claire_louise Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 It's really cold in the UK at the moment and yesterday in school the maximum temperature in any of the classrooms was 8C. The legal minimum temperature for classrooms in schools in the UK is 18C, so what the school was doing is actually illegal. We told the teachers and they agreed but said that there was nothing that they could do because our headteacher refused to turn the heating on because he said it was "warm enough" and he wanted to save money! Surprise, surprise his office was warm and toasty! Idiot. We can't afford to miss any school, we have AS-modules (very important exams) in January and there's barely enough time to cover everything as it is! I'm dreading school on Monday... Isn't there someone higher up you can complain to? Like the local education authority or something? You shouldn't put up with that, it's disgraceful.

We could take it to the board of governors, I suppose, but that would involve getting it through the Head first, and since his office is like an oven, I don't think we'd have much success with that one. He's just happy because it means all the younger ones are wearing their blazers!

I researched the Disability Discriminations Act, which was a ****ing hard subject to learn about. I made a poster out of the information and that took 3 weeks because I had to redo it. I also had to write out a questionnaire about it. I'm also supposed to be doing a mini talk on it but haven't got round to doing it yet, because every week either the others don't turn up or my partner doesn't show. I done all that on my own when it was supposed to be a joint effort with someone else.
