It would be a good idea if we had to agree to terms and conditions before we join. At least we can throw that back in their face if they break the rules and they are banned. They cannot contest it that way. :)

Sorry if I am too slow here! :P

You do have to agree to terms and conditions. You have to check a little box and can't join unless you do. :)

Hmm, I don't remember doing it though! Maybe when PMing someone you could mention the ticked box?

I dunno, but I think it would be grounds for instant banning for a day or two! :)

Just a suggestion

Yeah, that's what I think too. It's so long ago since I joined that I can't remember, but I'm sure there's a disclaimer of some sort. A temporary ban would be perfect! :P

There are a couple of invision free boards (and paid ones) that threaten bans for a short period of time depending on the offense, and for continued offenses it gets more and more. Serious offences carry a lifetime ban or something, but not just ban the username, ban the ip address!

Or maybe I am too harsh

Dang! Oh well, worth a shot. Just sick of uneducated people not caring about others and talking in dumb speak. I mean come on, we don't have a friggin limit of characters!

Did this not work? Does it still happen? If not, how come?

Does what work?

Well, 1. A member joins after agreeing with terms and conditions. Said member breakds the rules (not only the spag rule).

2. Said member gets a PM with a polite request to read the rules (w/link).

3. Member breaks the rules again, and gets a warning which is logged in the mod-forum.

4. Depending on the severity of the offence, ie. member abuse, the member has two more warnings "to go" - in all 3 warnings (unless it's serious).

5. When the members has used all his warning, he will get a temp. ban.

6. If the member still breaks the rules, it's a perm. ban.

Fair enough. But I think they only need one warning, then start the temp bans. Even if it starts at a day, then work up.

Current system seems so soft (no offense). The more members you have the stricter you might need to become, as people could walk all over this.

Just my small minded opinion. :)
