Good exit there for Shannon, and in the good old days of caravan park farewells. I believe there were a few round this time with Shannon, Angel and Pippa all being waved off from there.

Is it me or did the diner look different in tonight's episode compared to the 1995 ones earlier in the week?

I actually remember today's episode really clearly. Has it been repeated on Channel 5 before?

Not on Channel 5, the 1997 eps last time around were Irene giving birth and the fire at the commune (the online ep being Maz announcing she was pregnant)

Another year gone (it shows the episode was from 1996 in the credits) so Shane and Michael have both died and Marilyn has married Don. The spare bedroom has appeared at the Beach House and Irene now has red hair, that short style really suited her.

In those years I always thought Jessie looked a lot like Marti Pellow from Wet Wet Wet with that hair and grin.

I liked Teigan, another troubled kid who got herself sorted and lovely to see Joey again. How had Tiegan managed to submit any homework if she wasn't able to read?

It wasn't actually an extra bedroom as they had 3 upstairs, 1 down and then they changed it to 2 up, 2 down. Now it's 2 up, 1 down.

Living broadcast the episode on Friday 17th May 2002 maybe you seen it then possibly?

Nope not just you, the Diner was given a make over in the middle of 1995 not long after 1714 that we seen on Wednesday.

Well the first 1997 episode hasn't seen the bizarre edit to the end credits that was on a few of the 1997-1999 ones last time around, which Channel 5 claimed was "how they received them" - so it'll be interesting to see if the next few eps remain untouched too.

Spoke too soon, the edit was back in today's ep. It was clearly just to remove the ©1997 from the final shot.

I cannot fathom any reason why they (the distributors presumably) would do it, it's present on other years of the show and was clumsily added back in during the last repeats from that era anyway....

Do you think it will be the same when 7Two get to those episodes in about 3 years time.

Yeah just checked the 1995 episode again and the diner had been repainted sometime between then and 1997, then I know the next big makeover came sometime in 1998, sometime between the Nash's arriving and Sally being shot if I remember the 1998 episodes during the summer break a few years ago

Yup the big makeover debuted in 2381 (11th May 1998 in Oz)

Thanks Dan, after the 2000 fire I don't get why they relocated to new premises? It was only a small fire in the kitchen.

I imagine it was a production decision rather than a storyline one. Maybe the owners of the original Diner building no longer wanted them to film there. I agree they could have made the fire bigger to make it more realistic that Ailsa would move premises.

I never liked the Beachside Diner (2000-2008). It was an ugly building from the outside and the upstairs flat never made any sense dimensionally.
