I dont watch home and away for long time ,but because many talked about the final episode ,i decide to chuck it ,and was suprise to see

Macca MacKenzie the brother of martha 'who beat cassie back in 2006-2007 play scott now 'and i wonder why home and away keep doing

that? in us soaps actor back only to play his character, here there is no respect to the past and the legecy of the show 'every second actor return as some one else ,how can it be stupid if this scott meet alf in the coffee?

Wouldn't he recognize his granddaughter's brother? the same they did with Belinda Giblin who back as alf lost wife martha '
they think we stupid we not reammber its michale ross ex wife? if they would done this thing one in a millyon i will didnt care ,but it happen too much

so if this the case why not bring back dieter brummer(shane)

luisa hastings edge(sarah lewis)

emily perry(zoe) and make sci f show ,this stuff in my opinion is bull ****'bring back actors to play who they were 'simply as that

John Adam (Luke Cunningham) returned as Decker back in 2016 too. I wasn't watching the show when Macca was on, but I understand he was around for nearly a year, perhaps longer than some regulars.

The problem is that there are a limited number of working actors in Australia and H&A has been running for so long, so it's inevitable that eventually some of them will be "recycled". Honestly, I have no problem when the show does it with guest stars. For example, Rohan Nichol who plays Ben Astoni had a guest role back in 2004 and Belinda Giblin had two guest roles prior to Martha, but I find it sad and frustrating when a former regular returns a guest; it's like the show just ignores its history, such as with John Adam.

Neighbours has been guilty of this for years. There have been a handful of former regulars, albeit short-lived ones, who have returned for guest role, such as Benjamin Mitchell, Darius Perkins, Alyce Platt and Alexandra Fowler (off the top of my head, there may have been more!). Again, it's the same issue with it running for 35 years.

i uplod this point 'cause many people always anger that ,home and away dont bring back

characters from the past, but dont talk about the missing point of bring back actors to play other role ,and even rohan nichol like you said play

mystrey Stafford McRae danny friend in 2004 ,i wish he would back as this

Character, cause in some way maybe it could open a reason to danny come visit? ( i know tamin sursuok will not back ) ,you know what i could leave with this stuff

but they did this with hayden ross, michale son in 2013 and with many actors so many times 'and i wonder ? why the hell not bring them as orginal character? it could open a door to great things and bring more names from the past 'as long they keep doing this its hurt

In the credibility of the series, and lets not forget vinnie mum the same actrees who play don fisher big enamy in school in 1991

all this things are simply embarrassing

You do realise it's a television show, right? Television shows reuse actors? Yes, it can be jarring when someone who played a notable role in the past appears as a new character, especially if they were very prominent and recognisable and it wasn't that long ago, but suggesting that they're somehow meant to be the same character and asking why Scott Larkin doesn't recognise Alf and mention that he used to be Martha's adopted brother is missing the point spectacularly: Because he didn't, he's a different character. I don't think there's been a television or film series in history that hasn't reused actors. Not one that didn't get cancelled very quickly anyway. If this bothers you, then I watched the old 1950s Adventures of Robin Hood series and the reuse of actors is incredible: They were obviously treating it like weekly rep, with the same company of actors playing new roles every week, so you have the same actor appearing as a villain, a villager or a Merry Man in consecutive episodes.Sometimes even the same episode:You can see the same people playing the Sheriff's guards who were in Robin's band a couple of scenes earlier.

I can understand people feeling that actors reappearing mean their original characters are unlikely to reappear (although I believe Neighbours and EastEnders have got round that by recasting the original roles). But really, what were the chances of Luke Cunningham popping by to visit the two people that knew him 25 years later?

what were the chances of Luke Cunningham popping by to visit the two people that knew him 25 years ago? maybe nothing ,but it could use as away to nostalgia to the old fans ,look how neighbours bring legend from the past back all the time ,with this year the return of the beckley sisters who no one imagine they will ever return ,if home and away were bring past actor to play other character one time in 10 years 'we could leave with that ,the problem they do it very often 'and like i said in us soaps ,when actor return 99% it always his orginal role ,for some reason home and away dont go on this direction ,its not suprise me that many past stars are in the last few years on neighbours 'home and away prodcut dosent respect the show past ,they not intrsting bring back from time to time legends ,and by bring back actors to play other character they prove it ,

Every...single...show does this.It is not a unique thing to Home and Away.It is how television works. If you're using US soaps as an example of respecting the past, then you really are scraping the bottom of the barrel. They've infamous for their extreme SORASes to an extent that Home and Away would never dream of doing and casually bringing back characters who've died on screen in unambiguous manners.Home and Away isn't reusing "legends", they're not having Norman Coburn or Judy Nunn turn up as a different character, they're reusing actors that 90% of the audience won't remember have been in it before anyway, just like Neighbours did when they brought back Alexandra Fowler, a regular on the show from 30 years earlier, as a character who had appeared played by a different actress 30 years earlier, stating that there was no scope for bringing back her original character.

Honestly, how many roles has Jeffrey Combs played in Star Trek?

I'm usually not against it for all the reasons that Red has already mentioned, but there is one exception...I can't for the life of me understand why they bought Socratis Otto back for two episodes to play a completely different character to the one that was fairly popular only 10 years ago.A seemingly irrelevant counsellor at that.

Luke Cunningham is not a very memorable character anyway. He has no ties to current Summe Bay, and only knew Alf and Irene.

If Kathryn Ridley returned to H&A as a different character to Alison Patterson then some may find it jarring but 31 years has passed since Alison was in The Bay.

It would be different if Shane Withington left and the returned as a different character to Palmer a year or 2 later. The more years elapsing, the more a recast can work.

i agree Luke Cunningham is not a very strong character ,but still he is memorable for the long time fans ,and he was on the show golden era 1993 and 1994 ,so to see john adam as luke still more interesting tpo me than see him as a new guy , What was wrong to see Locke come in surprise to Irene and Elf and play them with the sax, it could be a cult moment and maybe we could see a guest return of elizabeth lackkey with this, its look like the prodcut dont put a damm on long time fans 'and like lynd said. Socratis Otto who play detective robert robertson for 2 years ,back for two episodes to play a completely different character to the one that was fairly popular only 10 years ago.its simply spittinfg in ther face, i didnt watch the show on the time he was in, but i know that if one day nic bishop will return not as detective peter baker 'but some one else ,some one will need send the prodcut to psychiatrist
