really disliking this Rad guy and the way he is leading Jack astray:angry2:

yes Don was a notable absence at the christening.  I suppose when the characters are not in an episode, they don't appear no matter how big the occassion is, Shangels wedding was another example.  I don't think there would be many occasions when the whole cast featured in an episode.  They all seem to have runs and then disappear for periods of time.

Poor Dylan, he is such a cute kid, and he does quite a good job at acting for his age.

The graveyard and poetry scene were quite deep, and then the baby coffin in the church tied it all together well. was very sad:(

I realize now how much itv cut out of that car crash. The scene was missing all the driving and actual crash and started with the car on it's side.

Nice to see Fisher take the wind out of Shannon's sails like that, the little sanctimonious and self-righteous bitch. Also that he didn't care what she thinks.

All these years on I wondered what it was that I never liked about Angel. In retrospect I think it might have been this storyline. She loves Dylan so much and couldn't bear to lose him, funny how then she didn't see him for the first three years of his life. Now suddenly he is her whole world.

I'm not sure whether to post this here or in Quick Questions or another thread but anyway.......

The character of "Rad", short for "comrad", Jack's mate, played by Rudi Baker. Appeared in Episodes 1759 through to 1765. First appeared on the show getting off a truck he hitched into town, then Jack watches him steal a pair of sunglasses from a topless sports car parked near the place where Alsa's old shop once stood. Steals Mr Fisher's money, and offers it to Jack as a thankyou for not dobbing him in. He and Jack hang out together as mates. "Rad" tells Jack he hops from town to town, running away before he gets recognised and caught. Says he sleeps rough outside on beaches etc. Mentions he had slept rough on beaches in southern Queensland before coming to Summer Bay. He appears to be familiar with hotwiring and stealing cars. Jack appears to use him to help him get all the way to Western Australia (that is a hell of a long way by car, Jeez!). Rad drives the car really fast. Rad runs away apparently leaving Jack to burn alive in the car after crashing it, and Jack now has to wear the consequences of this joyriding incident. Some mate!

Question: what sort of character profile type is this short-staying character? Why did he run away from home? Was he a needy street kid or someone (like Dodge) who didn't mind sleeping rough yet had no respect for other people's property? And why does he drive so dangerously? Did he somehow think he'd get to WA quicker that way?

I liked Pippa telling Fisher to "get a life" over his victimization of Shannon. I like when Pippa shows a bit of backbone, it doesn't happen often enough.

Shannon went too far telling everyone about Fisher's hair but then any of the students would probably have done the same. She tried to do the decent mature thing in the end, reaching out to him and trying to bridge the gap between him and the students, but he turned her down. I have no sympathy with him, he's out of touch even by 1995 standards.

The bush fire. Great episode. And the introduction of Dr Kelly Watson. Poor Don lost his house but it's no great loss to the show as it's hardly been seen for months anyway. To be honest, I'm surprised Shane and Angel didn't lose their house. It's been almost 20 seconds since they had a drama, and Angel has now stopped moaning at Shane about Dylan, she needs something else to blame him for.

She reminds me of Rachel Armstrong quite a lot. She seemed to have a very nice bedside manner with Nelson and Sally. Caring but professional.

Stevo's chronic fire phobia seemed to be forgotten about. Wasted opportunity there. Seeing him flip out over memories of his parents and Uncle Philip would have provided a good set up for you-know-who's upcoming return.

Why shouldn't he turn her down? Shannon is a petulant and annoying self-righteous bitch

Wow that was some car crash. Poor Nelson. He copped the full brunt of that explosion especially on his back and face. Jack just walks away with barely a scratch but the whole town will probably be against him. So the school got affected and poor Don lost his house. Am I wrong in saying he lost another house previously?

Not sure how Rad and Jack thought they would get to WA. Don't think that car would have got them there and I'm guessing petrol would have been an issue but they probably would have stolen that.

So now we see Kelly come into the show. I liked her and thought she was a good character. Gosh hasnt the hospital changed a bit in 20 years.

Hope Chris Hale catches up with Rad soon.

I can't get rid of the above post, sorry for posting a blank post.

That was compelling viewing. Except for Angel of course I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Poor Don :( but I feel sorry for Nelson the most. He saved Jack's life but then he becomes a victim. How is that fair? Jack gets away with barely a scratch. He's the one who caused the bushfire and yet all he gets is a a slap on the wrist.
