I may be misremembering but weren't Theo & Ryder in the Surf Club along with Chloe so Mia didn't go seeking them out?

You're misremembering. Theo and Ryder weren't there when Chloe showed Mia the video, the only other person there was Bella. Mia went storming all the way to the Diner to yell at them.

And more of Mia acting like a brat, frankly, today, although, much like Chloe, Dean and Ziggy didn't seem to understand the meaning of the word "No." (Not sure why Mia's the only one to have a say though, since Tane seemed happy to accept the offer.) It takes a chat from Ghost Ari to get her to act like a human being towards people. Any chance of her apologising to Ryder and Theo as well? I didn't realise that Nikau wasn't getting paid for his lifeguard work, not a lot of money coming into the house then! I did like Tane and Felicity's reunion.

So, Alf off then. Roo seemed to want to sound off to John but not to have him poke holes in her point of view. I did like his utter lack of shame at eavesdropping.

Ari was a  proud guy so Mia could have seen Dean & Ziggy's gesture as charity which it so wasn't.   Mia herself hasn't been one for accepting handouts. I did like the resolution, it's not a long term thing just until the business is up and running on full throttle again.  It's a community thing, Ari would have done what he could have had  someone else been in that position - folk did the same for Dean when he couldn't work.

I thought it was mentioned in passing Nik was just a volunteer lifeguard.?  He could lend a hand at the bait shop now Alf has taken himself off again, it wouldn't be a lot but better than nothing.   I liked how Nik was checking up on Tane and not entirely believing his "I'm fine" lie.  Honestly who do people use that line, not just guys trying to be macho but women too.

At least Ari was able to go home a lot quicker than Mikaere was.   Another Maori tradition we found out about was the cleansing of the house.   I don't think Mia not going to the funeral was down to her leaving when Ari was in prison, he'd broken off all contact and she felt at the time it was better for her and Chloe to  make a clean break.  She was his widow and Chloe his step daughter.

Alf's episode count this week:Four. John and Roo were also in four technically but weren't credited on Monday and Tuesday respectively when they appeared in Ryder's video. Ari managed one, despite being dead. And, unusually, no credited guest actors all week!

She's been threatening it for a while but Chloe finally seems to have gone full-on Single White Female with Bella. It really is ironic that her time on the show started with her constantly hanging around Bella and Nikau with Bella wanting rid of her: It's like they've come full circle, only now Bella feels too sorry for her to tell her to go away. To be honest, this is actually an improvement for me on the show trying to make us feel sorry for her!

While I find Felicity panicking over Tane wanting commitment rather odd, I did enjoy her rocking up at the beach house and offloading on Irene in the absence of anyone she actually knows. I get what John was saying to Roo, but he was skimming over the fact that most children would want their parents to fight to stay with them.

Considering Chloe has always come across as an independent young woman, she'd been travelling around the world on her own hadn't she, her sudden dependence on Bella is a switch.   Nik is resenting it already and he's a  relative -  step cousin?  I think when she first pitched up she hung around them just to annoy them.   I'm guessing it's because she doesn't want to burden her mum, she does seem to be avoiding her, and Bella, similar experiences aside, is the only one around her own age she could confide in.    To be fair she did try and give her shift a go.  Mia's made the decision to go back to the gym following Tane's lead.

Irene wasn't Flick's first port of call for advice about Tane's thinking about his future and her part in it, but in a way it worked out better imo as Irene could give a totally unbiased opinion, Cash is her brother, Jasmine his girlfriend so their thinking would be coloured by that.   It is quite a sea change for him, when we first saw him he was the carefree one, no ties, answered to no-one, the love 'em and leave 'em type.  It was Ari who was the more serious.   Flick does need to have a talk with Tane as it could affect their future if he is seeing different to her. Not just Cash who appears to have commitment issues.

Everyone has their  opinion on that subject and John has his.

Chloe's manipulative streak is definitely coming to the fore here. Unfortunately, it depends on everyone being stupid. Notably Tane, who seems to believe everything that the last person he spoke to told him. He doesn't even point out the reason Chloe wasn't invited to Salt: She was supposed to be working! Bella seems to be sending out some pretty mixed messages to everyone as well. So...is it okay for Chloe to keep a How I Killed My Dad journal now the case is officially closed?

Felicity was amusing, if inconsiderate again, as she downloads on Irene a second time before dragging Cash off for a chat. Actually, Cash handled it pretty well. Not sure why Irene just barged into Cash and Jasmine's room... But of course Felicity has to have a serious chat with Tane, and he probably wasn't in the mood to hear it.

I don't know if Chloe intends to be manipulative - she just wants  Bella - to be her friend to the exclusion to everybody else.  She is casting her view on others, making out Nik was wearing Ari's t-shirt which he wasn't.  She obviously wasn't paying attention to what she was saying and she didn't think others would be picking up on what she said.   Methinks she'll be putting down her own twisted thoughts on what Bella, Nik, and Tane are saying.  I'm guessing Mia is off on her three day break as she hasn't been mentioned.

That was really gate crashing Bella & Nik's evening though I guess she didn't have much of a choice as Tane & Felicity's discussion was pretty full on so didn't need a third party.  Did Chloe drive there or get a cab?

