James Martin Posted September 26, 2015 Report Posted September 26, 2015 Moving it to 7Two would be terribly sad. But that's only mildly more people than watch the show in the UK, on a minor channel and in daytime. However, you've also got to take into account that if the show was axed, Seven would lose a fortune in international sales. That said, I wonder if in the UK it'll be quietly moved to 5* soon? I reckon had it stayed on ITV, it would now almost certainly be on ITV2.
Luke39 Posted September 27, 2015 Report Posted September 27, 2015 Well either way other countries need to come into account too. Alot of international sales and revenue. From countries like NZ, UK, Asia etc. Now i hope the issue is resolved, if 72 does get the show, depends on its audience and ratings. I hope they are strong enough, as NZ only get the show from Aussie clearly lol.
Homeandawayfan. Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 Some friends who also watch H&A seem to think the show may be axed soon due to dwindling ratings. I hope not, I'd hate to see it pulled before its 30th which is just 2 years away.
Dan F Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 It was said the other day that Seven has no immediate plans to bring back Today Tonight for east coast viewers anyway, which is what started off this whole debate about whether H&A could possibly move to 7TWO (which has seemingly led to another Producers debate and talks of axing).
~Lynd~ Posted November 3, 2015 Report Posted November 3, 2015 I wouldn't worry about it being axed . It'll change to one of the digital stations at worst. That doesn't appear to be happening any time soon though.
Wanderer101 Posted November 3, 2015 Report Posted November 3, 2015 I would be devastated if Home and Away got axed . My favourite show ever.
Pantherboy Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 This story has re-surfaced. Article in today's Sunday Telegraph: "Soapie Switch for Seven Channel Seven are considering moving popular soapie Home And Away to digital channel 7TWO to make way for the return of Today Tonight. It is understood executives at Martin Place are close to making the call regarding the country's longest running soap, which is hugely profitable for the network thanks to its broad international sales and presence in 80 countries. It has been no secret network boss Craig McPherson, who oversaw Today Tonight before it was pulled in 2014, is keen to bring the program back to compete with Nine's A Current Affair. The decision hinges on whether TT can produce the right audience mix to lead into Seven's prime time hits including X Factor. "The problem with TT is the viewing demographic is a lot older than Home And Away and isn't necessarily the right kind of audience they are looking for to attract the big budget powerhouses like My Kitchen Rules," a Seven insider said. Seven also risks shedding Home And Away viewers in a switch. When rival Neighbours moved to 11 in 2010, the network saw the audience drop by around 50 per cent. When contacted for comment, Seven spokesman denied the move."
Dan F Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 Don't really think naming H&A as the "country's longest-running soap" has gained the story any more credibility than it had first time round... I mean they even mention Neighbours further down!
