The Washer/Dryer in our apartment is still broken, I've heard nothing from the people who were supposed to fix it before christmas (neither has the landlord who is mortified that it's still broken yet can't afford to decrease the rent to cover the cost of going across town to a laundromat).

And now my flatmate is moving out but still won't tell me when, because I have to change everything into my name/find a new flatmate/clean the whole place by the time the first trimester for uni starts in 2 weeks :(

I would tell your flatmate to either give you a date that she is moving out or that you are moving out yourself and she can do everything.... Make sure that when/if she goes the bills that are in her name are paid up till the date that she moves out and you aren't covering her share or picking up her leftover bills...

As for the washer drier start phoning the repair company everyday.. in fact two times a day.... they'll soon come out to fix it than put up with the "harrasment " of daily phonecalls and if they give you BS about needing a part or having a part on order and waiting for it to come in.....ask if they have heard of next day delivery.... And your landlord has a duty of care to ensure that all things inside the flat are of working order so a few phonecalls to him won't go amiss.... he'll soon be chasing the repair company himself!

I was the one that was actually intending to move out originally, but I was pressured by my family not to.I'm thinking that I'll compile a checklist of things that need to be done before she moves out such as redirecting her mail, cancelling all the utilities, refunding my share of the power bill credit, cleaning the room she is in, cleaning/throwing out all her stuff in the kitchen etc.+ chat to her after her boyfriend goes home (provided that it happens before she moves out).

Unfortunately the washer dryer situation isn't so simple, the people are the only ones in town which service the brand of machine we have. They came in November, and a week later phoned to make a time to fix it but..... They got the wrong part in so they had to import a part from Italy (as it's not a common brand here in NZ) which supposedly hasn't arrived. I contacted the landlord last week about things, which really annoyed her because she just wants to pay the repair bill (so she was going to contact them).I think that once she's home again, she'll come round to inspect my flatmates room(so that I can get a new tenant moving in/deductions can be made from her bond for cleaning/damage), + I'm getting my blind fixed.

+ my new moan..... Her boyfriend is down. I had less than 12 hours notice about it, I have no idea how long he is staying for, and the apartment is messy because they can't be bothered doing dishes.

The last couple of days has proved to me that you have no idea what goes on behind closed doors. Everything can appear happy on the outside but can actually be completely broken.

I have come to the point of no longer being able to look at GMTV's Ben Shephard without feeling sick; after I found out last year that he'd rather go commando than be a role model for his kids. :(
