Alf's episode count this week:Four.

Marilyn was utterly contemptible in that last scene. Her friends are tied up, Alf's having heart troubles, and she still has to have the truth dragged out of her, while trying to spin it with her tired "I was young and vulnerable" excuse instead of admitting to an affair.Does anyone still think she was ever going to acknowledge Heather as her daughter voluntarily, if she didn't even want to do it to help her friends? She'd have just carried on making excuses and putting it off while making a token effort to "get to know" Heather on the quiet. And the worst thing is, Heather's done it all for nothing, because you just know that everyone in that room is going to fall over themselves to paint Marilyn as the victim and make excuses for her.And let's face it, they're not going to see Heather as the wronged party when she's just drugged them and tied them up.Maybe I'm as biased as Marilyn's friends, but I can forgive Heather what was probably one of the few moments of enjoyment in a largely miserable life, which is at least partly Marilyn's fault, not that she'll ever take responsibility for it.

Although the guest list was mostly Heather's idea, Marilyn probably had some input in it, so why didn't she invite John? Not that he'll complain when he learns just what sort of bullet he's dodged, of course.Well, Ziggy and Dean have finally gone public with the pregnancy, and I did enjoy Dean's half of the phone call with Jai.Again, they work better with the humour than the heartfelt stuff. Theo and Kirby seem to be ploughing ahead with stuff without consulting Remi and Eden again, which may not be the smartest idea.

I can only assume that as this was designed to be the UK final episode for 2022 that the UK audience prefer the old school Home and Away characters or the fan base are the long term viewers, it just seems really bizarre to me that if the story was designed because of that that they would basically destroy Marilyn in order to do it.

Before we get into the rights and wrongs of Marilyn's dithering about telling them about Heather being her daughter, two little points - they were invited to Crestview Function Centre for brunch but the poster in the entrance hall was headed Crestview Ladies Collage and they were invited to High Tea? Didn't any of them pick up on that? ?  Heather didn't seem surprised when Irene said she didn't drink and had a glass of orange ready for her.

If that was where Heather was shipped off to, hardly a long-term boarding school then was it, more a place young girls are sent off to. Unless that was another place she was sent to?

Heather may not have been the one to set up all that CCTV so would have got someone in to do it and it wouldn't have been cheap.

OK yes Maz could have told Roo/Leah/Irene and Alf who Heather was at the start, then explained.  Marilyn isn't the femme fatale Heather seems to be thinking she was when she got involved with her dad.  We still don't know what Heather's step mum told Heather about what happened, she would be angry/bitter and resentful about having to bring up her husband's child by another woman.  Hard enough if they are from a previous relationship and it works both ways not all men could bring up another man's child. Sadly it is the child that gets punished when they are the innocent party.

Just my theory and I'm going by the Marilyn we knew back then.  She took this job as housekeeper to Jim & ? Frazer.  Maz may have asked if they had any children and Mrs. Frazer said they weren't able to, Maz, despite Red's opposition to the thought, would have been sympathetic, later talking to Jim about it and yes I know we don't know how it went down, he may have played the 'poor me' card as I said before Marilyn is no femme fatale chasing any man she claps eyes on, she gave him a shoulder to cry on and you can guess the rest.  Heather only got her stepmothers side of what happened.

We did get some insight of why Heather why she did what she did and what she is doing, Marilyn has 'family', but she didn't and doesn't so must gave had a lonely childhood, but didn't Marilyn before we knew her?   Well I may be in the minority but I believed Marilyn when she said she wanted to get to know Heather before she introduced her to the others.

T'was odd John wasn't on Marilyn's list, could Heather have got hold of Maz's list, it was Heather who told Maz they'd all replied and still wouldn't give her phone back.

John was the only one concerned that the Diner was like the Marie Celeste and no Alf about, Justin seemed unconcerned even when all he got was Leah's voce mails.

Anyways it seems a lot does happen - the local cops from where she lives, it seems, goes to Heather's home address and finds the body of a middle-aged woman, half of Yabby Creek police turn up at Crestview, Marilyn is being held by Heather on the edge of a roof, someone gets rushed into hospital. Not spoilers - it was in the trailer.

Thankfully we got some respite from the dramatics - Ziggy and Dean got their 12 week - or as it turned out 18 week scan - some clever talking by Dean there.?  Pity there was only John and Justin to tell for now, Mac will be relieved she can now reveal all.  John being speechless didn't last long and I'd grab the offer of a drink from him before he has the chance to think about it.   Didn't think John had much experience of being around babies.  Lovely that Dean told Jai the big news and how he must have asked what if he's a big brother to a girl! Ziggy and Dean felt the bay kick and of course Ziggy won't be showing yet.

Then there was Theo and Kirby having the idea of a video to promote their song and doing it at the lighthouse.  They'll rope in Remi and Eden when they make an appearance once they make up.

Ok, when did Home & Away turn into a plot from Scooby Doo?! It is getting a bit silly to say the least, Marilyn's friends lured to a deserted mansion for a meal the same day as the invite. Bonkers.

They got the invite the day before.

It did occur to me that was an odd place to put the cliffhanger. Instead of focusing on the danger to the characters, the big dramatic final beat is...Marilyn announcing something we already knew to people who probably won't care.

Rooby Roo! (Couldn't resist?)

Also it's kind of timely because ITV3 are up to 2002 in Classic Emmerdale repeats where Louise (Emily's slightly less great character) is being stalked!

Yes I remember her being in Emmerdale - Chas called her Skippy!?  I remember how that ends too.??

Do we know if and when the Aussie Christmas break will be and how long for?

I believe it is now confirmed that the show will be ending in Australia on Monday with a triple episode, which means once again there'll be nine weeks of the 2022 season to go when the show returns in the UK next year. No word on when it will return in Australia as yet.
