emmasi
OC won't be on this week due to taking a week break in the US. So are we getting these episodes in Australia at the same time as the US? Because I couldn't work out how we got that New Year's episode on time. ~Lynd~
II don't watch it but i think i read something saying that we get them pretty close after they've aired in the US,so we aren't that far behind.
claire_louise
OC won't be on this week due to taking a week break in the US. It's not necessarily ending for good. This season was always intended for 16 episodes. I will be surprised if it's not renewed for a 5th season. With the new US network CW I 'm pretty sure it will be renewed. The thing is though, it's not just about whether the network wants another series, but whether the stars want to continue. I don't know about the others, but I read an interview with Rachel Bilson recently in which she clearly said that she thought the show had run it's course. And after the Brody/Bilson split, it seems likely that Adam Brody might want to call it a day as well. It takes a pretty strong person to continue working with their ex day in day out, especially so soon after they split.
emmasi
Some people consider the OC a soap, and it does have soap elements. So if they wanted to keep the series going, they could try to gradually replace the characters.
The Cure
Ratings took a significant nose-dive in season 3, and have plummeted even further in Season 4. The network are interested in viewing figures-if the OC isn't getting them, it will get the chop. The fact that he network ordered only 16 episodes (instead of the usual 24) shows their lack of faith in the show in the moment. With Barton gone and Bilson about to leave, I imagine that will be the final nail in the coffin. Note that Rachel said "I think the show is done.", not "I'm done." Sounds like it has been pretty much agreed that the OC will end after this run, unless it has a massive ratings revivial, which seems very unlikely. Guevara01
Won't trawl through loads of pages here, so i'll just give my opinion on this page. After Marissa's death, i didn't see how the show could even go to season 4, especially as Summer/Ryan were off to college. I thought they'd just do a one-off special giving Marissa's character a proper send-off and ending the show. I'm not a big fan of Kaityln Cooper, and from what i've seen of season 4 (not a lot, admittedly), although i like Taylor, it's not the OC. It's a completely different show. If Rachel/Summer were to leave as well, i wouldn't watch anymore. As it is, i'm going to test drive the new season when it starts on E4 soon, and hope it's okay. xxx
xGlowingAngelx
I only started watching this season. (Silly I know, but I'm going to look into buying the DVD's to catch up) and I must admit, I'm looking foward to seeing the storylines now that Marissa/Mischa has left. Personally, I think the series just aired (3 was it?) was totally centered around Marissa/Ryan/Volchok. It seemed like they'd forgotten there was other characters in the show. Im hoping that the new series will give those characters a chance to shine. I'm also looking forward to seeing how Summer and Ryan will cope without Marissa. Amir
OC won't be on this week due to taking a week break in the US. It's not necessarily ending for good. This season was always intended for 16 episodes. I will be surprised if it's not renewed for a 5th season. With the new US network CW I 'm pretty sure it will be renewed. Actually, The OC doesn't air on The CW. It airs on FOX. It used to be part of WB, but after they broke up they sold it to FOX, apparently. But, anyway, I hope it doesn't end. The main problem is that the day which The OC airs on is the same day that Greys Anatomy and CSI air, and they all are on at the same time. Basically that is what I see as the lack of audience. Greys and CSI are the states #1 and #2 most watched shows there.
bay girl
What really annoyed me; when the show first started it was originally supposed to be about the Cohens, plus one; Ryan. But then all of a sudden it was all about Marissa, Marissa, and Marissa. And that's why i stopped watching. I was never a Marissa fan and i'm so glad that she is gone; (sorry Marissa fans). Yeah, from what i've read on fanbolt; 'The CW ' have showed a little/some interest in putting The O.C on their station. I'm really starting to like the O.C again, so i hope it continues.