Felicity was way out there - overthinking what Tane could be saying - nice she managed to speak to Cash about their shared history which could have a big influence on her decision.   It seemed she had thought it through, showed how grown up she has become  recently and it wasn't  a knee jerk reaction and listened to his feelings wanting a possible family before giving her opinion even if it wasn't what he wanted to hear.  She didn't mislead him and give him false hope.

At least Cash & Jasmine got their chat, they seem to be more positive about their feelings and how it could go in the future.  I found that odd with Irene popping in on Ja & Cash!

Chloe's diary sounds quite calculated. Given the way she was packing a bag when Tane came in, I think she intended to gatecrash Bella and Nikau whatever happened. While Nikau's first instincts were probably correct, backing off is the smartest thing he can do, because being confrontational with Chloe (and even trying to help her) is just making himself look bad. I'm surprised there was no follow-up on Tane's conversation with Felicity aside from him being a bit withdrawn.

John continues to act as Theo's confidante, although it look like he'll be without him for a bit.Good to hear about Jett. From the awkward way Justin looked when Theo was saying he wanted to tell Leah about the arrest himself, I'm guessing he's already told her. Good to get a reminder that John owns the garage building: I keep forgetting!

Well that was a  shock Maz just randomly appearing at the Stewart's!  She's obviously  been brought up to date on Ari got the updates on Brodie, and Raffy I thought she'd seen Jett too on her travels.  She seems to have got her act together and saw Irene about getting  her shifts back.   Sad news from Alf about Martha and he didn't take kindly that Roo was still hoping she'd be able to change Martha's mind so left her in the bay. She can drive up there herself can't she?  But of course it could be too late for the transplant.

I can completely understand why Theo is angry with  both Justin and Leah lying to him and going to his dad behind his back he got to trust them.  Just how long is she meant to be staying there?  Of course she is only going to get Dimitri's 'version' and unless Theo's mum confides in Leah on the quiet she won't hear the other side.  I thought Ziggy and Theo had got each other but that seems to have changed they way they were sniping at each other.   Justin is the boss in case she is forgetting that, mind it does appear they only both turn up when they feel like it - so does it warrant a new apprentice? Lot of expense putting  Theo through TAFE.   Shame John isn't going to be around he is the only person Theo can confide in and trust.

Are we supposed to assume now that Mia has reappeared Chloe is staying home?  She is not coping as well as she thinks she is, naturally of course the usual "I'm fine" lie comes out. Flick and Tane seem to have got over her not wanting a big part of his life and she did help with looking for Mia when she went missing. She did do her job by stopping Mia drinking and professionally too.

After seeming on an even keel for the last few episodes, Mia’s back in a downward spiral. I’m glad Tane had the sense to realise she was sleepwalking when he found her, which people don’t always. Also glad that he and Felicity talked things over and he concluded that he’s happy enough to just be with her for now.

Marilyn returns, and I haven’t missed her at all, but nice to get a bit of an update on Raffy: I imagine she’s loving being an auntie again. It’s rather amusing to imagine her and John tagging each other in on visiting Jett. (Some very weird timescale problems: John said he was leaving "tomorrow" near the end of Tuesday's episode, it was still "tomorrow" at the start of today's episode even though it was the next day...and then he left that day anyway!) And Alf also makes a flying visit. After admitting Roo was right about the surgery a few weeks back, he’s slipped back into blind loyalty mode. I guess he doesn’t want to spend Martha’s last few weeks arguing with her but he’s taking the coward’s way out.

I’d have hoped that Theo would have realised Justin and Leah were in his corner by now but maybe he’s not used to it. He didn’t do his cause many favours by being short with Ziggy. Of course, Ziggy was being equally ridiculous and slightly hypocritical: It’s not like Justin advertised before making her his apprentice, and whether she was actually dating Brody at that moment or not, that connection was the only reason she got the job.

Mackenzie in a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde mode as she tries to hide the truth of her situation from Logan. (Logan took a plate out of the microwave with his bare hand immediately after it finished: Is that how it works?) Dean actually paying for his food and drink was about time, but I suspect his bar bill is just a drop in the ocean. Some nice interplay with Ryder (“I value my life”).

I think Ziggy has got well over Brodie and Simone and their baby so no need for Marilyn to feel embarrassed for mentioning it.  Irene is relieved to see her, she was one of the most reliable staff members.   I spotted that time lapse for John actually leaving. How on earth are the Surf Club management going to manage without John & Alf!?

Would Logan be able to give Roo the private info about Martha, wouldn't that be breaking doctor/patient confidentially? As I mentioned Martha's  condition may not be suitable now for a transplant as it would be too risky.   I'm assuming Ryder has been kept appraised.

Has Theo actually talked - by phone - to Leah, Justin must have told her he knows she's seeing his dad.  Where did Ziggy get all feminist because of Justin putting forward Theo as an apprentice and not proposing a woman/girl?   I suppose she had to prove herself back then.

Doctors are meant to be tough you know, especially Logan. ?

How come Salt is not liable for insurance pay out - didn't it start in the Surf Club are they getting pay out?  Couldn't Mac appeal - I thought she had public liability which was mentioned a while back which covered her staff and public that were there?  I can see toxic waste is not an average insurance claim but is it being the insurance company not wanting to pay out. Why did Dean think Logan was loaded so he could help Mac out moneywise?

Not only Dean, but Ziggy, Bella, Nik playing the brother/mates rates - it may not be a lot but he has done it a lot.
