Channel 5 were having to pay ridiculous amounts for Fremantle to make the show, just like the BBC did before them. Home and Away is a big enough success for Channel 7 that they can make it without a UK backer.
16770052 Posted November 2, 2022 Report Posted November 2, 2022 The problems with gay characters is that they can’t swap partners unless there are like 4 gay characters. That’s why they went with bisexual characters like Charlie and Willow who can just jump right back with a man if needed. Also the show probably wants its characters to be “macho” and they unfortunately believe that a bisexual male won’t be appealing. I strongly disagree but that’s why I believe all the main bisexuals are women. I think the best solution would be to have an older gay couple with children (and that can also bring back the fostering element). I think Ben and Maggie would have been perfect as a same sex couple as all their storylines would have worked regardless.
