1994 Episode Discussion

You know, I wish they had brought back Colleen in the 90s as I feel the show lacks a busy-body. I always thought it was a shame that Ailsa and Colleen didn't spent many years together in the diner as I always loved, in 2000, how Ailsa always used to stop Colleen gossiping to customers.

Okay, I've been away for a week (got back from Jamaica last week) and haven't been able to access H&A:Tey for about a month but I've slammed like 35 eps in the past 7 days plus.

- Sal's getting quite a figure on her. I mean this in a non-pervy way as she's 15 at this point, it's at least another 2-3 years before she can been considered a proper stunner but she truly does look nice here.  Even if she is a bit moany.

- Tug and Jack's escapades are reminiscent of Lance and Martin who left four years previous. I'm surprised Alf didn't go bald at this point.

- The lift stunt always made me laugh. What ARE folk meant to think when two people half naked (granted they had pants on and Rox had her bra on *whistles*) are busted in the lift?

- Don is also at his funniest here and the busking.

- Character I've wanted to slap this month for her attitude: Roxy. She must have taken a triple shot of bitch pills before dealing with Rob who in all honesty is not a bad bloke. And the Spaghetti scene; what is she, 20-odd going on 6?

- Leaving a kid in the car like that was NOT the brightest idea, Shane.

- "Cheat Week" is one of my favorite arcs for this year, featuring the fabulous five (Shane, Damian, Tug, Sarah and Angel)  No wonder Damo ran, He probably thought Irene was gonna beat him again!

- The Doom Instruments got a good workout.

- I liked the great sausage caper as well.

- I was half expecting Coyotes to howl when Rox was stranded in the cliffhanger:lol:

- Selina was out of line belting Jack

- Sonia, decent body but little else going for her, devoid of any personality and a bit of an airhead. I wonder what Eva Matiuk is doing now? No record of her after this stint.

-  Angel came off somewhat paranoid when mentioning the whole Engagement.

- I guess Luke will be forgotten now

- We had yet another Jukebox shot and talking of which, The band, The Truth (band Shane liked) had some decent songs. I really like that bass-heavy one that often plays in the diner.

- Thompson seems a wee bit softer in this stint after the heart attack, he probably had a diet worthy of Henry VIII. It would have been a good time for Alf to mention St. Celia of Summer Bay! "  I'll tell you what, Ailse. If he quotes the bible at me once more; I'll dig ours out from wherever and belt him over the noggin with it!"

- The Teen portion of the cast must have been really killing it as they were in nearly every ep over this period, particularly Shane and Angel with Damian not too far behind.

- Jack is basically Mr. Marmite on here, you love him or hate him!

-Pippa vs the Bike, ouch. And the shorts. TBF, Debra did look kind of nice the previous year, post-baby weight loss..

- Double ouch at Damian getting shot down at the pub by Tracy and "Girl 2" (the far cuter oriental one who they never bothered to give a name). Neither of these girls seemingly acted again.

Well, that's my 2 cents though it probably feels like 20 bucks!

I don't understand where Michaels attitude about money comes from. Sure his own son ripped him off but it's his own fault for giving Hayden the loan in the first pace without consulting Pippa so double standards much Michael?? Why should the kids be punished? Why is he so petty about the kids education? I would have thought a good foster parent would always put education first. Surely he can spare $200! He's such a cheapskate, petty and a hypocrite.

Another character I'm hating at the moment is Jack. Get a life and stop girl chasing.

Highlight: The arrival of Curtis and Shannon. I remember having a big crush on Curtis back in the day.

Curtis was Summer Bay's answer to Mr. Boombastic and All the girlies thought he was pretty fly for a Surf Guy!

(Unashamedly 90s Child here)

He and Jack were contrasts, Jack went on booty quests while Curtis had the Harem flock to him lol.

Yeah, it's not exactly like They're shivering and eating out of Tuna cans over a hotplate with Damo, Jack, Sal, Sam and Christopher all wearing sackcloth and worn-through shoes to school while Pip has to do 28 different jobs to keep the mean landlord away.

I like Roxy, liking Roxy and Rob, hated Irene in last week when Sally hurt her ankle and Irene didn't care one bit felt so sorry for Sally

Jack so in love with him thinking he can date three girls at once the girls all deserved better

I was 12 when these first aired, so I remember when these first aired in September,1994, in the Victorian spring school holidays.

Michael is being very harsh, treating Pippa like dirt, the start of the storyline dealing with their marriage issues. Debra and Dennis would of found it hard playing this as they are a married couple in real life.

Thought it was funny when Alf interrogated Shannon and Curtis, especially asking them about politics.

Ros Gentle, who played Mrs James, appeared in a very early episode as Sally's teacher, and in a very similar role (as a guest part) in A Country Practice.

I was surprised how much graffiti there was in the toilets of the games arcade considering it was mentioned numerous times how it was "new" and "just opened".

Michael is acting like a chauvinistic Ahole, feel like telling him to grow up.

I hope Pippa stands her ground, she always seems to need validation from him for what she thinks, and before she does anything, and now he is trying to tell her not to talk to her friends?  well hello, spreading gossip and innuendo is nothing new in summer bay, it has been going on since day dot lol.  seems since she has developed her own opinions and is more her own person, he doesn't like it, seems like a bit of a control freak.

How rude of Frankie to ask angel if she could be bridesmaid, when she already chose sarah and only wanted one.  I always thought it was the bride who chose who she wanted, not the other way around, but then again, Frankie seems to lack manners in general.

Imaginative but rather unusual use of classical music (I'm pretty sure Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 9) which was 'turned up' at the end of Angel's wedding cost travails sequence around the breakfast table - thus showing it had actually become the soundtrack to the scene, rather than just on Don's stereo as it normally is...
