Would I be right in thinking Kim and Rachel were living in what is now John and Marilyn's house going by the layout of it?

You are, yes.The house first appeared in 2005 when the Holdens moved in there and has been on the show ever since.

So yes, another first episode where the character doesn't appear until the last five minutes.A thousand teenage boys' hearts stop beating at the appearance of Isla Fisher, even if she is lumbered with a very unflattering dress.(I was 15 when this episode was first shown, so about the right age.)Her first line, "The famous caravan park", seems a bit too self-referential, as if she knows she's a character in Home and Away, but maybe the Rosses are a minor legend in fostering circles. And Curtis was there too.No, that's a bit unfair:He might not be one of the show's icons but for the most part I liked Curtis.

Conversely, Jack wasn't one of my favourites at the time but I really enjoyed him here, with his gift of the gab convincing Don to let him use the school. (Shame he would have just missed out on meeting Adam, they'd have got along famously.)I think it wasn't until later that I really started to dislike him, it'd be interesting to see those episodes again.Rob's another one who isn't one of the great icons, one of a long list of forgotten 20-something 90s characters who only stayed a year or so, but again I didn't mind him.

So, if you're watching on 7Two this episode isn't quite just around the corner (we're about eight months away) but it's an interesting snapshot of where things are going and the really shocking thing is how much older some of the characters look: Michael must have had a hard few months.Well, actually he did, as this episode shows, setting in motion the big arc for the rest of the season.I'd have had a hard time saying "No" to that face as well, but Pippa stepped over the line by telling Sally she could go on the trip behind Michael's back.Michael's reaction, not saying anything to Sally but tackling Pippa later, was interesting: Out of context he seemed slightly over the top in the way he wouldn't let it drop, in context it might be understandable.

I took it that she'd heard a lot about it whilst they were discussing their placement as the Rosses were deciding if they'd accept before the Stewarts agreed to take one in. I thought it was odd that she was looking at the house and not the park when she said it and didn't seem to have even looked at the park.

It seemed it was Ailsa's first official foster placement, but would they have accepted her given her past?

Going back to last weeks for a mo, didn't the Holden's live in what is now the Braxton's house, Luke slept in what was Flynn's surgery which Sally had built when he and her lived there, I thought Gina moved in next door.

So I wasn't the only one to get the Dex episodes all week on my TV guide!!

Wow a complete shock to see such an old episode, 21 years, where did all that time go? Sally looked so young as did Alf, he had brown hair. I'd forgotten Jack but he was one interesting character, what happened to him?

It was more family orientated then involving more of the locals.

Sounds awful but I can't really remember Rob.

Flathead, sorry, Don must have mellowed somewhat as the earlier Don wouldn't have allowed Jack to go off to the school despite his spiel, hoping to make him feel guilty, about making a footstool for Pippa. Though considering how busy Pippa always was, would she have had the time to actually use it?

Although Michael did overreact Pippa was wrong to go behind his back about Sally going on the trip, $200 is a lot of money even today let alone back then. I know she did try and tell him, as he was rushing about all over the place, but she could have insisted on him listening. Wasn't the most perfect timing to start having a row about it just as the foster lady turned up.

Although nice to see these old episodes, we do miss out on any other on going stories so we don't always see the end of them or how they panned out.

Good point about Alisa and her past c120701.

That brown polo shirt of Alf's must be one of the oldest pieces of costume in soap. He still wears it for fishing.

Summer Bay really looks like a rundown tourist town even in 1994. It's amazing how developed it is today, presumably it's second heyday.

There's not a lot of Shannon in this episode either, as great as it is to see any old episode. They'd have been better to show some of the anorexia stuff, the Kye storyline (particularly the episode where she takes charge of the house almost and describes how all of the kids are able to stay without Pippa except Sam) and then Mandy.

Another good episode. I guess there were echoes of Curtis and Shannon in the Spencer/Maddy storyline when they first arrived, except that Curtis and Shannon really are brother and sister... of a sort. Was Curtis telling the truth when he said they'd been an item for three years? I forget the exact backstory but it seems a little unlikely that their (adoptive?) mother didn't know what was going on all that time - and if she did, rather concerning that she didn't do anything about it...

So why were Damian and Sam even living with the Rosses anyway? I'd have thought they'd be with Irene and Don respectively? It would certainly seem to make more sense for Irene to have Damian living with her than a pair of randoms.

The main part I liked about that episode was the interaction between Jack and Shannon. I liked the scene where he was trying to stop her from returning home and she thought he was trying to hit on her. And then she continued arguing with him even whilst he was trying to explain himself. In one hand she was coming across as a bit of a cow and being slightly annoying but on the other hand she just seemed so adorable and had a lot of spirit so I kept thinking what is she doing with Curtis. I must have completely forgotten that she and Curtis had the same surname. Of course they aren't related but Alf didn't know that when he saw them kissing. He actually annoyed me when he gave half of Jack's shifts to Curtis though.

The Michael storyline was..ok even though I couldn't really get into it. It was obviously tackling his depression and difficulty strugling with work, home life, helping to raise the kids and the effect all of it had on his marriage. I did think though when he overheard Sam mention that they weren't supposed to be arguing in front of him and Pippa he shouldn't have got so annoyed with her and even if he did he should have been more discreet about it rather than arguing in front of everyone.

I'd forgotten what a cute kid Sam was BTW.

I know it's only been two episodes but I really can't remember Rob being this bad. Was he?

Really loving the 90s episodes this week! So good to see characters like Michael, Pippa, Ailsa and Donald again. Yesterday's was a silly choice really as Shannon didn't appear until right at the end, think the next episode would've been a better choice. Did Irene own the beach house at this point?

Yes, Irene did. She inherited Luke and Tug as tenants and later Rob.

There was nothing wrong the ep as it was still pretty dramatic, just the fact that the lovely Isla showed up about 40 secs before the cliffhanger!

Today's was much better even though Shannon and Curtis played 2nd fiddle to MORE Pippa/Michael bickering and Irene and Roxy tending to a sick Rob.
