally: Getting there...slowly. What about you?
Jodi: I'm just relieved that Kate got a taste of the full force of the law.
*Sally looks down on the ground*
Jodi: Do you need a hug?
Sally: I could use one. *laughs lightly*
*Jodi and Sally hug each other*

Episode 29

December 3, 1993

It was a hot Friday in Summer Bay and Sally was in her English class sitting with Gloria. Today was going to be Gloria's last day at Summer Bay High before she left the town for good and start Year 9 at a new school in the city. Sally spent a lot of time with Gloria since the big fallout with Kate, who was denied bail to front court again in March. She was going to miss Gloria a lot.
Gloria: I can't believe this is my last day at Summer Bay High.
Sally: Me too. *looks sad*
Gloria: Don't be sad, Sal. You can come visit me one day.
Sally: I know, but it feels like I'm losing my best friend all over again.
Gloria: We'll still keep in touch.
Sally: I hope so.
Gloria: I know we will.
Sally: Come to the diner after school.
Gloria: Okay.
(When school is over, Sally and Gloria head to the diner.)
Gloria: I'm going to miss this place, you know?
Sally: And I'm going to miss you.
Gloria: I'll miss you too, Sal.
Sally: Let's have some milkshakes. My shout.
Gloria: Is this your way of saying farewell?
Sally: Yes.
Gloria: You're the best friend ever, Sal.
*Sally looks upset as Gloria hugs her*
(That night, Sally watches Neighbours on the TV as Finlay is helping Pippa wash the dishes)
Pippa: Sal, you haven't said a word since you got back from the diner. Are you okay?
Sally: I'm fine.
Finlay: Then why are you watching Neighbours with a sad look on your face?
Sally: I'm sad because Gloria's leaving tomorrow.
Pippa: Oh, I completely forgot about that. I'm sorry, sweetheart.
Finlay: You'll still be able to phone her.
Sally: It's like I'm losing my best friend again! *looks upset*
Finlay: Come here, Sally.
*Finlay hugs her*
Sally: I'm not going back to Kate after what she did! Not a chance!
Pippa: You don't have to. You'll find a friend to hang out with.
Sally: I hope so.

The next morning (Saturday), Sally, Finlay, Damian and Jodi are watching Saved By The Bell.
Sally: Gloria's probably making her way to the city by now.
Jodi: I hope she likes it in Sydney.
*Pippa enters with Gloria*
Pippa: Sal, Gloria's here.
*Sally goes over to Gloria*
Sally: I thought you would've left by now.
Gloria: I didn't want to leave without saying goodbye to my best friend.
Jodi: Good luck with everything, Gloria.
Gloria: Thanks, Jodi. *gives Jodi a hug* Good luck with the baby.
Jodi: Thanks, hun.
Gloria: Goodbye, Fin. *hugs her*
Finlay: Goodbye, Gloria. I wish you all the best.
*Gloria hugs Damian and Pippa before looking at Sally*
Gloria: I guess this is goodbye, Sal.
Sally: I'll miss you.
*Gloria and Sally hug before they start crying*
Gloria: I guess this is it. Bye. *waves at them before leaving*
Sally: Bye. *wipes away her tears as Damian puts his arms around her*
Damian: You okay, Sal?
Sally: I'm going to miss my best friend like crazy.
Damian: It's going to be okay.
*Sally starts crying again as Damian continues to console her*

Episode 30

December 17, 1993

Two weeks later, Sally arrives home from school to find a letter on the table.
Pippa: You got a letter from Gloria, sweetheart.
Sally: I'm so glad school is over for another year. I hope Gloria's letter is good.
Pippa: Open it and find out.
*Sally opens the letter and reads it*
Dear Sally,
How are you? I've settled into the city quite comfortably. How are things in Summer Bay? I miss you heaps. I went to a blue light disco last Saturday and I met some awesome people. Mum's enjoying her new job and I'm looking forward to starting at Hartley High School next year. I hope you can visit me one day. Say hi to Julia and Nicole for me.
Lots of love from your best friend,
Gloria James.

Pippa: Sounds like Gloria's settled in okay.
Sally: Would I be allowed to visit her?
Pippa: Of course, sweetheart. But I don't want you on the train by yourself.
Sally: Why?
Pippa: It can be dangerous on your own.
Sally: Okay.
Pippa: I'll drive you up there.
Sally: Thanks, Pippa. *hugs her*

On Saturday, Sally decides to write a letter back to Gloria.
Dear Gloria,
I'm okay, how are you? Yesterday was the last day of school and Julia told us that she's going to Yabbie Creek High next year. Nicole's a little upset about it. Jodi's going to have a baby boy and she's making amends with Sarah. Carly's going through with the divorce proceedings and might be moving to Summer Bay in the new year. Finlay's going to university, so it's just going to be me, Jodi, Damian and Christopher when she leaves. I'm glad that you're settling in nicely and you made friends at the blue light disco. You'll have to take me when I come visit you. Oh, I spoke to Kate's mother the other day. She's not going to Summer Bay High next year. Instead, she's going to some behavioural school after the court case is over. All I can say she got what she deserved! I hope your Mum is enjoying her job and I hope you both have a great Christmas.
From your best friend,
Sally L. Fletcher

*Sally folds the letter up before shoving it into the envelope and shoving it into the public mailbox*
Nicole: Hey, Sal.
Sally: Hi, Nicole.
Nicole: How are you?
Sally: I'm okay, I guess. You?
Nicole: Still sad that Julia's moving to Yabbie Creek. I don't have a best friend anymore.
Sally: Join the club.
Nicole: We've become very close over the past few weeks, have you noticed?
Sally: Yes, I have.
Nicole: Do you want to be best friends?
*Sally looks thoughtful*
Sally: Sure. *smiles*
Nicole: Wanna go to the surf club?
Sally: Sure.
*Sally and her new best friend start walking to the surf club*
Sally: By the way, Kate's not coming back to our school next year. She's going to a behavioural school.
Nicole: Good! It's where she belongs.
*Sally and Nicole start laughing*

THE END
