Skykat Posted January 21, 2007 Report Posted January 21, 2007 Wow you've just made me realise it's a year tomorrow since I joined up. Feels like so much longer because I was a lurker for ages before I joined and I don't think I posted much at all for the first few months. That means its also nearly a year since I started my flying lessons because I got my first official lesson for christmas but couldn't use it until the end of January because of bad weather. I remember being so annoyed by it because I could fly, I just had to prove it my instructor and clock up my official flying hours to get my license. I can't believe thats been a year...

Dan F Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Yesterday we had Endemol (the production company behind Millionaire, Deal or No Deal, Restoration etc.) giving us a short lecture and Q&A session at Uni, and afterwards they wanted to see some student work. We showed them our documentary we've just completed and they absolutely loved it! The Head of Media was also there and said he wanted a meeting with us today. We really wanted him to see it at some point as he really knows his stuff, having worked for the BBC and freelance for several years. Anyway, we went along today, and not only did he gave us some good advice about selling it in the Peak District, but he also told us that Endemol themselves wanted a copy of it with all of our contact details! He's also going to send it to some contacts of his at BBC North who might be interested in broadcasting it and also to a contact at Channel 4! He told us the news that all of us weren't expecting to hear for a couple of years - that we had just created our foot in the door to get into the media industry. And that there is potential for creating a series. He even said that if we were suddenly offered jobs in the industry, that we wouldn't need to worry about finishing the last couple of months at Uni - he would just give us the degree! I don't know what will come of it, if anything at all, but I'm just celebrating the fact that we're getting our work recognised by some top media companies and they love it!
