They do work experience in Yr 10 here, but as I did the TAFE equilivant I didnt do it.

I think it would be more valuable to me than my english class at the moment. It took the whole hour lesson to read through 3 pages of play. Its hopless!

When I started school, you began with 1st grade when you were 7 (I turned 7 that year), but now they've changed it to 6 instead of 7, but they don't do the same in 1st grade as they did when I went there.

You have 7 years in "Barneskolen" (Barn=children)

3 years in "Ungdomsskolen" (Ungdom=teenager/adolecence)

and then 3 years in "videregående" --> There you choose different subjects. I did arts and had to do one extra year to get my "generell studiekompentanse" (the diploma you need if you want to study). Other subjects are plumbing, music etc, and you can of course just do maths etc (not get a profession) and have your "studiekompentase" after the 3 years.

We have primary school which you start when you are five, it has junior infants, senior infants, 1st class up to sixth class aged11/12 .

Then we go to secondary school in third year we do a big state exam called the junior certificate, then you either do 4th yr or go into 5 th year, in 5th year you decided what subjects to do for the other big state exam in 6th year called the leaving cert.

How well you do in your leaving cert determines what you can do in college it is based on a point s systems, the max. points you can get is 600 and if you get this you can be a doctor, but aloty of people would on avertage get 400 points, so noone really like s the points system as it is so stressfull.

Some people are so lucky with their work experience placements! I did mine in Year 10, last year, when I was 15, and it was SO boring! I'm sorry if anyone here is thinking of going into dentistry as a profession when they are older or whatever, but looking in people's mouths day after day (luckily we only had a week) is not tres fun! The only positive thing that I got out of the whole experience is that it has made me realise that I so don't want to be a dentist!!!! On a more positive note, I'm hoping to study Italian at Uni and I'm off to Milan today for a week.....yayayayayayayayayayayay! Sorry. Slightly OTT! But I'm haaaapy!
