For those of us of  a certain age we remember Peter Phelps from Sons & Daughters where his character was called - er - John Palmer!  Wonder if the current one will be meeting up with the old one. ? Anyways he seemed decent enough and even offered to go when Cash admitted he'd asked him to come without letting Felicity know.  Cash has told Gary the Felicity he knew has changed from the one he knew back then, she hadn't come to terms with what happened to their dad then, but has now, I think she may have thought he was trying to be a replacement, she was a lot younger whereas Cash  knew the truth.  We've seen a change in her ourselves. Cash wasn't expecting Flick to come home  when she did so a shock for both. He's briefly met Tane.    Tane is in the middle really he didn't know what went on when Felicity and Cash were fostered by Gary and his late wife and Flick hasn't opened up about why she is so against him.  It was a nice touch that Gary thought of Cash as his son and called him so.  Certainly sounded like they had had regular contact.

He's been introduced to Alf who going by what Cash said to him owns Summer Bay.

Bree didn't say no and ask him to go to Remi did she, she let him in and I don't think he was pushing for it.  He was wiling to go when she asked him to, then she changed her mind and asked him to stay, he did ask if she was sure.

The old leave the door open/unlocked ploy. Rose didn't need to see anything - she heard enough to know what was going on.?  She did make a very discreet withdrawal though, how did she know when it was safe to go home? He shouldn't have been surprised she teased him about it the next day.  OK Stacey may have other people to go on dates with, assuming it is blokes/women or both, but Xander doesn't have many other women he could date, haven't seen him with many other females even at work.  He can only give it a go, it doesn't suit everyone which Stacey recognises.

Wasn't it Marilyn supposed to be going to the community kitchen - only it seems Roo has steamrollered her way into it as she does and Marilyn has been left at home.?   Where is the money coming from for these projects they are planning, the charity won't that much spare cash to flash about.   Now that's an idea, give the homeless a written English test, if they pass they get a meal.?

Well, even after yesterday's episode I was still convinced Gary was going to turn out to be an evil villain but, no - or at least, not so far, it seems. What we got was probably more interesting. In fact I've got to say this episode's probably the most interested I've been in Felicity and Cash since... they arrived? Which just goes to show how much power the fostering template holds, I think. Suddenly they stopped just being random siblings who had romances and crime dramas, and started feeling real to me. Who knew? It's not to say I entirely understand Felicity's attitude towards Gary, but I actually wanted to and was listening to every scene for the first time in I don't know how long. This is what we need more of - intergenerational connections between characters that actually feel significant.

Alf's episode count this week:Three.

We still haven't seen Gary and Felicity alone together, which is the real litmus test, but they both sounded very sincere in their description of their history together, so it'd be a real surprise if there turns out to be something else going on now.Gary certainly seemed to be holding court with Rose, and yes, he got to meet "the other John Palmer". So it seems Felicity's attitude is about her guilt rather than Gary doing something wrong, although she does need to stop and think about whether the best way to handle that guilt is to carry on rejecting Gary. After insisting it wouldn't work last episode, it turns out that Cash having an honest, adult chat with Felicity actually was a better way to get her to talk to Gary than just springing him on her. I'm not sure if Cash and Felicity have gelled as siblings as well as some people have, but I do believe they care for each other despite not having a lot in common.

Seems that Marilyn and Roo's jack of all trades behaviour last episode was deliberate, given that Irene pointed it out here. The outcome was a bit of a swerve: I thought the idea was to actually get out and help people, not organise another fundraiser which we know they can do (Roo especially). Unless they're actually going to run the second food truck once they've bought it?

Yeh 'old' John Palmer met 'new' John Palmer.??   Bet TPTB couldn't resist.

From what we have learnt it seems Felicity  had the problem, we did learn Gary was the best friend of Cash and Felicity's dad and he and his wife Grace took them in, she kept running away and causing strife.  I will put it down to the fact she couldn't accept what her dad had done, she was a hormonal teenager and hadn't long lost her mum, shows how much Felicity has grown emotionally wiling to admit she treated them both so badly to and want to make amends. She did tell Jas her dad had been shot by gangsters so that was how hard to accept he'd killed himself. Gary I think is a decent guy and it didn't seem any funny business went on, we shouldn't always assume a new guy/gal is gong to be a bad 'un.  Sounded very touching when he reminded Cash of when he found Felicity sleeping in her dad's Ute and just covered her up rather than bringing her indoors. I do remember Cash going to visit their father's grave each year and Flick always refused, guess he stayed at Gary and Grace's - another reason for her not to go.  OK we wouldn't have expected big hugs but the reconciliation seemed just right.

As an complete aside I did like her dress. Oh and she was back working, does she know about all the hoo ha with Lyrik?

Rose seemed very admiring of Gary, picked his brains a bit, but it was sad when he 'confessed' to Cash he had the chance to move  to the city, but decided to stay to look after him and Felicity.  She's been in the city if course but was giving small town coppering a go, liking it better than she thought she would, seeing how different it is, you get to know the locals and isn't as tame as she thought it would be. He thanked her for looking after and out for Cash after his stabbing.  Cash does have his disaplinary  hearing coming up.

Leah is the other one doing the Community Kitchen, did they elbow Marilyn out of the way, draw straws? I guess if one truck is out of commission they can't take on as many people they would normally to run it? Seems a good, logical idea to buy one, new or a good second hand to give them. I have read what the idea is to raise the money and it does sound like it good be amusing. ?

I'd love if the people at 7 dropped a trailer like this:

Shane: G'Day, I'm John Palmer.

Peter: G' Day. I'm John Palmer.

Shane: No, No. You can't be John Palmer!

Peter: I was John Palmer *first*!

Shane: I'm John Palmer *now*!

Ray/Alf: Strewth! *One* Flamin' John Palmer's enough for this town! Give me strength...

I do find myself in agreement with Pembie in that not having Jacob around doesn't really do this domestic abuse storyline any favours.  If he's just a guest character the writers can surely bring an end to the storyline relatively quickly.  However I'm really not happy about Bree and Remi sleeping together.  I mentioned before this storyline should be more about her than them potentially engaging in something romantic.  And I also fear she may become dependant on him.

I also kind of agree with the comments about Lyric.  I don't like them collectively.  I'm not keen on Kirby.  Don't find her very interesting and don't like her and Theo as a couple.  Remi is OK although again not keen on him and Bree getting together right now.  Eden I've found slightly better since we've had more of a backstory with Felicity and Cash.

From what I've seen so far, I really like Gary and ended up feeling sorry for him after I heard how Felicity acted towards him even though it seems he was a very loving foster parent.  But we'll see if there's more to this than meets the eye.

?I loved it. That must have been a bit surreal for Peter and Shane.  How many takes did it take for them to not burst out laughing, instead of just a friendly 'hello' smile.  Yeh, poor old Alf, he definitely couldn't have taken that stress.
