We're back and...it was just as bad as I feared. The episode makes Heather as "evil" as possible, having her continue to refuse to get help for Alf. None of the Summer Bay Cabal care about her revelations or what's happened to her and inevitably side with Marilyn and dismiss Heather as an evil crazy person. (Irene was particularly annoyingly self-righteous, with Leah not far behind.) Marilyn continues shouting lies like "I left you with two loving parents in a beautiful home!" and "I had no choice!" in a way that suggests we're meant to agree that she's somehow the victim in all this. About the only good things on offer were Cash and Rose being two of the more competent local police officers we've had in a while and Cash dragging himself out of his funk. Oh, and Justin demonstrating he's not an idiot.

So, Heather's stepmother is dead.Rose's claim that her being stuffed into a freezer means it wasn't natural causes seems a bit premature (it doesn't seem impossible that she died of natural causes and Heather, being on the edge like she is, decided to cover it up instead of dealing with it), but they're probably not going to look for any excuse to show Heather in an unsympathetic light. The timescale at the end was ridiculous: Just how long were Cash and Heather facing off on that balcony? Apparently, long enough for half the local police and ambulance service to drive out to this supposedly remote spot, yet Irene and Leah are calmly stood outside, apparently not bothered that Marilyn's still missing. (Maybe they actually do blame her!) I was ready to rant about Heather apparently plummeting to her doom, but then the promo shows her alive so...jury's out.

Ziggy seemed to jump quickly from thinking it was too soon to be buying a pram to twigging that, oh yeah, they're actually well past 12 weeks, maybe they do need to think about this stuff.

I believed before the break that at worst for Marilyn it would have been momentary disdain when her friends found out about Heather but having watched today's episode, it's clear that what Heather's done is having the opposite effect and they all simply feel more sympathetic towards Marilyn.  I also found Irene really annoying and wish Heather had gagged her.

As much as I like Heather, to quote what she said "actions have consequences" and whilst I accept Marilyn has ruined Heather's life nobody's forced Heather to do all those things.  She was acting on free will.  It is disappointing though that Heather's step mum is dead.  I'm hoping the step mother died of natural causes and Heather simply covered it up.  Hopefully a decent solicitor will argue that she's off her rocker as Irene said and she will go to the mental ward rather than jail.

As much as I dislike Marilyn, I am glad Heather's not dead not just because I like her but also because I don't actually think Marilyn deserves that.  It would be very difficult to come back from something like that and I do think she's suffered enough.  And let's face it, Marilyn is most certainly aware now how her abandoning Heather has affected her daughter given the lengths Heather has gone to show this.

Hi folks - how was your Christmas & New Year?

Divided opinion on Maz again. Heather wasn't showing the group her better side by refusing to let them get help for Alf.  They did pretend to turn on Marilyn to placate her but it didn't work.  OK agreed Marilyn maybe should not have left Heather with the Frazer's but they obviously convinced her they would love and care for her, they had money - but of course that is not a requirement - so were well able to look after her.  Marilyn had just given birth her emotions would have been all over the place so not able to make the most sensible judgement. Marilyn would have had no idea they would have turned like that and Heather looking exactly like |Marilyn would not have helped.

I guess if you are told often enough by the people who were supposed to be 'loving' parents that you were not wanted and they hated you it takes it's toll. But if they felt that way why, after Marilyn left, didn't they put her out for adoption?

Leah and Irene weren't exactly calmly standing there, they would have been in shock.  Marilyn didn't vanish' for long she was at the hospital.  I guess she went with Cash and or Rose back to the bay to give her statement.  It did seem an eternity before the whole of NSW cops and ambulance service rocked up, but that happens in the bay one moment it's broad daylight then it's night time!

It's not been proved that Mrs. Frazer met a sticky end yet, but the neighbour said the place had been empty for a long time, Heather used to visit but hadn't seen her for months and the local cops said it looked like it had been abandoned. If it was a natural death why put her in the freezer and how long had she been there? I can't remember if it was said before but was said by Cash/Rose Tim had died of natural causes a couple of years ago.

