Well, Marilyn changing Roo's mind about dropping the tutoring was probably the biggest highlight of the episode. Not a huge amount to say about the rest; for those of us who were praying for a modest flurry of returnees to mark the big 35th, I suspect Bob of the Band probably wasn't on many of our hoped-for lists. Kirby was served with the dreaded 'look me in the eye' trope and actually managed to do it, but still wasn't believed - is that a first? I don't care about two of the three people in this fledgling love triangle and I'm perilously close to not caring about the third, so the sooner it resolves, the happier I'll be. I also don't care about Tane's wedding, so... roll on Friday!

It was: We saw her working there when Remi got hit over the head, although that's quite a while back so I don't blame people for not remembering!

Yes Remi hooked up with Stacey after that too. In which Eden said was impressed that he picked up while in hospital and Kirby said she was disgusted.

It's often observed that the show seems to be long done with fostering, and yet the hints of two interesting storylines on the horizon today that at least have some bearing on that theme. Felicity doesn't want her foster dad at the wedding and seems to be implying it's because it will remind her of her real dad - but is there more to it, given the hints that they didn't get on? Also, Marilyn wanting to work together with Roo with young homeless people - I wasn't sure whether she was saying she wanted them to keep going back and forth to Sydney together, or if she has in mind the idea of setting something up closer to home? Could the drop-in centre be making its triumphant return, perhaps?

I really enjoyed the scene between Nikau and Marilyn; it reminded me of the Paratas' early days when they seemed quite an interesting and promising family unit, and I'm glad that initial connection with Maz hasn't been forgotten, even if it's seldom been alluded to in recent times. There does feel like a sense of finality ever time Heather is mentioned, though. Still no detail on what happened with her stepmother, but we're told she won't be tried and has been sectioned. Evidently Maz is keeping close enough tabs via the lawyers, but it does feel surprising (even if just from a dramatic, rather than a character perspective) that she doesn't appear to be considering any kind of visit.

Ugh, a Bob-related cliffhanger means we're stuck with this saga into next week.

Alf's episode count this week:Three.

I'm kind of revising my opinion of Bob a bit. He is still smug and entitled, but his expression when he saw Theo and Kirby together did seem genuinely upset, so maybe he actually does want her back.Of course, if he does, he's going about it in an underhand way and I hope Theo doesn't get taken in by his mind games. It's a shame Felicity was convinced to let him stay the night as well. Why did he need to sleep on the sofa? They've got four bedrooms. (Tane, Nikau, Chloe and Mia all had their own rooms in the early part of the season.)

Good grief, that's at least the third episode in about a week where someone's said how great it is to have Marilyn back to her old self. And we've had just as many speeches from Nikau, and sometimes Tane, about how wonderful she was helping their family all those years ago (while glossing over the fact she did it by being completely insensitive towards John and wrecking their marriage). The show really does seem to be trying to batter us over the head with the message that Marilyn is a pure and radiant saint and we should all forget all that bad stuff she did because the other characters have. Even when we got that nice, nuanced scene with John (poor guy, he's clearly nowhere near being the top of her priorities), it's followed up by yet more cloying shilling from Nikau which seemed to go on forever. It doesn't help that it's masking all the good stuff. It was good to get another update on Heather, which is probably the best news we're going to get and frankly I'd like it left there so we can imagine her getting her life back together: I don't want to see her "cured" of her resentment towards Marilyn and all set to play happy families with her...and frankly, I'm not sure Marilyn really wants it either, except in the abstract.

Marilyn helping the homeless could be a good thing (annoyingly specific denial about it not being about her guilt aside) but Roo is the last person who should be helping her given that she a)couldn't get Marilyn out of there fast enough and b)seemed determined to scare off anyone who got in the way of her narrative. More a case of "I want to help the homeless, so long as they're nice and polite." I do think it's a shame that her experience with Heather means Roo is reluctant to be friendly with other students, but I guess she has to start somewhere!

John and Cash is an odd combination but somehow it works. I do appreciate the exploration of Cash and Felicity's past and I agree with atrus that it fits in well with the show's theme of a foster family being just as valid as a real one. It's telling that Felicity has never even mentioned his name to Tane.

At least Theo and Bob had a pointless game of pool as if you would have a game with your girlfriends ex

Some people can put their crap aside (depending on circumstances) but it's *evident* Bob's here to stir the S*** pot so it is kind of stretching it. Wish he'd leave again (and potentially take the rest of Lyrik). I just can't take to the character. He is just so off-putting!

Well spotted there then Red, was she a blink and miss her spot?

I could see how  Nik was trying to live up to the image he may have had in his mind as to how his dad or Ari would have passed muster as Best Man so I'm glad Tane reassured him.   I do like the sound of having a traditional celebration at the Parata's.  I wonder how many of the relatives we will see - Gemma -  by chance?

David, was that the name of the guy who had the stroke? Too late now but should  Xander have told Mac that news, she wasn't a relative, just happened to be there when he had it.  That was a nice moment when Nik spoke to Mac on the beach, as he said even professionals can freeze.  Did I hear right she is leaving it up to her staff whether they take the First Aid course, shouldn't that be obligatory?

Gary has come out of nowhere - I do remember Cash mentioning him and his wife - now deceased it seems -  when he first arrived but nothing since. He did say, can't remember who to Irene(?), that Felicity had trouble accepting him as she felt he was trying to take over the role as dad.  She was a lot younger then and hadn't come to terms with the fact their dad had taken his own life so he was probably thinking/hoping she'd got through it.  Does this mean, I may have missed the Newman family history somewhere, that they don't have any other relatives?  I'm with atrus  that could be something more about why Felicity doesn't want him there.

guess Marilyn got her update on Heather as she would have had to go to court to give evidence against her as would I suppose Roo, Alf and Irene, wouldn't they also have to be told? It won't be needed now of course, and I suppose we won't know the outcome of the body in the freezer and how it got there as it's nothing to do with  Marilyn and co.  Marilyn did some good by persuading Roo to take up her tutoring again, first session apparently went well.  I'm also not sure Roo should get involved in the volunteering for the homeless, she can and does want to take over, it was Marliyn's thing and she's now in the right head space.

Bob was underminding Theo with his talk of Kirby having a bit of a rep of playing about with other guys when he and her had split before but they'd always got back together.  He did get one thing right they were both rebounds, she'd just broken up with him and he'd just broken up with Chloe. He, as we heard, seen their vid and well it's taking off so definitely jealous of their success without him. How will they and Justin for that matter going to take the news he's back!  There is plenty of room at the Parata's but maybe don't want him to feel too comfortable so hence the sofa.

It is odd we hardly see all of them - Eden, Remi, Kirby and Theo in the same place at the same time unless they are playing a gig.

I knew Marilyn was going to be back to normal relatively quickly but I didn't think her criticising Heather to Roo would bother me this much.  Well if Marilyn wasn't OK, she most certainly is now after all the eulogising by the various Summer Bay characters.  Thankfully Heather isn't going jail but she's probably not getting out anytime in the foreseeable future.  Part of me wanted to know what she was going to be charged with but the other part feels it doesn't really make much difference at this point.  Part of me also does want Marilyn to consider the possibility of visiting her but I'm not sure that's in Heather's best interests.  I do hope Heather gets out some day, rebuilds her life, finds happiness and genuine love.

I'm really not happy about Bob returning.  I've found him very annoying even in these last couple of episodes and was glad when Felicity called him out although I wasn't happy when she invited him to stay at the Parata's.

Even though it was sad that the guy at Salt died, I liked the way Mackenzie has been about it since.
