Holly
That is going to extremes but I sort of see the point. By law here 16 is the age of consent, yet legal drinking age is 18. This is saying that a child at 16 is old enough to decide whether or not they are ready to have sex but not wether or not they can drink alcahol. A bit twisted in my view. Andy
Yea, that does have some truth to it. But my parents aren't like that... and neither am I. I've never had a drink without my parents knowing ('cept once lol). And I don't want to have sex anytime soon either (while we're on the subject). I was much the same at your age, I think the only alcohol I would of had would of been maybe a sip of wine that my parents gave me at dinner sometimes. But of course I knew of others my age who were getting drunk and having sex, but those were the ones who looked old for their age and I'd say it safe to assume the majority I knew weren't at 14, but I guess things are a little different now only 6 or 7 years later and it does seem that kids are growing up faster both mentally and physically. But anyway, back on the parents thing, it shocked me at Christmas when my Aunt and Uncle allow my 8 year old cousin to have half a glass of wine with the meal. A sip would be fine, but half a glass....
Terry
Th french allow their kids to drink wine with meals, and they have a low rate of alcoholism. I think its because its no big thing. Getting drunk and going into bars at 15/16/17 was far more exciting than it was at 18, precisly because it wasn't legal. It's the excitement of doing something you know you shouldn't. I think kids are havning sex earlier because it is everywhere you look. Kids magazines telling 11 year olds how to kiss, TV programmes whch talk about girlfriends and boyfriends with 10 year olds, or kids clothes are mini versions of adult ones. Kids are not allowed to be kid anymore. I think that's sad. There is a lot of pressure on kids to have sex these days.

I feel sorry for the ones that end up with babies at the end of it all at ages like 15/16. Sorry but it's no way to even begin your life. I'm 18 and haven't got my life sorted yet. MarMar
It's 16 in Norway, but if both kids are under 16, it's ok... It's there to make sure older people don't take advantage of children, etc.