Frowned on at the time but just as well Leah did tell Justin about who Heather was which meant Cash & Rose could fit the pieces they had together, the bit he could remember about a place on a hill where the brunch was pinged in Rose's brain - Crestview!  Good job he was persistent, plus the fact the bait shop hadn't been opened Leah, Marilyn, Leah and Irene hadn't turned up at the Diner and no-one could reach anyone. It looked li it has hit Nik hard.

A bit of lightheartedness with Ziggy and Dean and Karen endlessly texting him with what she is thinking of buying for the babe, are they going to have a pram/buggy with a removable surfboard on it? Nik was pleased for them, but he had to ask the question "Are you sure you should be surfing?" to Zig. ? A consideration later when she's got more of  a bump which would make it tricky to lie on the board?‍♀️? but not now. Wouldn't make sense to buy the essentials, nappies, baby grows, all that Johnson's baby stuff - oils, talc - do they still use that(?) etc, etc.  How do we think Dean would manage in the delivery room, it's not for all men. Of course they don't know about the latest drama yet do they?

I could understand Nik asking the question, my friend is a midwife and apparently surfing is considered a contact sport i.e. either best avoided at worst or seek medical clearance beforehand. Just a bit of trivia there.

Johnsons talc is a no-no these days, hehe both as it's dangerous and I think it's been discontinued  due to the J&J court case.?

I'm cherry picking eps at the minute.  That clout Theo St gave Alexi is making things feel a bit familiar.

Good thing, Don declined Vinnie's offer of a drink (Don is a lightweight as seen in 1990 and 1995)

Colleen putting a hole in the Ozone with that Hairspray!

Sal actually looks kinda nice with rollers in for some reason.? She was good counsel to Sal.

Ugh, Holly. I remember her *too well* NEVER got over her not washing her hands!?

Stella showing when the cutthroat Razor was drawn priceless.

Chris stirring. Been 14yrs since he bowled into town (Leah's 30th, where she, another lightweight, spewed on Roman?)

One of the better weddings with unique take. Incidentally, another wedding where another bloke wearing a kilt took place a month earlier in another show set across the state line....

It kind of feels like Cash has had a personality transplant, given that he offered for Irene and Leah to delay giving their statements and didn't charge Nikau for covering for Heather.  I'm assuming Heather falling and watching Marilyn afterwards had something to do with that.  I'm glad he and Rose seem to be on the mend and I did actually enjoy their scenes.

I started off being impressed with Marilyn.  She seemed to take some level of responsibility for what happened and was very concerned about Heather but I ended up being pretty disgusted with her when she walked out again and can't believe I actually defended her.  Despite what I said yesterday, it felt like she was only concerned because she didn't want to have to deal with the guilt of Heather dying.  Once it was confirmed Heather was OK (How Heather didn't have serious injuries is beyond me, kind of like Jade all those years ago) she completely washed her hands of Heather.  I was at least expecting Marilyn to maintain some sort of contact.  I think Marilyn walked away not because she felt she couldn't help Heather but because she didn't want to help her and used the it's all my fault, I'm an awful person, you're better off without me excuse to disown her.  She should recognise that Heather is very unwell and needs support.  But she cares more about her friends than her own flesh and blood and couldn't forgive Heather hurting them.  I wondered after yesterday if this whole thing would deeply affect Marilyn but I suspect it will bother her for a couple of weeks and then it will be business as usual and back to bubbly Marilyn - I guess like when she abandoned her in the first place.  Looks very much like Heather was right about Marilyn but she has got one thing completely wrong - She's basically boosted Marilyn's popularity, probably tenfold.

I was also disappointed Nikau didn't even want to see Heather and at least talk to her but only came to the hospital to apologise to Marilyn.  No further mention of Heather's step mum but given in the description for the episode yesterday on My5 it said Rose and Cash track down a suspected murderer, she's probably going to be charged for that.  I do wonder if Marilyn actually knows about it, not that it really matters.

