What things never made sense to you on Home and Away?

I wonder what happened to it in the end? I doubt very much that it still exists. It'd be fitting if it left this earth with a whimper rather than a bang. I'd say it fell into a bin, was destroyed by a huge mug of coffee or is now stuck behind some heavy bookcase, never to be seen again.

Or maybe it got jacked by a crew member for spite and they aren't saying a word (these things happen)

How close is Yabbie Creek to Summer Bay now? Does anybody know what size it is now?

The writers/producers didn't major in geography? How far is the Hornsby Court House from the Summer Bay Peninsula? Pity they didn't have Google Maps back in those days

Home and Away is one of those soaps where there's no fixed idea of where everything is: There's no standing set or single location to pin everything down, and where things are in relation to each other in real life may not reflect where they are in-story (especially when they've used several different locations for the same place). So it's basically down to what each writing team at the time decides.

So true, very Simpsons like! In 1989, Alf implies that Summer Bay is south of Sydney when Palm Beach and its environs are some distance to the north.

In fact, the only early giveaways to it being set in NSW are the "New South Wales Police" cars and uniforms or the kids sitting for the HSC (as opposed to the VCE etc).

As @Homeandawayfan. or @j.laur5 would put it with one of their trademark analogies, "Summer Bay was the Springfield of Australia!".

EastEnders is the same as H&A in that regard, there is no fixed location as to where in the East End Walford is supposed to be. Recently we have been lead to think it is the Bromley By Bow area but past refs have differed. In 1985 Lofty said there is no countryside within 10 miles of here hinting Walford was near Stepney, but later refs hint it was near Walthamstow or Leyton, or even as far out as Dagenham. "Walford" is a combination of Walthamstow and Stratford. But when we see scenes on the roof of the Vic that breaks the 4th wall as it looks nothing like London outside Albert Square, and we even see countryside when it is supposed to be inner city. As the show is filmed well away from the real East End, when they do film in and around Elstree and Borehamwood it looks to green, open and suburban. The real East End is full of high rise buildings and huge bulky office/residential blocks and skyscrapers.

Latest gauge of distance we had was "a 10 minute drive" - which is yet another decrease on the 20mins mentioned a few years ago.

Though we're at the point where any character that works in Yabbie Creek is constantly getting their coffees from the diner, or talking and walking through the bay on their short breaks, anyway. Rose recently admitted that she was on her third coffee from the diner in one particular shift.

Because there's nowhere in the much bigger Yabbie Creek to take a walk or grab a drink...
