I agree about Maja. What a cutey pie. The bond between her and Michael is so believable (not to mention touching) and it's nice to see a storyline like this for Michael instead of Pippa for once.

I like Nelson so, nice to see him back, and good to hear the dislikeable Wendy has got herself a job on a cruise ship - not a bad gig.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who found the mention of Donald and Barbara getting a divorce completely out of left field? I didn't dream it did I? What is the purpose of bringing this up 6 years after she was last seen or mentioned, when we all assumed they were divorced anyway?

Yeah. The same dropkick who teased her about vomiting in Mr Fisher's car when she was having nightmares earlier in the year. Jesse McGregor. He still gets credited as "taunt" but I know it's HIM

That sounds kinda para!

What on earth was with the random dialogue relating to Barbara and Donald getting a divorce? Wasn't it pretty much assumed (if not outright stated) that they were already divorced? Either way, why suddenly mention it now, when Barbara hasn't been mentioned for years?

TBF, She got mentioned in 1994 when Rebecca returned but not by name (ala Kate by Michael in the same season).

And people can be separated for yonks before the marriage is finally toast (i.e. Stan/Les and Colleen)

Yeah I know, but I don't understand why it would be randomly put into the writing right now after all these years, with no connecting storyline (unless something's coming up that I've forgotten).

Maybe to highlight Don being so lonely, lonely, living on his own... Dee Do De De... De Do De Do... He don't have no time for no monkey business!

You could be right.

I'm also wondering if they are starting to "set up" Don's character for his upcoming romance with you-know-who. I know it's a fair way off yet, but I wonder how early on it was planned. They seem to be making him extra miserable lately, getting grumpy with Shane and Angel, the Teresa business, his attitude to Selina and Shannon. Perhaps they're deliberately trying to make him more like "Old-school" flathead to give it more of an impact when Chalk starts dating Cheese.

Maybe that's why the mention of the divorce, just to "tie-up" any loose ends in his backstory.

^I think that's it. It definitely feels like with all the change that's happened over the past 6 months they've also seemed to be inspired by the very early years of the show with re-focusing on the fostering themes, mentioning past characters more, Ailsa seeing Bobby and taking more of a centre stage, Marilyn's arrival and Fisher feels way more like he did in 1988.

I remember the reference from the first time round and I'm pretty sure it was stated outright in the 80s that Donald and Barbara were divorced, it struck me at the time because I knew they were, er, going to get divorced again because they liked it so much the first time.So if it is a way of highlighting his singleness to set things up, then it's pretty poor continuity.

It's a shame that Joe and Teresa have left. I quite liked them but happy to see everyone make up in the end.

Yeah I thought that was a bit random about Barbara and Don. But anyway.

What the hell. Engaged on a 2nd date. Who in the hell does that and says yes. It will end in total disaster. The look on Alf's face when he was asked to be best man was priceless.

Nice to see Nelson back, such a nice boy.

So Shannon is exercising and not eating much. Remember this story. She has had a few heavy story lines.

Hey, remember Ben and Carly got together just as fast?  (Which seems to be the blue touchpaper for one of our fellow members).

Shannonrexia...That was the first of its kind on this show and would be later done with Jade. Funny, because Neighbours had done the same thing with Debbie Martin not a million years before it (Actress legit lost weight for that). I think from about 1996-97 it became the Shannon and Selina Show for a bit, it's still pretty much the Shane and Angel show at this point.

I will admit it is out of leftfield that Barbara who hasn't been mentioned by name in Donkey's suddenly wanting a divorce. I'm too lazy to review 1988/89 again to see when the divorce was mentioned though...

With good reason I should think, Captain Hulk. Only complete f***** idiots get together that quick.

It takes an even bigger fool to conclusively believe they can remain together for the rest of their lives on the basis of what's little more than a toss of a coin.
