Will we ever see Sally again?

Sally left Home and Away in 2008 but she returned for a brief stint in 2013. She hasn’t returned again since she left in September 2013. Kate Ritchie is one of Australia’s biggest icons.

Home and Away producers rarely bring back characters so do you think Sally will return for another guest stint in future?

Anything's possible. When it went a few years after her original stint, I was convinced we wouldn't see her again but we did. It's been even longer now but I wouldn't say the door's firmly shut.

I think anything is possible whilst any of Alf, Irene, Marilyn and Leah are still in the bay, I’d love to see Sally back now we have the Summer Bay House exterior, however Kate does seem to have distanced herself from the show, aside from posts about the 30th, she’s not commented on other things I’ve expected her to.

But we've got to remember Kate like everyone else does have a life outside of her acting, and I'm sure H&A probably is more important to Kate then most of the other actors who've appeared on the show.

Personally I don't think I want Sally back as a regular as I think we have enough people in that mother/middle aged role with Leah/Ruth/Maggie/Marilyn/Irene.

At the best of times Ruth and Marilyn are background charactes, and I worry Sally would just be used as Alf's second in command person to talk to like Ruth, and as another teacher at the school like Ruth, which kind of defeats the purpose of Ruth's role on the show.

She might be good to bring back one day if Ada or Lynne decide to leave.

Personally I'd rather see Pippa Snr return then Sally.

Agreed I think if they were to bring back Sally she would be just used as Alf's second in demand, unless they actually create family oriented meaningful storylines. If Sally were to return they would need to bring back Pippa Jr as Sally is her only caregiver. As Pippa would be aged 15 (approx) she would become friends with Ryder and Bella. Although I would have to agree a return stint for Pippa Sr is long overdue as it is hard to belief her last appearance was 11 years ago! But with H&A's dramatic storylines I agree with Debra Lawrence, the character of Pippa wouldn't fit in as the bay has too much drama.

My big concern if Sally comes back is that they’re going to have to kill Pippa Jnr off at some point, although I’ve read that some people with Mitochondrial disease can live long lives.

No, I can't see it happening. My guess is that Kate Ritchie would see it as a retrograde step now that she has her radio career established. She also has her own daughter now and is branching out into other things. It's unlikely she needs Home and Away any more. I doubt they need her either. It's hard to slot a long-gone character back into a show anyway, especially if things have changed greatly in the meantime. Sally would no more belong on the show now than Pippa Snr.

I could see her coming back if it made sense for the storyline and was only a short stint...that and if it didn't interfere with her current career. Then again, I felt like her last appearance felt very final.
