Maybe the experience of managing a caravan park, fostering kids and being active in the community was enough. She had been involved with the P&C so she would've had some insight into the workings of the school system. It depends what the job spec was...

In the real world, somebody like Pippa would've ended up working in a supermarket or similar but that was never going to happen here. This reads more like one of those clichéd films we've all seen. The one where the dowdy girl with horn-rimmed glasses and awful clothes gets a makeover and ends up running the company and snaring a gorgeous man along the way. To be fair, it wasn't a bad thing to do here, because things had become stale at the caravan park. I sometimes wonder would they have explored the idea of Vanessa Downing's Pippa as a single parent if she hadn't left so quickly after Roger?

I wonder why Pippa just didn’t start work at the diner at least then her hours would be more flexible.  Working in the  diner suits her skills more .

She was also a former nurse, so she could have found work at the hospital too. The shift work might not have been great, but at least she could choose her hours since it's not a 9-5 job.

I suspect they would have. She certainly wouldn't have remarried so quickly. I think the change in Pippa gave the producers the opportunity to "reset" Summer Bay House, since the new Pippa was further removed from Tom. If that makes sense.

Was never far from her mind at least in the 2000s though.

Although Pippa was a nurse, wouldn't she have needed to do some sort of retraining or refreshing before she could return to the workforce? She would've had more flexibility to do that when she was married and had a husband at home who could carry the extra load. As a widow, she no longer had that support structure.

It was classic nepotism... Pippa was Don's friend, they'd been through a lot together and he had a soft spot / high respect for her. There were likely much better candidates in the queue who were pushed out of joint for the sake of Pippa and her questionable CV / résumé!

Was the job Pippa took the same one which Joanne Brennan had previously held? If it was, you can understand why Donald opted for somebody who wouldn't deal drugs to the kids or accuse him of sexual harassment.

Correct and good point! A fostering housewife with a nursing diploma and a caravan park is surely a safer bet than a drug dealer for sure!

You know when you literally hadn't even thought about a character in your mind for like 10 years? Whilst you hadn't forgotten them? Well, Jo Brennan was one of them for me!

"Joanna Brennan? Strewth! Well.... Stone the flamin' crows, that's a blast from the flamim' past eh, Irene!"

And then Irene got the job when Pippa left, despite being completely IT illiterate. I remember someone playing on a prank her by changing the font colour on her Word documents to white so Irene thought she'd lost all her work.

Like Pippa, surely there would have been more qualified and experienced candidates...

Last heard of her, she left with a Zillionaire (no s***, he was credited as such😁)

"That girl could fall arse-over-tit into a barrel of muck and come up smellin' of roses!"
