1995 Episode Discussion

So another farewell that was a bit non existent. Heather just said I will wait for my Dad out the front and that was it. Gone. I mean I know she was only there for a few days and did cause some havoc but seriously at least Pippa could have said goodbye. But nice to see Sally give her s serve before she left.

But it was kind of funny in a way how she just irritated Nelson and messed with him and all the stories she told. \

Oh Jack what are you doing. Seriously it's you that isn't doing the assignments and skipping school. Fisher is just doing his job. If you are going to skip school wouldn't you go somewhere else, not play pool at the surf club where your family runs the kiosk?

Made it up to Episode 1751 after a fairly long slog through 20 episodes, so about two weeks behind.Like Dan, I picked up on Sam as a future carpenter.I wasn't expecting Don and Alf to sort out their differences over a game of pool, but it was fun viewing all the same.Still, they perhaps got sorted out a bit too well, with Alf's assault charge seemingly forgotten about.

So, Shannon's anorexia. The tension between her and Pippa in the aftermath was an interesting route to take the character down, it did seem like they slipped into a mother/daughter relationship a bit too easily when she turned up so it was perhaps a good idea to see it revisited.I think we actually had the whole family (bar Christopher) around the table at one point for the first time in a long while.Angel has been way too harsh on Shannon, to the point of cheering that she was ill, which has made it hard to sympathise with her during the stalker storyline.(Even first time round, I guessed who it really was at least two weeks before the reveal.)Joanne, or Jo as she's known at this point, makes a low key debut: It looks like she was just intended as a one-episode guest to provide a suspect for the stalker, but she'll be popping up causing trouble pretty much until Angel leaves.Interesting that Angel still seems to think writing is her thing at this point.Bert, as has been pointed out, seems to get less and less confused in return appearances, to the point that he basically ends up running the house when Pippa's not around in 1997...

Murdoch.Hmm.I think it's easy to read too much into Selina's initial reaction given that we know what's coming up.She thinks he seems okay when she first sees him, then she finds Irene upset after a run-in and ends up giving him a serve for it.At that point, it seems she's just being protective (over-protective?) of Irene, despite some odd phrases. When Murdoch starts being predatory towards her, she seems completely taken aback, even considering that she might have misunderstood, so I don't think she knew what he was like straightaway.Interesting that we're told Nathan's halfway through a three year sentence...which he'll take another six and a half years to finish.

Sally and Nelson are rather cute and Sally's mannerisms during his video message are the first time I've really been reminded of her older self. The girl who Jack helped after she fell off her bike seemed to be several years older when she made the fall...The teens' Wonderland trip was a nice change of pace and someone was obviously making use of the location.

And Ailsa came back.I remember Alf's attempts at poetry well: Very in character and kind of touching in its own way.Ailsa's "I don't love you anymore" does seem to simply be a case of her being melodramatic for the sake of a cliffhanger though: Next episode she quickly says she didn't mean it.

Happy to have Damian back. It's been good to watch some feel good/lighter stuff over the past two episodes. The tone of the show has drifted away from an upbeat, sun-kissed 1994 season. But we revisit it in between the major (darker) storylines at the moment and I really like that because 1994 is probably up there as one of my favourite seasons.

Steven and Marilyn seem odd together just because they don't match, rather than anything to do with an age difference.

yes thats what I meant by odd, lack of chemistry rather then age gap.

I agree some of the more humorous and light hearted storylines are a nice change from the intensity of late.  Fishers orange hair was funny, and it was good to see Damo back again, even if he has turned all hippy, love and peace:lol:,  dreadlocks and all!  Speaking of hair, Irene desperately needs a bottle blonde touch up, her dark roots were showing badly in that episode:P

I am surprised Angel has chosen Marilyn to be godmother since they havn't known eachother very long and really don't seem that close?  It would have been nice for her to choose Sarah so she could also make a reappearance, and then the teen group could have been reunited.

Nice to have Damien back but Matt Doran had to be wearing one of those Jamaican looking beanies with the dreadlocks attached because surely that wasnt his real hair.

Ok a huge error in this christening storyline. Did I miss something or didn't see him but where was Don? He is family to Shane and Angel and there is no way he would or should have missed it. Nice to see Pippa get a chance to dress up and venture out somewhere.

Wow some car crash. Cannot believe Rad just climbed out and ran off not scratches and just leaves Jack there.
