I don't mind paying for books either, and unlike other students I don't sell mine, as I know I will find use for them some time. I would never sell my English grammar book, for instance. I'm not self-sufficient yet, as I work 40 hours without any wages trying to make the café survive through it's first year. The last owner managed to completely wreck its reputation, so we have to build that up again.

What annoys me about the uni system in the uk is that the amount of fees you have to pay is based on what your parents earn. My parents never intended to pay my fees and personally I don't think they should have to, but the universities assume that if they can afford it they'll be happy to pay. In the end they paid for me purely because I couldn't have afforded to go otherwise.

That's bang out of order! It's hard to blieve people like that were once your friends. I had a fall out with my best friend about 5 months ago, and we haven't spoke since. It upsets me when I think about it, but I don't let it get to me anymore. And even though we aren't talking, I don't *think* she'd ever tell anyone something personal I'd told her.

This is why I gave up having friends years ago. They are too much hardwork and only stab you in the back when things go wrong.

Stick to imaginary friends. You can argue with them but you'll always make up... unless they steal all the chocolate <_<
