The bomg going off was shown on 7Plus some years back when they did Home and Away: Most Shocking Moments

Ah, okay. Still, I imagine most UK viewers would be unaware of that (as I was!) so it's a long time since we've got to see it!

Re Dieter and Melissa, I suspect the tension between them has been both exaggerated and downplayed in the past, but they were always too good actors to let it show on screen.

Did we already know it was Leah and Vinnie's wedding for 2001 or not? I seem to remember the 2002 bus crash being mentioned, which is another one that's been repeated before.

Before I forget again: I was pleased to see Shane Withington doing one of the intros, since he always seems curious absent from the Channel 5 bumpers. Kirsty Marillier was a bit of a surprising choice to introduce a 90s episode but good to get the newer cast involved, I guess?

Just watched the 1997 episode, which was the first time I'd seen it since it was broadcast.Shame that so many of the greats from the mid-90s were still around but not in the episode.Selina only appears fleetingly, we ironically hear Shannon in a flashback to the previous episode on the selection, and Pippa and Sally are absent completely, with Pippa in a coma at the time! Still, we get Joey and Casey from the rather neglected follow-up teen group, plus Chloe and Jesse, the latter of whom looks scarily young in the 90s compared to just five years later.

Unfortunately, the advertised plot was the least interesting thing on show.It doesn't help that I'm sick to the back teeth of Marilyn in the current episodes, so another episode of her acting like a child, which was already grating in the late 90s, was the last thing I needed. At least we'll have a break from her soon... The typically over-dramatic music didn't have a clue what to do with Donald doing a pratfall on thinking she'd drowned!

On the plus side, Saul Bennett, possibly the greatest Home and Away villain ever, managing to be smooth as silk and then drop the act completely to spit bile at Irene. Kudos to Chloe for well and truly winning their staring contest!

Well, I remembered all the beats of Kelly's exit but I was surprised firstly by how little she was in the episode and secondly by the fact she wasn't even in the last scene. I was convinced the episode ended on Travis reading her goodbye letter over a shot of Kelly driving out of town but nope. Doubly odd given that I remember the actual last scenes of Joey going back to the commune with an irreverent "Take me to your leader" perfectly!

It's very exciting to watch late-90s episodes again - although I think they made a mistake in the description for the episode where Donald proposes to Marilyn. Donald and Marilyn aren't even in it and instead it's about Angel/Simon, Kelly diagnosing Stephanie with bubonic plague, and Casey being Casey... Very fun to see, though. And we've got the two cyclone episodes from 1997! I wish they continued up to Selina's wedding/kidnap, but I'm not going to complain with what we've got. Hopefully, 7+ will do more of this.

I came on here to post the same thing about the Donald proposing to Marilyn episode. I am going to contact 7Plus to see if this can be amended, I was just going to watch a few more in case there were others that needed to be "reported" at the same time.

I hope to see more late nineties episodes too - sticking to the four categories, I'd love to see the earthquake (1997), Ken's death (2000), Sally's aborted wedding (2000), Ailsa and Duncan's car accident (1999), Peta and Edward's "wedding" (2000) and perhaps the episode in which Sally went missing in a boat accident. I can't remember the details, but I remember everyone thinking she was dead but a man was holding her captive to replace his dead daughter or something like that?

If space is an issue, I would be willing to sacrifice some of the recent episodes, especially guest character deaths and tragedies, but it makes sense that 7Plus gear it more towards their current audience.

Are you talking about late 1996 when the Year 12s had a party at the Beach House, Sally got upset, and she, Selina and Shannon ended up on Liam's raft. Yes, that would be good to see, but it was a pretty long story (over a few weeks), wasn't it?

The earthquake being missing is quite a noticeable absence, in my opinion.

I would like 7+ to add an Arrivals and Departures category as well, but I know I shouldn't be greedy.

That's the one! I remember Shannon and Selina also being involved, but the rest of it is all a little vague for me.

I agree about arrivals and departures too! Leah's arrival is now a highlight now given how long she has stayed, as are the final regular appearance of long-running characters like Pippa, Sally and Don.

Yes we need an arrivals and departures section I would love to see Pippa's final episode and the arrival of Noah to name a couple

That was a big part of Stevo's exit arc as he was the one who found her, got to the hospital then blew town for nearly a year

So much so it was labelled on My5 as Marilyn Skydiving.

The video quality of the 1996 & 1997 episodes seems worse than the earlier episodes.

Saul’s commune had a very similar layout to the Drop in Centre, it was only the part at the very back where Shelley’s office would have been which looked different and parts of that looked like the extension which appeared later on to the back patio at Leah’s (Travis’s) House.
