Ah yes, the musical Shane allegedly ruined. Shane was made to apologise to Tug, Luke, and everybody else, if he was to be let out of the Summer Bay Doghouse. The fact that Tug had Shane put in jail seems to be overlooked, it was all Shane's fault. Tug didn't play a part in ruining the show by jumping up on stage to thump Shane one on stage in front of everyone?

As H&A is 36 now, I guess any year from Jan 1988 to all of 2000 could be considered the early years. They did alter the premise a bit in 2000/2001 as I guess the old format was becoming a bit stale, so introduced the drop in centre with the Sutherland's.

To think Leah started off very extroverted and chatty, and probably came across as insufferably boring to more introverted characters to becoming more quieter herself.

He didn't come out unscathed either.

Alf gave Tug a good bollocking for ruining his strides ("*Hot* Coffee! That's what I'm talkin' about!")

Nick chewed him out but got roasted back ("That's Big from a bloke in a dress!") Fave part is where Bruce/Nick looks down at the skirt portion!🤣

Sarah kicked him to the kerb.

Some would argue Tug got his and if it wasn't this, it was his life falling apart after Roy and his reappearance.

Also one early years threat that often cracks me up:

"You're Dog meat!"

I actually enjoyed H&A early years more in 1988-1989 becouse we had more older characters like Neville and Floss and Celia and Morag and I understand why writers wanted to concentrate on younger characters given that’s how they felt they get more viewers but just felt more like stronger soap opera when they had wider range of characters.

But do think Neville and Floss were limited to stories as Celia and Morag were more well rounded characters.

It’s shame Morag and Bobby never gotten to some level of truce and not saying they should become into loving Mother and Daughter relationship overnight  but at least grow to understand each other more.

The first year and a half catered for all ages, while the show did have quite a few younger characters in 1988-1989 we did have more characters above 40 such as Tom, Don, Alf, Floss, Neville, Coleen, Celia and Morag. And even Ailsa and Pippa seemed like late 40s but were only supposed to be about late 30s. And the younger characters interacted with the older ones a lot.

Rewatching the 1988 episodes... It's easy to forget how well spoken/posh some of the older often one-time/guest characters sounded... Very similar in Prisoner (I noticed this during my rewatch in 2017 and again in my recent rewatch 2022 - present). Fisher's the only main character who retains his well spoken accent throughout the show, which I understand.

Also, reading that Dave Worthington worked on some of the eps makes this rewatch even cooler. Noticed his name in the opening credits in Prisoner.

I wonder if I'll see the Grace Bros. Removals, Travelodge and Ansett logos in the Home and Away closing credits? Haha! Just kidding! XD

I can't think of anything more hideous as a prospect which never was... The fun of Morag/Bobby was seeing them hate on each other; Corny & Nicky were so good at playing that up too. I'd love to have seen them on-screen together again but definitely not as some loving Mother/Daughter... Where's the entertainment in that? Or... Maybe I just love bitchy "camporama" too much! 😅

Morag: That's quite enough out of you, you little insect!

Bobby: *mockingl* I won't do it again, Mummy. Please don't spank me! *wiggles bum at her*

Morag: You! *launches boot, lands on her own arse*

(Thaty kind of thing?)_

Just got done watching Episode 8 and I never realized how strict Tom was, he always seemed like a joker, but then again, I watched bits and pieces of the 1988 reruns in 2009/2010, so I didn't see much.

I know Michael was quite strict, but didn't think Tom was too.
