1994 Episode Discussion

It's funny, Selina is the centre of a  , when it seems here, she'd given 'em to Luke voluntarily!

knicker-stealing storyline next year

Selina was basically someone who'd lived in the area a good while but never really prominent until they invented the character. She does temporarily leave but comes back permanently the same year (like Marilyn in 1989).

Characters change down the line.

Lance, Martin and Fisher in the early going were.... essentially Douchebags, though the two former were eventually just comedy screwups. It took Frank's accident and Don trying to restrain Bobby from leaving to show Don's human side.

In 1989 Marilyn left as a main character and returned as a main character (she is added to the credits, removed, and then added again). Selina leaves as a guest character and returns as a main character, like Irene, Tiegan or Chloe.

Tug you shouldn't of had a go at Luke he was only trying to help it could of been much worse if Beth found out later.

Its not an ideal job picking up garbage but Angel shouldn't of been making fun of Shane.

Sam trying to help was cute.

wonder what Pippa will see if and when Michael asks her about the cheque.

OK, serious question here:

If Tug and Beth have feelings for each other, what difference does it make if she is his teacher?

Who does it matter to, other than the Department? What business is it of theirs?

If Tug and Beth are both of age, and they both consent, then what is the problem?

The problem? Tug isn't of age, at least not in terms of student/teacher relationships. We recently saw him in juvenile court, meaning he's still a child for the purposes of these circumstances, meaning it doesn't just matter to the Department, it matters to the police.

Kind of ironic that there's the same debate going on about the 2015 episodes though...(At least in regards to UK pace episodes.)

(And really, you actually say that at the same time as changing your signature to say Sophie should have "done the decent thing" and not dated an older person when they had feelings for each other and it wasn't against the law?How is Tug and Beth okay and Sophie and David not, as opposed to the other way round, at least in the eyes of the law and the Department? Is it okay if no-one gets pregnant?)

Shane's first day on the job seemed to go alright.

Angel don't you dare give Shane hope just to take it back because he decided not to go to Tafe and now to prove himself to you he will probably end up going to Tafe.

Glad Luke talked some since into Tug oh Luke you feel for your mother's best friend when you where about Tug's age cute but kind of gross.

Jack bringing home a puppy was cute but I don't think Pippa and Michael will let a dog stay no matter how cute it is.

Glad Damian/Alf are letting Jack help with the deliveries.

it was nice of Tug to accept Angel's offer of being her date to the Deb ball.

We haven't seen Ailsa in two weeks and Irene seems to be the only one in the diner, sort of foreshadowing that Irene will be running the diner in 10 years time.

Maybe Judy Nunn was sick, as Ailsa was sick with Irene telling Roxy to tell Ailsa not to come to work until she is better, and that she'd mind things for her until then.

I always thought it was funny that Ailsa didn't want to have Irene as a partner!

Was Sophie a juvenile at the time she was "seeing" David?

Why isn't it OK if no-one gets pregnant?

Also, why is the Tug and Beth relationship being compared to mother and son type age difference? Is there an underlying attitude that it's OK for a girl to date someone as old as her father, but not OK for a boy to date someone old enough to be his mother??

She was a juvenile in the sense that she was under 18.But David wasn't her teacher, so it wasn't against the law.And why isn't it OK if someone does get pregnant? If it hadn't been for Karen, David and Sophie may have lived happily ever after.

I don't think it's necessarily a double standard. If it was a teenage girl showing an interest in her male teacher, I think everyone would be quick to shut it down as well.(And indeed, have done, both before and since, eg Andrew getting chastised for getting too close to Carly, Grant's career being threatened because Vicky didn't take rejection well.)No-one was particularly bothered about Steven dating Narelle with a similar age gap, because again she wasn't his teacher.

Funny you should say that, Red.

A part of my brain actually thought David was Sophie's teacher when I first learned about the storyline before watching the repeats (assumed he was one as he was Don's nephew). Funny what your brains marries together.

And also Tom and Pippa basically saw the whole Stevo/Narelle thing as something that would peter out quickly (some poor sod in Year 9 with a girl 4yrs older than him)
