It’s all written as if he is an only children the Rebecca is her only living grandchild. I'd only starting watching H&A in 1996, when I was 7, so I don't remember much about Isobel/that storyline. That's strange though - even if Clive has been "written out of existence", the Crofts actually appeared onscreen. Maybe Clive, Mary and Lou all died before she showed up in 1997 and Fisher didn't mention any of it to anyone?
Red Ranger 1 Posted January 15, 2019 Report Posted January 15, 2019 Mary was referenced as still being alive when Sophie and Tamara returned in 2003, as was the fact Don and Tamara were related.
adam436 Posted January 16, 2019 Author Report Posted January 16, 2019 I just watched episode 7 again, and Celia asks Roo "How's my favourite niece?", to which Roo replied "I'm your only niece". So clearly, the writers had no plans to expand Don's character at that point, as Rebecca was also Celia's niece through Barbara.
Homeandawayfan. Posted January 19, 2019 Report Posted January 19, 2019 Don may have been lying when he said he was an only child, for what reason he lied is unknown. Just another one of my theories to try and make sense of the continuity errors. Seems Don's sister was written back into existence in 2003 then. She appeared in 1993 for a few episode.
adam436 Posted January 19, 2019 Author Report Posted January 19, 2019 There are periods where I feel like Fisher could have done with some family members, notably late 1999/early 2000 when Rebecca and Travis, Sam, Marilyn and Bryon were all gone within about 6 months of each other. They didn't bother replacing the family in Fisher's life until we met Seb in the second half of 2001.
j.laur5 Posted January 19, 2019 Report Posted January 19, 2019 I used to think maybe Michael Ross could be Clive Fisher but then it might have made things a bit awkward since Donald just had a crush on Pippa.
Homeandawayfan. Posted January 23, 2019 Report Posted January 23, 2019 Clive probably moved away from Summer Bay and Don helped him pack offscreen. Even after he sacked them, Clive was probably sick of the antics of Lance and Martin, Summer Bay's answer to Del Boy Trotter and Rodney Trotter.
