The OC

Why do people keep insisting that Marissa was THE character of the show? She wasn't! She wasn't even that good an actress! There are other characters. I think this season should be given a good run instead of just giving up.

*rant over.

Agreed.

Like i said once before; the show was originally supposed to be about the Cohens plus one; Ryan. And then all of a sudden it was about friggin Marissa. And that's why i stopped watching. If she was still in the show, i doubt i'd be watching it. It appeals to me more now that she is gone.

I always liked to watch it because of the family element. I loved Ryan's relationship with the Cohen's. But then it just disappeared, because it turned into 'The Marissa Show'. She had too many problems for my liking. It got boring and old.

Taylor has definitely brought a new freshness to the show. She's the reason i started watching The O.C again. I would have liked to have seen her relationship with Ryan grow, but we won't get to see it coz the seasons been cut to the 16 eps.

I really would have liked to have seen a full season.

Well said Bay Girl. I agree with pretty much you said.

The O.C isn't going to be on next week; many thanks to the Golden Globes. Damn it.

Golden Globes can go jump for all i care.

Gahh...why does Ten have to show everything on Tuesday? We deserve a douple ep.

I hadn't read this thread before now, now that I've seen the OC and heard that man say, "The OC will not be shown next week due to the Golden Globes (who watches it & cares anyway?? We are our own country ... we do NOT need to see some American Awards show. What are the Golden Globes even for??) but will return on January 23rd (the following week) at the new timeslot of 9.30pm. Firstly new timeslot. Soo uncool. For starters the OC has always ALWAYS been shown at 8.30 on Tuesdays on channel 10. ALWAYS. They are breaking with tradition when we only have like 7 or 8 episodes left EVER. The majority of the OC's audience, I assume, are teenage girls, like myself. Who, in 3 weeks will be returning to school. Basically the later timeslot, does not mean it will attractive more viewers (say people who watched the beginning and eventually lost interest, who may've heard that it was going to be cancelled and have subsequently decided to tune it) but most likely LOSE viewers. Also, when a channel changes a shows timeslot, especially to a later one, it seems to be that they are losing faith in the show. Moving the show's timeslot will not improve ratings. There are only a few weeks left of the show, you think that channel 10, could at least have some courtesy to the show's fans and just play the remaining episodes with the respect it deserves.

Now ... what is channel 10 going to show in this 8.30pm timeslot? The answer to this question has been bugging me for the past hour. I still have got no clues, but I could guess maybe a few repeats of the Simpsons which have been aired only a couple of a hundred times or perhaps some more Smallville (who watches that? Surely it can not get better ratings then The OC & Veronica Mars).

Not that I should be surprised by this behaviour. Channel 10 constantly do this. One Tree Hill, well they didn't even show the entire first season before it was shoved to midday on Saturdays. 7th Heaven, it may be abit past it's peak, but surely deserves a better timeslot then 12pm weekdays. Veronica Mars, another amazing show, which they showed a few episodes of before moving to 10.30pm (at the earliest, I believe this week it's around 11.30 but check your local guides for more exact details). Charmed, was supposed to be being shown this summer. I think we might have just seen the 5th episode of the eighth and final season. Then we hear, Charmed will return shortly. I believe this may be never, considering season 8 is to be released in February on dvd. I'm soo frustrated ... I've decided tomorrow I'm going to write to channel 10 and write to the Courier Mail. I'm sure it won't have much of an effect but at least I'll feel like I've made an effort.

Anyway, on to this episode of the OC. What can I say. Hilarious. Sandy punching Ryan's dad. Seth & Summer's "wedding troubles", Seth with pancakes, Summer learning the alphabet, Summer's "lessons" from Julie, Taylor offering Frank 20 different types of desert, Kailtin and her oral. The list goes on. I found it funny. I don't like Ryan's dad though and I thought it was abit to cliched that he made up his cancer. And then the kiss with Julie was abit weird. But Taylor and Katilin are fantastic assets to this show. Taylor and Ryan make an adorable couple, even if I wasn't too sure about them at first. Summer & Seth ... they are always Summer and Seth. And I can't help to love them more and more each episode. Kaitlin and Luke's brothers and Chris Brown's character all make for interesting high school kids. How sweet was the end of tonights episode, when they were watching the Meerkats?

And even though it's getting closer to finish, if the finale was as good as tonight's episode, well I'll be content. :)

EDIT: Firstly I apologise for the huge long rant at the beginning of this post. I've had abit of a stressful day and this just got me even madder. And I also apologise for some of the "caps" I've used throughout this post. I just feel that they convey my emotions properly. And I thank, anyone who took the time to read that massive rant. :)
