Alf hasn’t got much of a marriage if he only sees Martha for a week out of six months

Where do you get that idea, he said he'll be staying a week with Martha then the rest of the month at the bay.

I am liking this new Rose, the one who hasn't got her knickers in a knot about what didn't happen with Cash and seems she's got her head around it.    She's got good instincts, she did track down PK after all.  First thing would have been to check out his social media history and she found he didn't have any - not everyone has of course - but in his line of work as a travelling workman, you think he would have.  Maz at the time was desperate to get someone in and it was an ad Irene found.  No crime Tex being paid cash in hand, but now of course there is no paper trail for him.   No address for him, only his mobile which he isn't answering.

No surprise Xander was ultra stroppy by the time  he arrived at Irene's.  Not only Rose nagging him again, he had Cash on his back too, it must to his paranoid state have looked like an ambush.   Now someone else knows about the night Cash spent in Rose's car - nothing happened though!!! ? Natch Irene asked the question did Jasmine know - NO - he didn't have time to tell her before she left and it isn't something you tell someone over the phone. Irene won't say anything, but when Jas comes back she will expect him to tell her.

Seems things are happening or rather not going by what we saw in the trailer. ?

That was quite sad Xander finally admitting he did have a problem.  Of course he said he loves his job which is it seems is the BIG problem, he cares too much.

I liked Nik & Bella, she lightened his mood and made him see he was worth people bothering about him.

Guessing no-one knows yet about Chloe having vanished into thin air?

Yep didn't think Leah would be too chuffed at having Lyrik camping out at her and Justin's as she said they are eating them out of house and home. ?

Quite a big difference!

Hello, folks. It's been a while! Having commented in here quite regularly once upon a time, I sadly ended up drifting away - not because I stopped watching but because I was doing it in big binges rather than daily (or even weekly), and so I wasn't really keeping up with the pace of conversation. But since Neighbours has finished I've fallen into more of a daily routine with Home and Away, so thought I'd pop back on and see what was going down. Good to see lots of the familiar names still posting!

Even since I was last frequently in these parts (maybe three years?) it feels like the show has changed a lot, and I'd be lying if I said I was entirely enthralled with the character mix at the moment, or the storylines. I suspect that's not all of the show's own making - with various characters disappearing in weird and abrupt ways over recent months (Ari and Logan in particular) and now, it seems, Chloe and Martha going the same way. I'm a bit concerned especially now with the influx of random musos (though, to be clear, I want to give all the individual characters a chance) that the overall demographic is becoming quite samey, and with so many not-hugely-interesting 20-somethings moping around acting like teenagers, one wonders why actual teen characters, for whom moping around like teenagers is actually justified, have now vanished completely from Summer Bay. And I'm missing some of the livelier figures who've departed in recent times like Tori, Bella, Willow and Ryder.

But, there are still things to enjoy and I'm determined to stick with it. Leah and Justin's new unit with Theo is working well - I think keeping Justin on beyond the usual length of tenure has been a great decision, he's a character who's really come into his own - and of course it's always worth tuning in for Alf, Roo, John, Maz and Irene, even if they still aren't doing a great deal.

Anyway... This week. People worrying about what continuously-absent Jasmine will think because Cash and Rose slept in a car together fully clothed about a month ago continues to play too big a role in the Delaneys' storylines. I think Xander's 'paramedic PTSD' is more interesting, although were the tattoos a step too far in credibility terms? (At least they weren't River Boy tats, I suppose!)

I'm agnostic on Lyrik so far but the two female characters in particular seem like ones that I could warm to, and no doubt having Theo on board will help their cause. Looks like we might be about to get a new set as well, if Eden's interest in the house next to John's is anything to go by. Have we ever heard of his hippie neighbours before? At first I thought he was talking about the band themselves and that it was the Parata house that was up for lease, which confused me hugely.

Too much of Alf and Roo's stuff at the moment is incessant moving-the-chesspieces-talk about whether, when and how often he'll go back and forth to Merimbula - do we know, has Belinda Giblin left the show permanently? If she has, this 'Martha will never come back to Summer Bay' seems very odd and abrupt, and it feels like it would have been a better write-out (to say nothing of more dramatically satisfying) to kill her off prior to or during the transplant - but maybe they still want an excuse for Ray Meagher to disappear every few weeks?

