Thanks for making that clear, I have a friend named Zig, so you could of been talking about a new character :)

Really? What a unique name!

I mean I assumed it would be obvious but I guess seeing as I am making up characters you never know

Once again I thank you for the kind things you have said. I'm beginning to catch up now so I really need to get writing. Maybe I'll try and write a chapter before bed every night.

Hope you all had/have a lovely Monday. And if I don't come back before - Have a great week!

Chapter 12

Diner after school?” Tori text Raffy. They'd agreed on their girls night last night (that much of what Mason told Brody was true), with Tori having the morning shift today, they'd sort out the interview for Raffy's project after school. Tori was a bit nervous, but probably less nervous than the boys. At least this way she could give them some warning on what to expect, whether it was going to be very intrusive or just a general chat. Her phone buzzed.

Sounds good, I'll be there by 4.” Sorted. Now all Tori had to do was endure the rest of this boring morning shift. The curse of Summer Bay hadn't struck yet today, for that Tori was glad – but it did result in her actually having to do heaps and heaps of paperwork.

Mason came through the door of where she was working.

“Hey, I didn't know you were here,” Tori said when she saw him. “What time did you start?” Mason looked a bit lost, he fidgeted uncomfortably for a few seconds and eventually spoke.

“Oh, not long. I just came to see if there was anything you wanted me to do?” Mason dropped his bag on the chair in front of him. Obviously the quiet day was hospital wide, Tori handed Mason some of the paperwork in front of her, asking if he'd like to help her. “Sure,” he looked at what was put in his hands. “I'll go find somewhere quiet to get through it.” He was trying to avoid spending time with his family in case they asked questions.

“Oh it's okay, just pull up a chair here.” Tori seemed a bit confused “I'm not going to be here much longer, going to meet Raffy when she finishes school.” Mason hesitated, but moved his bag and sat up the chair none the less. If she was leaving soon, how bad could it be?

“Interview time is it?” Mason asked Tori, with a smirk.
“Yeah,” Tori sighed. “I figured if one of us got it out the way she'll stop keeping on about it with everyone else”. She also probably had the least interesting story to tell, meaning Raffy might decide it's not exciting enough!

“Good luck with that.” Mason told her, “I'm not exactly thrilled to be reliving that part of our life,” he muttered without lifting his eyes from his paperwork. Tori nodded her head in agreement.

Tori was unsure about whether to bring up the subject of Mason's lying and disappearing lately, or whether to leave it for him to come to her. She was aware that he'd told Brody he was working the other night, when she knew he wasn't. She didn't know why he'd lie about something they could easily check up on. She wanted to make sure he was okay. Brody had kept the family in the dark about his drug addiction for weeks, it killed her when she found out that he needed help, more help than he was willing to admit to needing. If something similar was going on with Mason, and he needed the family to help him, she'd never forgive herself.

“So,” Tori was hesitant in bringing up the conversation, but it needed to be asked. “Where have you been hiding lately?” She looked up at him, to see if there was any indication in his body language.

“What do you mean?” Mason looked up at her. His face as serious as serious could be. He wasn't going to give this away.

“Well...You've not been home much.” Tori wasn't sure whether to go full interrogation or try and get him to admit something willingly. Mason looked around the room and shrugged before looking back down at his paperwork.

“I don't know.” Mason was convinced if anyone was going to bring up this subject first it was going to be Brody. He could open up to his sister. He could tell her his secret and feel the weight lift from his shoulders. But should he? “I've just been...Out.” He was nervous. he was scared that this dangerous game he'd been playing with Ziggy would cost him his brother.

Tori wasn't buying it, she needed more information. “Okay, and where is out? Who with?”

Mason was starting to think that telling her pieces of information would get her off his back for the time being.

“I have started seeing someone.” Phew. That felt better. Tori could see the air leave Mason's body in a big relieving sigh.

“Is that all?” She smiled and shook her head. “Why didn't you tell us?” If only Mason knew what options had been going through Tori's mind. “We've been worried about you!” She told him.

“Well, we just wanted to see if it was going anywhere.” Mason still didn't want to mention her name. Maybe he could leave her out of it for the time being. “I think we decided it is.” He smiled remembering last nights conversation.

“Do we know her?” Tori asked with curiosity.

“She's just someone I know from uni.” Mason wasn't exactly lying about this. She studied Marketing at the same campus as him. He didn't necessarily meet her there, but that's where they became friends and started hanging out.

“When can we meet her?” Tori had gone full blown embarrassing family member now, you could tell by the smirk on her face that she was ready to get the baby photos of Mason out to be seen...He was such a cute, chubby baby.

“It's still early days. When we're ready to make it official, you'll know about it.” Mason was sure that when Brody found out about this relationship he was going to flip. He and Ziggy may be civil with each other but it doesn't stop that fact that Brody was interested first. It's like “bro code” except Brody and Mason were actually brothers. It was a situation that was going to get worse before it got better, but they couldn't wait around forever just to make sure he's okay.

Mason looked at his watch. It was 3:20pm. “Shouldn't you be heading to meet Raffy by now?” He asked Tori. She looked at her own watch and the look of panic washed her face.

She quickly scrambled to pick up her things and stood up, pushing her chair under the table.

“See you at home later?” Tori asked, although she was sure she already knew the answer.

“Maybe.” Mason gave a cheeky smile to his sister as she left the room.

Great chapter

Hope the interview with Tori goes well for Raffy.

Finally Mason told Tori he's been seeing someone.

Oh so Brody was interested in Ziggy first well that's currently a twist.

Update again soon :)

Oh so Tori's interview is up first, probably a good thing.

It doesn't surprise me that Brody was interested in Ziggy first. Mason may just end up dead because of this so he should tread lightly.

Great chapter. Please update as soon as you can.

Loved this brother sister scene between Mason and Tori. We don't really get enough of this in the show, or at least we haven't really until this week. I love that he was comfortable enough with her to confide in her, even if he was somewhat economical with the truth. The 'fit is probably going to hit the shan' when Brody finds out though. so I can definitely understand his reluctance to come clean completely. Not an easy situation. (Would you look at me, suddenly being all pro-Mason?! :o<_< It's the way you write him! lol!)
