1995 Episode Discussion

At the moment I really wish Andrew got a gun and blasted Rob's smarmy little head off. Just what he deserves at the moment. Wannabe "hero" I mean who does he think he is coming to the school and blabbing to Don Fisher at the school about Andrew's private life? (have they seemed to have forgotten what a fine maths teacher he was? He has to leave anyway, before being mobbed out by the town rednecks) And Angel acting all scared, covering her mouth, interfering and trying to call the police, when all Andrew wanted to do was talk to Donna I mean did Andrew come over with a rifle or did he just come over with his face I mean look at the way Angel covered her mouth when she merely opened the door to find him standing there. All he did was standing there. Unarmed. And Angel kept telling him to GET OUT just for turning up. She decided to push it. Andrew merely pushed back. He just wanted to talk to Donna. Is that so bad? And Rob is still invading his flat. Who does he think he is!! I really am suprised Andrew didn't clout Rob one in the carpark. Why is it only Donna that got hit (was it one punch even? All we saw was his raised fist at the end of the previous episode, then at the beginning of this episode, Donnna was in tears and had a bit of blood coming out of her nose. We never see Andrew's fist actually striking Donna's face). Why couldn't Donna accept the locket back and be done with it. Andrew could seek profssional help for being "psychologically incapable" of having a relationship.

(Sorry for the deliberate misspellings, for some reason hyphens seem to be appearing out of nowhere at the ends of some lines. The misspellings are to trick whatever it is that is making the hyphens so that it doesn't know where to put them in)

^OldH&AFan I noticed the hyphens yesterday when I was making a post but they disappeared when I actually submitted the post.

Regardless of whether or not Angel was justified in her reaction to Andrew, she 100% has the right to invite or block whoever she wants from coming into her house. Andrew was 100% in the wrong to enter the house uninvited and refuse to leave when asked. Whatever the situation.

That rule is based on a whim and a bit beside the point. I've never suggested for a second that anyone was obliged to let anyone (other than police with search warrants) into their home. The point is, while everyone in Summer Bay tends to welcome everyone who knocks at their door under normal circumstances, Angel greeted him with this strange covered-mouth gesture, without a second thought, like as soon as she opened the door she was giving him this dirty look with the covered mouth right away. Angel then screamed at him to GET OUT, JUST GET OUT when he came in when Angel was hiding Donna and refusing to let him see her without even trying to justify why. No attempt at negotiation, no attempt at trying to reason with him — it was just GET OUT! NOW! If it was anyone else but Andrew at the door, Angel would have at least asked what it was about.

Oh and while we're on the subject, an inquiry into this Andrew and Donna business would raise questions as to why it was treated this way by the show. Everyone who heard he was violent towards Donna before, treated him as though he enjoyed thrashing her, like he was some kind of a sadist who just likes to beat up and hurt females for the "pleasure" of it. Irene wouldn't let him near Selina, Donna wouldn't want him tutoring Jack because he was a bad influence, It became pretty evident that despite the attitudes of those in the town, Andrew was in fact sorry for what he had done, and that he had a problem. Alright, he may not have wanted to admit he had a problem (apart from what he advised Jack when he was giving Curtis a hard time about Laura), but that wasn't enough. He never enjoyed hitting Donna, and in all honesty he didn't go out to hit just anyone I mean he didn't hit Angel when she tried to refused him seeing Donna did he?

Another question is, where do you draw the line between someone having an affair and outright jealousy? Seriously, Rob has been trying to get (back) into Donna's pants all along. There really was a love triangle between Rob, Donna and Andrew wasn't there? And what business was it of Rob to be in Andrew's flat to help Donna move furniture in the first place when he was away teaching at school?

But as far as Angel was concerned her friend had just rocked up with a black eye and bloody nose, she responded as most would - with anxiety and shock. She was scared because she could see what he'd done to Donna. I think she was screaming at him to get out out of a mixture of anxiety but mostly anger and wanting to gain control over the man who had just entered her house uninvited.

Also I get what you mean that the folk of Summer Bay were quite closed minded and black and white towards Andrew at first, but given time they all came around, even encouraging Donna to get back with Andrew to a degree which shows that they all began to trust that he had 'changed'. We've yet to see how they respond to the latest news.

I'm sure a lot of people do, Beau_T. But it's not up to Rob, Shane, Angel and everyone else to fight her battles for her like this. And as I keep saying, Andrew is not quite the psychopathic axe-murderer everyone makes him out to be. He is a great maths teacher at the school. I'm not saying Donna deserves a fist in the face from Andrew (as I said before, why didn't he give Rob a good belting instead?) but there is already plenty of sympathy being done without my help.

We didn't see Andrew hit Donna because of the timeslot and G rating I guess.

But I felt it was actually a bit confronting watching that episode. I mean we saw a boyfriend assault his partner then turn around and say it was your fault. No Andrew you have a serious aggressive problem and you take responsibility. Donna did nothing wrong. She is allowed to have friends. She didn't cheat in you with Rob. Rob helped her move the furniture around because she asked him to.

Also Rob went around to the flat to get some clothes for Donna. It's what good friends do. As if Donna was going to go back there. Also angel has every right to tell Andrew to go away, and he was not in the mood to listen. We saw that when he grabbed the phone of her and slammed it down. If one of my good friends was hit by her boyfriend and he came to my house i'd chuck him out to.

Oh and Rob had every right to let Don know what happened. Donna and Andrew were also work colleagues. So he would need to know.

Also when does Alf get back? He has been gone for awhile  now.

You know her sitch; She was in a bad position When she had him. 14, a-hole parents by all accounts, limited options. Paulie Boy and Old Bag Harris were the best choice; at least Dylan would grow up knowing at least who ONE parent was. It was Either that or flat out give Dylan up for adoption.

Yes, that is correct and by the looks of it, they've looked after Dylan very well. Okay, maybe Mrs Harris has used dirty tactics to get Dylan to dislike Angel, but that's because the courts almost invariably favour the mother in such court cases, over the father, irrespective of how fit each are to look after the child. Angel said words to the effect that she should get custody over Paul simply because she's his mother and that's more important than being his father. Judging by the lack of comments on this site, I see that nobody really cares about father's rights to their child. It's the same in real life, and with maternal grandparents being perceived as more important than paternal grandparents.

Well, it was stated they were rich. And I'm guessing Old Man Harris kicked the bucket leaving Anne and Paulie set.

Paul seems to be the more amicable of the two Harris but that changes as the year wears on...
