The 'have a moan' thread

I can't hardly even remember what it's like to stuff myself. Since my IBS developed I've found it impossible to eat large amounts without feeling terrible for days, sometimes weeks, afterwards. It kind of sucks at Christmas because I find myself missing out on loads of good stuff. :( I guess that's my moan for today lol.

Eat small amounts every few hours. That's what I do and it feels so much better than just eating 3 big meals a day. :) I have a small breakfast, a tiny lunch, a snack, then a small dinner, then another snack... then top it off with the medication. Feels so gooood!

Thanks Cal. I only eat smallish meals anyway because I can't manage anything else. It's hard because I have a normal appetite so I really want to eat normal portions, but I have to force myself not to because the after-effects are too painful. I find myself goggle-eyed over the amount healthy people can eat - how on earth do they manage it?

I have to write 3 essay's on Othello.. Maybe I should start it soon. I really don't want too. I can't wait until I am finished with school and exams!! :(

Oh God. Othello! I kinda forgot to bring it home over Christmas to read it.... oops...

:( That and my accounting book are the only things I brought home for the break. Not the best idea since my mocks are like 3 weeks after I come back

I've developed IBS and I'm really struggling to know what to eat. Do you have any suggestion, Claire? :)

I don't think I'm the best person to ask really! With some people there are certain foods that trigger it, but with me it's pretty much everything. Bread is a common trigger, and anything with wheat in it (so cake, cereals and cereal bars, biscuits, crackers etc). Some people find that cow's dairy affects them too. I tried a gluten, wheat and dairy free diet a while back but for me personally it didn't make any difference. Eating regular meals, especially breakfast, is important (but difficult when you feel like c**p). Have you been tested for coeliac disease?

Well, you should get it checked just in case. I have to go in for Bowel check-ups every now and then. It's not pleasant, but at least it's for your own good. If you have Crohn's, you have a higher chance of getting Colon Cancer. But I'm not sure how it is with IBS. I guess it could be the same?

Well, 2007 is ending on a positive note...NOT...my cat has gone missing. We last saw him on Saturday morning, he had some food, was let out and since then, we haven't seen him. You probably think i'm over-reacting, but it's very out of character for him to just wander off and not come back. The longest he's been away is just overnight, but even then he comes in for food. I'm getting really worried about him. There's four possibilities really...1. He's injured and can't make his way back home. I don't even want to think about that one. 2. He's lost. Cats have a great sense of direction though and Noodles is one of them...3...Someone's seen him and taken him in, and hasn't taken him to the vets to see if he has a microchip (which he has)...or 4... Someone's catnapped him. Again, I don't want to think about that possibility, it would break my heart.

Any four of those is possible. I know cats at his age (just over 2 years old) start to get more adventurous and everything, but for him to be gone for three days is completely and utterly out of character. He would usually be snuggled up in his bed right now, but instead he's out in the freezing wheather. At least he's got some fat on him and he's a hunter, so he shouldn't be hungry. It will be a case of putting up posters in the next couple of days, if not today though. I can't sleep because i'm so worried about him, so i'm just trying to put my mind on other things, however difficult that is proving to be.

Thank you :). I'm very sorry to hear that you've had a similar experience. It's comforting to know that others have been in the same/similar situation. The thought of anything bad happening to any animal is just heartbreaking. I'm not a particularly emotional person, but when it comes to animals and the thought of dreadful things happening to them...it's a different story. I'm trying to stay positive though, it's just because he's never been away for such a long time that i'm starting to panic, or should I say...I am ALREADY panicking! It would be useful if he was scared of fireworks actually (with it being New Year's Eve), perhaps he would come out from wherever he is! He's a tough boy though and doesn't get scared by anything...apart from the hairdryer!