It's a shame it has to end this way.  Haven't been invested in a character like this for quite a while.

I do feel the writers should have done this storyline differently though and not made Heather so unhinged and left it open at least.

I'm assuming Bree's doing overtime which is going to land her in trouble with her husband.

I’m on Heathers side here I didn’t really feel sorry for Marilyn But I do wonder what Heathers endgame plan was running up to the roof and instead of her and Marilyn jumping planned to edge their way to that small window that was a fair distrance away Wbile wearing heels as well have the never watched gladiators it’s hard enough to balance on narrow edges while being thrown around Roo kind of is laughable she’s seem to have forgotten how she treated Marilyn But in end Marilyn did abandon Heather again and we probably won’t see her again now

I can see why Nikau is or should I say be put out forget the Marilyn stuff his lost a sexy girlfriend there haha

I don’t why but in the hospital scenes those extras nurses who had lines sounded like robots or miles away

Not a spoiler but it feels to me that we have missed a big chunk of Jacob and Bree story

So, yeah, people are actually apologising to Marilyn, even though they were absolutely right about her lying to them, they just got the wrong lie. Roo even became the latest person to parrot her "You had no choice" justification. Alf says they'd have been on her side if she'd told them the truth: That was true 27 years ago as well.Even Nikau, the only person willing to call Marilyn out on her treatment of Heather, has done a complete 180 and apologised to her.(And yes, as usual, Cash completely ignored him confessing to giving a false alibi.Well, he ignored Mia hiding a body, after all.Presumably nothing will come of Marilyn's false confession either.)At least it's given Marilyn a much-deserved kick as she's forced to face up to the consequences of abandoning Heather without a backward glance all those years ago.She might start believing her own hype sooner or later, but at least it's there now.Of course, her response is to walk out on Heather as soon as things get difficult a second time.I'm sure there was some part of her that had a childish fantasy of her daughter turning up, throwing her arms around her and calling her Mummy, but she never seemed too keen on the reality of her daughter turning up, it was always a bit too hard to acknowledge her. So I suspect there's also a part of her that's relieved she's got an excuse not to try and include Heather in her life.

I'm glad Heather survived, for her sake.I was expecting some follow-up on her mother's death, but it wasn't even mentioned: I'm not even sure if Marilyn and the others know she's dead. "Suspected murderer" doesn't mean anything we didn't already know: As it stands, Rose seems to have just assumed she's a murderer solely because someone hid the body, and could look pretty stupid if it turns out she had a heart attack or something.(I assume Heather's reason for stuffing the body in a freezer if it was natural causes would be the same as the reason if it was murder:To hide it, to avoid having to deal with it, to preserve it, maybe just because she didn't care.)I've been thinking about the show's ridiculous attempts to make us sympathise with Irene's son Mick and let him off the hook, and if Heather hasn't killed her mum, then I don't think she was a bad as him.(Keeping five people tied up for a few hours seems less serious than keeping one person prisoner for weeks and being a serial rapist.)So I would be quite happy if Heather gets a token few months in a mental hospital and then allowed to live her life. But I also don't want her to come back to Summer Bay and play happy families with Marilyn. Marilyn doesn't deserve that. Heather needs to move on and be free of it all at last.

Cash seemed in danger of slipping back to wooden when Rose tried to talk to him, but I guess that's just his normal expression because it does seem like he's finally ready to move on from his issues. I know he's been fooling around with Eden lately, but maybe the door isn't completely closed for them? I'm happy for them to be friends for now though.

I quite like that John went straight to Irene rather than Marilyn: Their friendship has been one of the better results of John's bachelor status. His advice to Dean was pretty generic, basically consisting of "Get over it", but at least he had another go the next day, and convincing him to talk to Ziggy is probably the best outcome.
