Didn't Remi have a phone then?

It was explained in the dialogue that he'd also left his phone in Ziggy's car.

^Yes, in the space of two or three lines of easily missed dialogue we were told that not only had both Ziggy and Remi left their phones in the car but Ziggy had left the keys there as well! It didn't occur to me that Lyrik would have to cancel most of their gigs with the money gone. It does seem another step towards them all getting more conventional jobs, although Remi's contribution (busking!) is both very him and surprisingly successful.

John comes in for a lot of flack but it did seem like he was the one trying to give Nikau (and possibly Tane) the benefit of the doubt while Alf was calling for his head from off-screen and getting John to do the dirty work. Tane came up with a way to keep him in the job so looks like good news for now?

Sod's law that Felicity spends days by Cash's bedside and then they bring him round while she's away. And she's still left to break the bad news to him.Cash seemed quite irrational at times, especially his insistence that Rose couldn't possibly have gone away:Has anyone told him how long he was out for, because he was acting like it was only a day? Also, why didn't Felicity just call Rose, who said to call her if anything changed with Cash?

This Cal bloke did blind side them, unless he's got Ziggy's car out of the area he and whoever he was working with will have to hide it as it's hardly inconspicuous.

How were they getting around before, hiring vans?  I know it's not much but at least they do have the SALT gigs.  Remi probably felt guilty that he lost the money though it wasn't his fault which was why he did the busking.   Taken some pressure off Theo that he won't have to cram any rehearsals and travelling time along with him doing his assignments.

I was going to say John may act a buffoon at times, but he really stepped up to the plate with Nik and Tane falling on his sword helped a lot and got Nik his job back.   It did back up John's belief in backing Nik. Though it won't look good for Tane and could cost him the gym if the committee/Council want him out as it would not look good him renting the place from the Surf Club which is run by the committee/Council.   Tane looked torn as to whether he ought to tell John the truth but of course he really couldn't, one wrong word and it's all over.   Nik has come in for some flak as he's been moaning and groaning about all he's lost, but this time it wasn't his fault.  Tane said he shouldn't have got him into the whole mess, but Nik replied that it was Ari and Mia that got them into it which is true when you think about it.

Must have been a few days - week at most?  Wouldn't Dr. Cameron have told him how long he'd been out?   Rose couldn't tell him anything anyway, she wasn't at the scene so didn't see anything, all she and the others heard were the three gunshots.  TPTB will be investigating who may have shot whom first but until Cash is able to remember it's speculation.   Did Marty shoot first, then Cash shot Marty then he shot Cash again, but Marty died from the bullet that that hit him, we don't know where Marty got hit. The mind is a funny thing, it can shut down if something traumatic like that happens, it's it way of protecting you.  It would be a shock though, just because he carries a gun as part of his job doesn't mean he'd ever want to use it.

Not wanting to make light of it all, but it has blown Rose's thinking that working in a small town would be boring out of the water.

I think Felicity was panicking and not thinking clearly, we do see Rose tonight so Flick must have called her. Cash did ask about Jasmine forgetting they'd broken up?, but thinking about it, I don't know if she would have wanted to be there, after all she's been there, done that and got the T-shirt.

Alf's episode count this week:None, as he spends his monthly week in Merimbula.

Cash is one of those characters who's never quite gelled for me and at the moment he's being downright irritating. It's another case where I guess I should have more sympathy, given that he's been shot and having to deal with the fact he killed someone (however justifiably), but he just seems to have complete tunnel vision, treating everyone around him like dirt and coming out with elaborate conspiracy theories about how they're all hiding something from him.Even Xander seemed to quickly reverse his guilt trip on Rose and decide that maybe staying away from him is the best thing for her.

Justin obviously knew Leah wouldn't approve of his plan or he wouldn't have been vague to the point of misleading, so his innocent act doesn't wash.Dragging Theo all the way to Salt just to check that the band definitely needed a van was pretty bizarre: Couldn't he have just texted?

Well, I had made a resolution to get back into daily viewing, but the show was in such a dull place a fortnight or so ago that it proved a struggle.

Back up to speed now though, and at least there's been some action, albeit accompanied by what seems like an awful lot of melodramatic wailing and gnashing of teeth. I assume (speculation only) that the reason minor character Marty got shot dead rather than Tex, who's been the primary face of this bikie gang for weeks, is that he's going to get out of jail somehow and return to terrorise them all again. Well, I guess I wouldn't mind; at least he's got some charisma which is more than can be said for most of the folks he's running up against.

Some of the newbies are starting to bed in nicely, though. I do like Rose, largely because of some very competent acting, despite not having had the best start storyline-wise. Likewise, the band is becoming more tolerable now they've been allowed to get a house and have scenes that aren't entirely preoccupied with them being a band. Some of the Theo/Kirby stuff has been a bit cringe - there were some terribly overwrought scenes in the lead-up to their kiss - but Eden in particular is proving to be a charismatic and likeable presence, and Remi's perhaps not as bad as I feared.

Amen to this; he just seems to be rather of a nonentity as far as I can see, though not wishing to single him out as he's far from the only one on the current character roster who fits that description. In fairness he has suffered somewhat from Jasmine's rather abrupt departure, but he wasn't amazing even before that. Say what you like about Colby who proved to be a bad apple in lots of respects, but he was about five times more interesting to watch. As far as Cash is concerned I much preferred Dean's mate from Mangrove River, Constable Devlin, who instantly lit up the screen with her brief guest appearances the other week, so I'm hoping we get more of her. Ditch Cash and she'd make a great partner for Rose, although I'm not holding my breath.

