The 'have a moan' thread

That's so bad. The whole housemates-while-at-uni fiasco is a pain in the neck. It's made me so stressed as well. I can't believe your "friends" didn't give you more notice they were changing their plans, especially the one who decided he was moving out two weeks ago.

I am moving into a two-bed flat next year with a girl from my course, after I fell out with my flatmates from this year (in halls so just people I was randomly put with) and don't want to move in with them next year. A few weeks ago they all fell out again and I am back in favour now (it's like being in primary school. Who knew uni students could be such tw*ts? This is why I don't want to live with them.) and now they are all annoyed about having to live together. A couple of them thought it would be a brilliant idea for the three of us (notice not including my friend) looked for a place. I was like, "Umm, I've signed a contract, paid 400 quid and I don't want to live with you anyway." I couldn't believe they were even suggesting it!

Other friends of mine, who are in 3rd year, had a big illegal subletting nightmare with 2 of their housemates (they were dating, the girl moved into the guy's room and sublet hers to a friend. Those two were then paying less rent, my friends were not) and then nearly got kicked out two weeks before their dissertations were due. That was fun too.

What does annoy me though is that I will definitely have to do all this again next year as my friend has to do a year abroad in 3rd year and I don't! *screams in frustration at very thought* Of course, I will have to pass this year first if that is even going to be an issue... :P

I hope things work out for you. The people who come and look round might be nice. Will your landlady take your opinions into account? At least there's two of you and two new people so no one will be on their own.

Thanks Frankie!

Good to see I'm not the only one having these sort of issues Emma!

Sometimes it's difficult to know who to trust, it just seems people will backstab you - thankfully me and my mate are very close so we know that we're going to stick together no matter what happens.

Hopefully the landlady will give us some say in the matter - she's usually pretty good with us anyway and has treated us well. Thats another reason we don't want to move - the £3000 bathroom she's just had fitted! :P

And Manchester? That's sorted then, two new housemates!

At least you have a good friend, and you can support each other if things get too nightmareish. If your landlady is nice too then she's not going make two horrible people move in with you.

Hope things go well, let us know.

Hmm Lincoln to Birmingham and Manchester - could be an interesting experiment!

I think it would work just fine. Imagination and determination can solve almost any physical problem! :P

My moan of the day?

I'm over-worked and sleep deprived.

Mine too. *sigh* So far away.

I was looking forward to all the uni house sharing business before reading this thread
