MarMar Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 To all Mac users... How easy/hard are Mac laptops to set up and use? Is it a challenge? I ask because I'm thinking that, if this Paris trip idea falls through, I may get another laptop and I decided that instead of just getting a windows laptop, I should get a Mac. What do you guys think? Just give me a few pointers, mmmkay? 1. It is extremely easy to set up. You open it, turn it on, decide a master password etc, timezone, internet connection all that. It comes with a very good manual where you find out almost everything you need to (if something goes wrong). If you can't find it in the manual, there's always Google and boards. 2. Some people think that OSX is a weird OS. However, it fell more naturally for me than any Windows OS. 3. Macs are extremely easy to carry around. I have a 12" and it's so easy to bring it with me to school etc. As Apple says, you should be able to bring it with you without being afraid of it falling apart. If you get a Mac, I would advice you to get a "second skin" for it so that you can carry it around with you without worrying. The "second skin" (the one I have) comes in many colors and from different brands, and they are all "water resistant" + they keep your Mac safe from scratching. 3. As for software. All Miscrosoft software exists for Mac. Quote
MarMar Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 Talk to you later, Sweetie. I posted some stuff about Mac in the GO. Let me know if you want any links or anything. Quote

Pierced Musie Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 I would need to figure out if AOL can run on a Mac first. This is only if the Paris trip doesn't happen this year. The prices for macs aren't actually that bad. I am about to look for one on the internet. I'm keeping my other laptop though. It's just that the laptop I have is quite big and I would like one that is smaller. *squeee* This is exciting. Quote
MarMar Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 AOL? As is... ISP? You can also get student prices for Macs. Quote
Pierced Musie Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 AOL is my internet connection so I guess it's ISP. I don't actually get how it works but I'll figure it out. And student prices? Would you have to be a student for that? ;) Quote
MarMar Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 Any ISP work. There is no reason why it shouldn't. It's the same signal as any other ISP. Quote
Liz Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 I headed over to the forum you're promoting in your sig, Jess. I couldn't resist the temptation of the table dancing. Looks good, I have to say. Quote
Pierced Musie Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 That was my home for 4 years. It's been abandoned for a while but some of them have come back. And the ones who are back love the table dancing. And getting wet... Quote
