I have to say I’m getting back to a period of characters I feel some kind of fondness towards again now we’re moving nearer the present day. Tori (aside from the impregnating without consent) and the Colby/Dean/Willow family unit (just not the part where Colby’s a murderer).

Spoke too soon, by the 2020 episode Colby is in full dick mode.

Saul was a devious bastard, wasn't he? (In his defence, Chloe was looking pretty in that ep)

Red must have been like ? with the whole Sky diving bit

The show just felt a bit more "human" in this era.

So yep, last two episodes are 7619 and 7742. (Was the former the Olympic Cliffhanger or have I made that up?) I'm not sure we really needed two episodes focusing on Mia, one of the worst characters in recent years if not ever, but there we go. Watching it at this speed makes Ziggy's partner hopping patently obvious, which is why I can never take her and Dean seriously. And another episode of Nikau being a total tool and me wondering why a reasonably intelligent and successful girl like Bella went for...that. I must admit laughing out loud at the slow motion car roll and then at the "No animals were harmed" disclaimer.

With the choices of being married to Mia and death, Ari probably got the better deal, although I was surprised at how moving his passing was, even if it was more down to the other Paratas than his unconvincing insta-family. Still a few laughable elements but again I'm focusing on the side stuff like Bella and Felicity's scene and the interplay between Leah and Justin in the first episode.

And that's that. back to normal on Monday!

I have to say I’ve found the double episodes a real chore this week, although I went out for 2 days and when I watched 2013, 2014 wasn’t there so then had 7 to watch to catch up, but didn’t really want to watch them, just felt like I’d got that far so may as well carry on. It would’ve been good to know or for them just to load them all up at the start.

The doubles are probably a clap back at people complaining about being ?ed with cliffhangers the last few times they raided the archives

They were doubles from different years, i.e. 1 episode each from 2015 and 2016 being released on the same day, not like the two consecutive episodes from the bus crash in 2002.  We still had the cliffhanger of the explosion at the hospital fundraiser in 2016 and Dean's car rolling and coming to rest on some rocks next to a big drop in 2021 with the next episode after those not being available.

Jude getting  all funny over Charlotte with someone else (even if it is in his head) is kind hypocritical given the course of the story

(Yeah,  I'm in the right topic this time)

Were Jude and Shauna still a couple when Shauna had feelings or something for Flynn?  Maybe Charlotte confiding in Flynn bothered him because of that.

Yes you are correct. 7619 was the Olympic cliffhanger.

They were, yes. I don't think it affected Jude and Flynn's friendship, but I guess there might have been some underlying feelings.
