I heard the Ch4 is waiting to send it because they wants to promote it properly.. But it's weird to wait that long, almost a year after it started in US.. But I guess they have their reasons.. It's worth the wait though!  :D

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Channel 4 got the rights for Lost around the time that the got the rights for Desperate Housewives, but they decided to show Point Pleasant (which turnied out to be a massive flop) at the beginning of the year, and have saved Lost for the summer.

If they had just put Lost on in the first place we would have all seen it by now!!

Lost's finale a well-kept secret

Date: 19/08/05

By Jonathon Moran

The season finale to hit American TV show Lost was kept such a close secret that not even the cast were told how it would end.

And it may leave some questions unanswered for eager fans.

"My general impression is that by the ... finale, that people were a little disappointed that there wasn't much more information than in the cliffhanger," said Matthew Fox, who plays neurosurgeon Jack Shepard, of the final episode which will be broadcast in Australia next week.

"And I would say then that the first three episodes of this year (season two) are going to blow their minds and almost rock them back on their heels.

"So I would say, hold on to your hats and pay attention."

The show, created by JJ Abrahams, revolves around a group of survivors from Oceanic flight 815 which crashed en route from Sydney to Los Angeles, leaving the group stranded on a mysterious tropical island in the South Pacific.

Lost, which is filmed in Hawaii, focuses not only on the castaways' survival, but features flashbacks of the characters lives prior to their being lost on the island.

Other castaways include mysterious criminal Kate Austin (Evangeline Lilly), druggie rocker Charlie Pace (Dominic Monaghan), cursed lottery winner Hurley (Jorge Garcia), conman Sawyer (Josh Holloway), Korean housewife Sun (Yoon-Jin Kim), and the only Australian character on the show Claire Littleton (Emily de Ravens).

"The parts of the finale, some pages (of the script) we weren't even allowed to see," Yoon-Jin said at the series one DVD launch in Hawaii.

"We were told to call one of the executive producers to find out. It is all about secrets and that is part of Lost."

The US drama screens on the Seven Network and has been ratings winner for the broadcaster this year with the final episode expected to be no exception.

Some two million viewers are expected to watch the series cliffhanger on August 25 at 8.30pm (AEST).

In that episode, a group of castaways on a raft are given a huge surprise while their friends on the island continue to try to find out what is in the mysterious underground hatch.

And a visitor to the encampment might to be threat to Claire's infant son.

"The fact that his island is possessed or strange in some way, that things are able to happen that generally wouldn't, let them write whatever they want to write, which is really cool," de Ravens said of the show's success.

The Australian actor wouldn't give much away about the second series, which won't be seen Australian TV until next year.

"Hatch is very interesting, that is about all I know," she said.

"It is definitely going to change season two for us, the group dynamics.

"(But) the baby is still there and it still looks normal ... I don't know if he is."

Terry O'Quinn, who plays Lock, prefers producers keep him in the dark on future episodes.

"They don't tell us anything," he said. "I am perfectly happy with that. It is like not having the burden of knowledge."

O'Quinn attributed the show's success to its strong story lines.

"It is a hit around the world for a similar reason that it is a hit in the States - because it is a mystery, adventure, and romance," he said.

"It is an international cast and it is honest, clear entertainment."

Fox agreed, adding that mythology was also an important aspect of the show.

"I honestly just think it is really riveting story-telling," Fox said.

"This story has never been told before, so there are no preconceived notions of that. There are no parameters, you can go anywhere."

The Lost cast has spent the past few months on summer hiatus, exploring other projects, and have been back at work over the past two weeks.

So far, they have shot the first two episodes of the second series.

"There is more pressure on us this year because of the success of the show," Fox said.

"The audience is as big as it ever has been and still growing."

Lost airs on the ABC Network in the United States and is nominated for 12 awards at the upcoming Emmys.

The show now screens in more than 180 countries around the world.

In Australia the show averages up to two million viewers each week and is one of the year's most popular shows, behind Desperate Housewives.

