Guevara01 Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 English Language i think, there aren't many places you can study it. The prospectus for Manchester just looks great, it is a bit early though i'm only doing AS now, i told you i was counting down the days! What do you study? xxx Quote
Emma_B Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 I'm doing French and German. English Language is part of the same school I am in. I know people doing it. Its really good! And Manchester is a really cool place! What kind of music do you like? Quote
Guevara01 Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 Those sound like good courses, what year of uni are you in? Most kinds of music, Indie and rock mostly, but i can listen to other types. Not really into rap or anything though. I also like country music lol! What about you? xxx Quote
Emma_B Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 I like all kinds but mainly Rock and Indie. Reason i ask is cos I wanted to tell you about 5th Avenue, which is the best club ever. It's all Rock and Indie, mostly commercial but non-commercail also, every day, and it is so cheap! £2 for a double spirit. I'm sure you will be there nearly as much as me! Quote
Guevara01 Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 I probably will lol ;) my parents are obsessing over Cambridge at the moment though, it's closer to us and they want me to go there. I disagree. I'd rather stand on my own two feet, but i probably wont last. I can't even get toast right and i have no money lol xx Quote
Emma_B Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 I don't want to influence you but I was under a lot of pressure to apply to Oxbridge but I knew I would hate it. Its a lot work, and a very study-focused environment, and I knew it wasn't what I wanted. I say if its not for you dont do it. Quote
Guevara01 Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 Yeah, i know what you mean about it. I feel pressure everytime my tutor even mentions it. I'd like somewhere with a balance, where i can kick back sometimes and not worry about studying. I'm a huge procrastinator though, so i could be making things worse! If you have any tips on how to deal with putting things off by the way, i'd be very grateful. I'm really glad i managed to find someone who studies at manchester, because it's sort of an unbiased opinion. I've never been to the city before, but i love huge places, so i should be fine. Thankyou for helping me. xx Quote
Emma_B Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 I remember my History teacher getting at me about Cambridge when I was in Year 12. I felt like I was always justfying myself. I think everyone can imagine what it would be like to be at Oxbridge and if you don't want to be there then don't. Its really hard though, you have to be really strong and sure of yoyrself to resist the pressue. But, think of the stress if you do apply - intervies for course, aptitude tests, interviews with colleges.... I think you need to really want it to put yourself through that! Quote
Guevara01 Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 (edited) Ha, i agree, plus if you don't get in to Oxbridge after everyone's told you that you could, that must knock your self confidence. xxx I need to go now or i'm going to fall asleep on my keyboard lol, but my email adress is on my profile, or you can PM me sometime if you want x Edited February 16, 2006 by Guevara01 Quote
Emma_B Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 (edited) I'll speak to you soon I'm sure. Have a good sleep! *Sends a kiss "mwah" and lots of love* xxx Edited February 16, 2006 by Emma_B Quote