Dean and Ziggy, meanwhile, who I've always been quite fond of, seem to have hit somewhat of a storyline brick wall of late, and tend to be reduced to meddling in other characters' affairs and having pointless minor disagreements between themselves. I don't know if that means they're on their way out (just speculation, I haven't read that that's the case). The latest one is 'Mackenzie has been single for five seconds so we must intervene,' though I'm sure it's unnecessary as no doubt she'll be hooking up with Beardy Band Guy before too long (also speculation, based on him being the only eligible singleton). I am liking Ziggy's storyline with Theo's apprenticeship though.

It was abit silly for Bella and Nik to break the bikers won’t be around forever haha

Why didn’t Tane just tell Rose who Tex was Instead of having her guess make things easier for everyone

Alf hasn’t got much of a marriage if he only sees Martha for a week out of six months

I'm guessing possibly because he would incriminate himself too, he's done some shady stuff in the past but I don't think he's ever been pinned for it i.e. the drugs etc. but him admitting something might open a can of worms so's-to-speak.

Alf's episode count this week:Two. Felicity was in four again.(She was only in the opening scene on Thursday, as was Tane, but if the show's still moving scenes between episodes, they're doing a better job of making sure the credits are right.)Bella was credited as a regular for her solitary appearance.

So, yes, looks like Lyrik may end their couch surfing and move in next door to John.Next door to John is, of course, where the Braxtons used to live, and before them the Holdens, Hunters, Sally and Flynn, right back to James Fraser and maybe beyond.I did enjoy John's scenes, and his and Marilyn's inevitable difference of opinion over their previous neighbours.I'm surprised to see how much interaction Eden and Cash are having as well.

I continue to be glad that we've moved past Cash and Rose being snippy around each other into the two of them and Xander as this rather makeshift extended family unit.Cash and Rose did a better job here tag-teaming to get Xander to open up.Cash proposing to Jasmine...hmm, hard to tell whether it's a good idea or not.

I can see where Ziggy's coming from, but staying away from the gig is a bit sulky and Dean obviously isn't having any of it.

(Incidentally, this was the episode that we got a sneak peak at the subtitles for on Wednesday.I followed the transcript surprisingly well, although I think I thought Eden was Felicity in at least one scene and I wasn't quite sure where the episode ended and the promo began.)

Oh, and welcome back, atrus, I remember always finding your comments insightful! And...yes, I'm still here.

The band was rehearsing but Eden spends the episode walking around the bay that leaves only Remi and Kirby and Theo I just found that amusing Eden should ask for a bigger role if they can manage without her

Has Theo even started his work with Moany Ziggy yet I might understand if he is was halfway through

First off - we saw Cash in the trailer at the end of  Thursday's episode asking Felicity why Jasmine hadn't returned and wondering if someone had told her about his night with Rose but no mention of it on Fridays.?

I've never heard mention of the hippie neighbours of John's either and how are Lyrik going to be able to  afford the rent.  Seems, currently, they are back at the Parata's. Bad enough that Lyrik were living over the road, but now they are moving next door to him. ?

Nice scenes with Cash and Xander with Cash treating Xander as a prospective family member.  Nice he's asked Xander to be his Best Man. I'm glad Xander acknowledged he needed help with his problem and luckily Rose didn't push him, he's got to do it when he's ready.  OK, he has only just started at this new job but not as if he's only recently joined being a paramedic.  The emergency services are a lot more understanding than they used to be about their staff having trouble getting their heads around what they may see in their jobs.

Theo has only just started his apprenticeship with Ziggy, although he did get a kick start with Jason and has passed one test.

Ziggy was a tad sniffy about Theo, did ? at Dean 'ordering' her to go with him.   Theo, though, seems to be missing  going by what the band were saying.

Roo was having a whinge about having nothing to do as Alf has taken over, what has happened to her teaching job?  I've not joined the fashion police but what was Maz wearing - it looked like a dressing gown.