Private Tutor Roo seems to be quite a slow-burn story, but I'm curious to see if it will lead anywhere or if it's just filler/a reason for her to be looking busy now that Martha's seemingly gone. I noticed a mumbled mention of the high school as among her possible target audiences, although there don't even seem to be any extras from the school on set anymore. Somebody on the show at some point in the last fortnight said that the Surf Club was now where the kids hang out as opposed to the Diner but I don't recall seeing any there either. It's been an element of the mix for many years now, but the "oldies standing around in the Diner gabbing about whatever drama is going on elsewhere that doesn't involve them" vibe is really starting to grate, as intergenerational character relationships become more and more tenuous. These cast members have been in it for decades for a reason, and it's time to put them centre-stage again or at least have the rotating younger cast be written in as relating to them in meaningful ways.

It feels like a Remi/Ziggy/Dean love triangle is being set up with all that daft stuff with the van and them getting locked in a shed. I sincerely hope they won't have Ziggy engage in an affair given the impact on her when Brody did that to her. Then again she and Dean have been desperately in need of a storyline so at least it meets that description. Wasn't a fan of Dean punching Remi in the face and nobody really calling him out for it - the show really needs to tone down the testosterone at the moment because in this day and age it's difficult to sympathise with casual assaults like that, yet H&A is still acting like it's acceptable 'boys will be boys' behaviour.

Speaking of which, Tane and Nikau are really trying my patience now too, with their incessant macho growling and grimacing. (Xander, who's clearly been introduced as a more sensitive male figure, ought to be a bit of an antidote to some of this tedious hyper-masculine stuff, but his storyline has very much been playing second-fiddle to all the crime/police drama.) Nikau wasn't nearly this miserable and whiny when he was first introduced, I'm sure. I hate to say it because there were some promising elements early on, but this family hasn't really worked out, and it's perhaps time the two remaining members went the way of the others.

A very functional debut for Dr Bree, despite her having been added to the main cast list. The writing has yet to imbue her with much of a personality, which doesn't fill me with confidence, but it's very early days, I guess.

As for episodes being pulled for the Queen's death and funeral, of course Channel 5 had to break off for coverage of that - but I'd say it's telling of their shifting priorities regarding soap that they didn't at least reschedule the episodes on the main channel at another time so people who don't exist entirely in cyberspace (and can't work out where on earth 5Star is) could still watch them. or even just bump back the running order so we were two episodes behind.

Cash has been quite a quiet character until now, he did bend some rules when he gave Leah & Jason their money back that Susie stole so we did see another side of him.   He hasn't really had that much to do until now apart from being first on scene when they found Susie and it was a big deal for him to get involved in, still not been answered how he was able just to walk into it, he'd only just come back from seeing Jasmine, burst into Rose and that other guy listening into Tane dealing with the bikies, then take it upon himself to leap into action.  Though that could be because of him being dumped by Jasmine and not knowing how to deal with it.

No good Cash expecting answers from Rose or any other cop at the scene, it was only him and Marty at the shooting, all the others heard were the three shots, he is the only one who can say what happened, even if Marty had survived, we wouldn't expect him to tell the truth.   Dr. Brie got it right, he's suffering from retrograde amnesia, it happens when he's been through what he has, as she said it's the brains way of letting you get over it.  He remembered everything that happened until he chased Marty, whose name he didn't even know, then blank.  Who knows how people would react to it, especially a cop who had shot and killed someone and no-one there to say what had happened.  Of course, he's behaving irrationally, it's a soap and people do.

It is a good idea of Justin's to buy the band a van, but couldn't he just buy one, he must have contacts, without the need for the subterfuge of having a logo saying they were being sponsored by Summer Bay Garage.  I knew as soon as he was being vague, he was up to something.  He is spending his and Leah's money without telling her what he really was doing.  He could have talked with her and put up a good argument for doing it. I'm guessing he wanted to get it up and running as soon as possible.  Also, as John is part owner, shouldn't he have his say?

It could backfire as he's done it as Theo is doing what he said he would, fit in his TAFE work along with the band, which he currently able to do as they aren't touring.  But what will happen when they can?  Did chuckle when Theo thought Justin was suggesting adding a tow bar on his car to pull another rubbish van. ?   Theo and Kirby nearly had a moment, their promise not to get involved is looking shaky.

I was wondering that about those souls who don't have the facility to catch up at a later date because of whatever reason.  Didn't Channel5 do something recently when an episode was dropped and they squeezed one in?

There was a brief period where the interaction between the cast was better, but we really are back to a real divide. John, Justin and Theo seem to be the links between the two halves of the bay.

Dean, Ziggy, Mac, Tane, Nikau and Lyrik rarely step foot in the Diner whereas aside from the odd scene at Salt, Irene, Leah and Marilyn rarely step foot in the Surf Club. That part isn’t necessarily new though as you’d rarely see Fisher & Ailsa in the Surf Club back in their era. These days it’s rare to see Alf there though as he seems to run the Surf Club, the Bait Shop and the Caravan Park from his table in the Diner.
