1994 Episode Discussion

Made it up to 1465, so still a bit behind.I'm in two minds about what I believe is the only real break-up Shangel ever had.I must admit I was grinning along with Shane when Jack took the bait, but then both Angel and Don took it seriously and were freaked out and I thought Shane realised he'd gone too far...but then his only concern seemed to be whether or not he got found out, which I found as frustrating as Angel did.Still, Don identifying Jack as the prowler is another classic Donald moment ("Do the words 'Psst, hey, gorgeous' mean anything to you?").And I'm glad Shane managed to talk Angel out of moving out.

Things are unravelling financially for the Rosses.Michael seems to be jumping back and forth on whether he's accepting help from the family or stubbornly trying to do it all himself and is operating on a very short fuse...

Ahh, Sarah agreeing to go to the ball with Damian. And judging from her conversation with Angel, it seems to be because of his "physical attributes".Possibly the last gasp of their not-quite-relationship, bar a brief moment at Shane and Angel's wedding.(Why couldn't they have made him her husband?Oh yeah, priest.)Sarah made a mess of letting Tug down, she's lucky he didn't seem to mind.I can't quite decide about Beth's behaviour: It seems innocent but she is blurring the lines of teacher/student relations a bit. Then again, this is Summer Bay, they get blurred a lot.I find it hard to believe that the Tug we first met would have brought a litter into school and handed them out.I'm not saying he'd drown them, but hand them out at school?

Contrasting a bit with Tug/Beth, we have Luke dealing with the unwanted attention of Selina. At the moment, people seem to be talking about Miss Cook in the same judgemental way they used to talk about Michelle, and she could have gone the same way.Irene seems to get on rather well with her in their first scene together, even if they do subsequently end up fighting over Luke.(Of course, Selina ends up partnering someone else...)

Ok I have 3 questions on todays episode.

Where was Pippa when Fin left? She would never miss one of her foster children leaving.

Where was Damien to say good bye to his sister when Shane, Angel and Sarah were there

Where was Sally?

Tug was probably a decent kid at one point but with Roy being such a dick, it had to have effected him somewhat (not excusing his Douchery at times any way).

Nearly wet myself over the Don/Shane/Angel/Jack. Jack's sprint to the window would have had him in contention for the '96 Olympics, but let's be honest. Who WOULD stick around if they realised they got into Don's rooms by mistake. Shane cracking jokes about the intruder having a crush.

"Far out!"

Caught upto 1468 (Short answer: It ain't easy!) Jack and Aftershave was a funny little story. God, I shudder to think if the dog had left a little surprise in the living room; Never mind, that loser in the diner attempt to drowni the kittens, Aftershave could have met the same fate given Michael's mood (okay, extreme but he is on edge at the moment!)

Briefly remember Shane and the Garbage bit.  1994 was definitely a crossroads for Shane.

Saxon Cheng, guy who played Bruce in Jack's YR10 class seems to be a Personal Trainer these days. Googled him. He was also in the 1986 miniseries, Cyclone Tracy which a young Kate Ritchie cut her acting teeth.

Kym Valentine was a cutie back then. wasn't she?

Michael's stubborn pride makes me want to leap into the TV and belt him. Be thankful it's cleaning Michael, Blokes wives have done a LOT worse in harder times! Haydn should be Horsewhipped for the mire he's left the family in.

Selina and your teacher fixation... Oy vey! She made a right show of herself but she was kind of OTT when she started out.

I wonder how much $400k Aus 1994 would be today? (Based on Shane watching Wheel of Fortune)

Shangel having a little separation is fine but the reason just seems convoluted and we know the course of the relationship.

No explanation given for Ailsa's absence? Maybe Judy Nunn went down sick this past fortnight.

Observation Popular early years insults; "Turkey", "Punnet Head", "Slag", "Pea-brain" (mainly Nick to Shane)

Tug is setting himself up for one big fat fall.

Also anyone notice that Tristan is kind of... Breaking out? I know he was a Teenager at this point but that was some blatantly visible acne there!

Also seen up to 1468.Jack tried to chat up Fin?He's game. And shameless.Damian makes a rather odd partner in crime but I guess he needs someone to hang with now Shane's joined the workforce.Ah, Kym Valentine, another of my 90s crushes...Shame she didn't get a scene with Kate Ritchie, the two Aussie soap starlets of the 90s and 00s together. That is one humongous puppy. How big is he going to be when he's grown up?Cute though.

Shane seems to be a bit ambivalent about why he's doing his job but it's honest work, nothing to be ashamed of.About $728,000, Hulk, according to the website I used.

Beth is playing with fire by agreeing to carry on with the swimming lessons despite knowing of Tug's feelings, and she doesn't even seem to have toned down her flirty behaviour around him.

okay I have only one answer Damian was probably waiting in the car since Fin asked Irene if they could borrow it earlier in the episode.

The Farwell  Fin was right on point just a few friends and family but it's odd that Pippa and Sally weren't there.

We know at some point Tina returns as when you look it up on IMDB or any reliable site she's credited  from 1991-1997.

I thought the gesture Shane tried with Angel was nice I think she overreacted I don't think Shane was trying to use Dylan to get back with Angel.

I'm glad Jack owned up but annoyed that he cost Tug his job.

Angel is being so over the top. :/ Shane was just doing something nice for Dylan and she overreacts.

Saw upto 1470.

The last of the Class of '92 ('93 in her case) rides off into the sunset but she will be back in under 2 years. At least she got a goodbye with Irene and Damian helped drive her out of the bay.

It is Bizzare that Sal was in the ep but not at the Farewell.

Another Angel WTF moment, she's being a total cow this week.

Jack trying to get that $50 reward by owning up, He's lucky Alf didn't take his belt off or at least say to Michael "You do the honours!"

Couldn't help but Chuckle when Jack called Michael Freddy Krueger. Well, he does have some striped shirts, all he needs h is some claws and the hat!

The Stewart kilt makes its first appearence since Duncan's christening. Complete with Bagpipe music, I think the next time we see it is Vinnie and Leah's wedding?

Who'd have thought a small dog could do so much Damage; I swear Karen and Revhead did less damage when they turned the place over a few years back!

Still No Ailsa! Judy must have been sick or taken some vacation time but she'll be back next week.

$728k seems a nice piece of change provided you don't MC Hammer, or in Home and Away terms, Lance Smart it away! :lol::lol:

I'm glad they didn't drag out Fin's exit like they do in soaps nowadays, when you know for months in advance and there's a huge build up.

The absence of Ailsa and now Pippa is somewhat odd as they both keep getting mentioned as if they're just in the other room or working away in the back of the diner. Although I prefer them doing that when actors are sick than what they did a few years later when Tempany Deckart was sick and they got an entirely different actress in to play Selina for a few weeks. To be fair, if I remember correctly, it was during a huge storyline for Selina so I guess they didn't have much choice...
