Loved hearing the 1995 theme again.

This episode also confirmed the position of the Salon, as Irene exited the store room door and turned immediately left which shows it is on the side of the Diner and not the back.

Great to see some Shannon & Selina scenes again - they're one of the best friendships the show has ever had.

Heh, that conversation was my first thought when I saw the scenes :P

Still watching it, but in a further scene it oddly seems to be set back from the front of the Diner as there's a window when the Salon should extend a lot further forward.

Yes that's the only problem I found with the salon when we were discussing it that time - whichever way round it doesn't quite work.... oh well :P

I didn't really like Monday or Tuesday's episodes but that was more like it. I really, really enjoyed that.

I remember that intro. So Roxy's gone and we have Donna now. The counsellor that didn't follow her own advice.

I was an Angel/Shane fan back in the day and I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed their scenes. I used to love the chemistry between them even when they hated each other. I liked them arguing then making up later on in the episode. I would normally be annoyed at someone trying to wreck their relationship and steal Shane off Angel but today I just couldn't. Shannon was just so cute and adorable with her lovely flowing red hair and brown puppy dog eyes that even when she was being totally delusional I just felt sorry for her and wanted to give her a hug. I even felt bad for her when Angel quite rightly was having a go at her on the beach and didn't feel any animosity to her when she lied about sleeping with Shane. I actually ended up being annoyed with Angel. Someone tells her that she slept with her husband and Angel just believes their story like that and decides to take off with her kid without even giving her husband a chance to explain himself first. She was so gullible and paranoid. I really liked the way Selina supported Shannon, knowing full well that she was in the wrong but being there for her as her friend even though Shannon lied to her and put her in a difficult position.

I also enjoyed the stuff with Alf and Marilyn. It was very similar dialogue to their interaction in some of the current episodes. Almost felt like a carbon copy. I found it quite funny how she was trying to set Irene up with O'Reilly but O'Reilly thought Marilyn was interested in him, asked her out instead and she agreed because she was too polite to say no. Poor Irene. After getting all excited like that. Can't really make a judgement on Shane telling Marilyn to stay out of his relationship with Angel as I didn't see their conversation beforehand. She looked slightly offended but he was polite about it. Irene's theory about Angel 'projecting' seemed' sound.

Would have liked to have seen more about the storyline with Alissa, her diary and the counselling.

Really enjoyed tonight's episode, would've been around the time I started watching with my mum when I was about 6.

When did the Bobby popping out of the fridge episodes air in the UK? I actually remember seeing that originally. Can't remember what triggered Ailsa's breakdown though, can anyone enlighten me? Who was Marilyn's husband? Didn't realise she's been married before Donald.

Great Angel/Shannon scenes! They just don't make characters like that anymore.

Ailsa had been attacked in the Diner a couple of weeks previously when she was locking up. That cliffhanger always stuck in my mind as one of the genuinely scary moments of the show - a close-up of Ailsa about to walk out the Diner door, and you just see a figure coming out of the darkness behind her, with the shot freezing just before he got to her. The music made it all the more creepy.

Marilyn's first husband was Phil Bryant - he came to the bay with his daughter in 1992, Marilyn left with him 3 weeks later, and they were married off-screen 8 weeks later (though we do have a small wedding pic on the site). Marilyn returned as she found out he had cheated on her, and whilst she was initially going to go back to him after talking on the phone, she changed her mind and stayed in the bay.

I'll get back to you on the UK date of the Bobby ep

Edit: The main ep featuring Bobby aired on Monday 18th September 1995 (though she'd popped up as the cliffhanger of the previous ep). It was a Friday ep in Oz, so ITV had gone out of sync somewhere (probably August Bank Holiday). ITV were just over 3 months behind Oz.

Gosh, I forgot what a misery-guts Angel could be (Shane too, in fairness); and despite Shannon being at fault I felt bad for her when Angel tore strips - she could have shown a bit more maturity and taken account of Shannon's age, rather than buying wholesale into the idea that Shannon's crush was somehow posing a fundamental threat to her marriage.

Good to see Selina. I always liked her (except that weird time Tempany was ill and got replaced by Louise Crawford) - she seemed a bit more grounded than a lot of the teen characters at that time.

The Ailsa stuff was intriguing; not surprised to learn we were close to 'Bobby in the Fridge-gate' as she did look pretty haunted in these scenes. Judy Nunn was always a good performer, and I always thought she should have lasted far longer on the show than she did.

Damian and Fin originally went to stay with the Rosses back when Irene was a violent drunk. When she eventually bought the beach house, she asked them to move in but they chose to stay with Michael and Pippa, which is understandable, it was their first real home pretty much.Sam did stay with Don for a bit but, uncharacteristically, he had a hard time handling him (it can possibly be justified by him not being fully over Bobby's death) and felt he was better off in a family situation with other children so asked Michael and Pippa to take him in.

Ah, okay, thanks. I remember Drunken Irene's arrival very well, and being absolutely terrified by her - so I guess it would take some time for them to accept Nice Irene after that. I think I'm right in saying that Fin was in it before Damian, and lived with the Rosses at the same time as Rebekah Elmaloglou's character... I'm fairly sure Sam lived with Don again when he was a bit older, since I recall quite a long period where he acted like quite a brat towards him? He's another one of those very rare cases of a kid pretty much growing up on-screen without a cast-change, but gets forgotten because Sally is always the first you think of, having obviously lasted a lot longer.

I don't think their adoptive mother would have worried much: It's not like they were sleeping together or anything, just holding hands, occasionally kissing and calling themselves boyfriend and girlfriend.

Hmm. I'd be interested to know how old they were when she adopted them, because it seems to me that if they're legally brother and sister - albeit not biologically - then she shouldn't have been allowing them to carry on together, however benign she thought it was. I think even foster carers are supposed to try and prevent that sort of thing from happening, although I don't doubt it goes on a fair bit.

The funny thing is Emily and Vince SHOT the wedding photo but pretty much confirmed to TV Week the actual wedding would never be seen.

Also, ITV broadcast over the August Bank Holiday (At least Carlton/Thames), it was one of the Sally vs Joe Lynch eps (Crazy what you remember from being 11)