The pilot episode was one of the most expensive in television history, costing more than $US11 million ($A14.5 million) to make.

It drew an audience of 2.48 million people when aired in Australian in February.

Seven's director of corporate communications Simon Francis said he expected the finale to be one of the most watched programs of 2005.

"It's audience this year in Australia is far greater than its audience share in America,' Francis said.

"In terms of the percentage of the population watching it, Australia is by far its biggest market.

* The grand finale of Lost will air on Seven on August 25 at 8.30pm (AEST). The series one DVD will be released nationally on November 30.

:unsure:Cheers for the Mod! who put it into two spoilers for us!!

So what did we all think of the finale?

Was a bit of a let down for me really.

Had to laugh though at Sevens next week style promo with the words "Lost - returns February 2006"

Yeah it was a bit of a let down. Not much seemed to happen, not enough anyway. I wanted more answers. But it was still good and there is quite enough to keep me interested.

I'm sick of hearing everywhere I go people saying "The finale was a letdown". For god's sake it was one of the best episodes of the season without a doubt! I think people are just a little frustrated that more questions began than were answered, but I like that as it really keeps me in suspense for the next season.

Biggest shock of the episode for me was Walt being stolen by what I'm guessing were "the other's" and then the boat being blown up. Great stuff. Such a great finale for a fantastic series. Can't wait till 06. :)

On sunrise on Friday morning they had talkback TV, and one caller changed the subject and out of no where started saying they were disapointed with the finale, and Mel and Kochie were stuck for words trying to defend it. Classic live TV

Yes, they were the others. If you remember Rousseau had said she heard the others say they were going after the boy, but she thought they meant Claire's baby.

The supernatural undercurrents on Lost are less remarkable than the collection of dubious characters on that one missing plane. Sure, everybody has a story, but the next time you're on Jetstar, just look around and ask yourself if every single passenger is running from a secret that will unravel horribly should you find yourselves on Gilligan's Island together without a change of clothes.

Lost left us for another season on Thursday. Let's pray that over the summer they all get a haircut and a leg wax. It's not going to happen. When they wrapped Kate's shirt in dynamite last week, I knew it would blow up. Where's she going to get another shirt quite so dreary? No Gap or Banana Republic in sight, and for the rest of the survivors, there's no hope of a wardrobe change.

Lost wins the night for Seven

13:23 AEST Fri Aug 26 2005

The season clincher to the hit US series Lost may have left many questions unanswered but it won the ratings for Seven on Thursday night.

The season one finale attracted a viewing audience of 2.08 million people, making Lost the most watched program of the night.

Seven News was the second most watched program with 1.45 million viewers, followed by Today Tonight, The Mole, Home and Away and the National Nine News.

Seven secured a total audience share of 31.3 per cent for the night, followed by Nine's 25.5 per cent and Ten's 15.9 per cent.

The overall week is set to be a race to the finish between Nine and Seven.

Week-to-date figures show Nine slightly ahead with 28.6 per cent of the total viewing audience and Seven at 28.3 per cent. Ten is at 20.4 per cent.

Lost first aired in Australia in February, attracting an audience of 2.48 million people.

The show, created by JJ Abrams, revolved around a group of survivors from Oceanic flight 815 which crashed en route from Sydney to Los Angeles, leaving the group stranded on a mysterious tropical island in the South Pacific.

Matthew Fox, who plays Jack Shepard on the hit show, said fans in the US were disappointed by the lack of answers in the season one finale.

The episode ended without showing what exactly was in the mysterious hatch and with viewers wondering who died when the raft was blown up.

"My general impression is that by the ... finale, that people were a little disappointed that there wasn't much more information than in the cliffhanger," Fox said recently.

"And I would say then that the first three episodes of this year (season two) are going to blow their minds and almost rock them back on their heels.

"So I would say, hold on to your hats and pay attention."

Lost will return to Seven next year.

I thought it was a GREAT episode. It's left me wondering what's going to happen to poor Walt and what's in that hatch. Can't wait for next season.
