I know this isn't Rose's call, particularly, and she's just doing what is expected of her as a police officer, but I dislike all the discussion about where Perri was, who knew about it etc before he came forward. They're only accessories to murder if it was actually murder, and I don't think they should be assuming it was simply because he legged it afterwards. I feel like the important thing is that he's come forward now, and as someone who had a restraining order out against his father I also sort of feel like there should be a presumption that the law is on his side. Yes, he shouldn't have gone into hiding but he's been through an incredibly traumatic ordeal and I think that should be taken into account by default. And again, maybe it wasn't the best idea in the event to shower etc after what had happened, but I also sort of think that if it was really self-defence, he shouldn't have to justify himself over things like that because he wouldn't be thinking like a murderer would. I don't know, maybe that doesn't make sense legally and I get deaths have to be investigated and that we as viewers have seen more of the altercation than the police have. But it's just my gut feeling about it - I find myself feeling it's deeply unfair on him. The very fact the dad was floating in the pool is evidence that he was somewhere that, for Perri's safety, he shouldn't have been in the first place.

Abigail is being super annoying with her ridiculous hangup about Kirby. I'd like to give her the benefit of the doubt and assume there's more to it, but it doesn't seem so from what we've seen so far.

The more the personality vacuum that is Harper becomes involved in a storyline, the less interest I have, which has been the problem with Perri pretty much from the start. It doesn't help that we still have Tane griping about the police not putting Carl away and ignoring the fact that it's partly down to him abandoning Perri in court to go running to Harper's side just because Dana was being melodramatic.Anyway, for all Tane's grumbling, Perri's lawyer does seem professional if nothing else. How competent she is remains to be seen.I do agree that the "accessory to murder" thing (and, indeed, the way people are throwing the word "murder" around) is rather overblown, although they're guilty of assisting a fugitive and lying to the police at least.

I've been on Justin's side up until now but ye gods, he really was looking for something to object to here: Leah makes perfectly innocent small talk and he treats it like an accusation. Marilyn was being pretty annoying as per usual. So, sounds like even the characters didn't know Alf was going!

Confirmation of what we'd already suspected that Alf had gone to see Martha on the spur of the moment, not surprising after what he found out.

Irrespective  of the fact that Rose knows Tane and what type of person he is and what he could be capable of, she is having to follow police procedures same as any cop who doesn't know him would have to do.  Ditto with her questioning of Perri and now it seems Theo. That as I said before is the problem when the local cop is involved in something big like this, locals expect them to believe what they say and they aren't involved in anything bad.  She did get slammed by the once again invisible sarge before when she was lenient with Mali so has to be even more professional.

I think and I'm not totally sure, that murder is the first option the police chose when someone is found dead like Carl was.  It's not until an investigation is started that other charges can be brought, self defence, manslaughter.   We did hear from Perri what had happened, he managed to throw Carl off, he fell into the pool and he hit his head on the bottom. He, naturally panicked, and left him there.  For all he knew if he'd got him out he would have started on him again. They didn't see Carl thrusting Perri's head under water so in his mind he was willing to kill his own son. But the police can only go by the evidence, a body which had a cut on it's head, water in the lungs which showed they were alive when they hit the water.  That's what Perri has to get across to Jane was it?  He's had time to think it through now and get it straight in his mind.

Theo admitting he was him hiding Perri,  has, mostly, let Tane off the hook for harbouring a criminal/being an accessory to murder after the fact, whatever. Rose was certainly taken aback.   Now we know Perri was ready to leave town, it was Theo who suggested he hide out at the garage.   Theo hasn't been in the frame at all, but he's stepped up to the mark and gone to the cops and said it was him, not Tane, hiding a fugitive.

Harper did sort of have  an interest in Perri, wasn't she his SW before he turned 18 so would be concerned for him as she knew his history.

I guess Aunty Leah and Uncle Justin won't be best pleased, but at least it'll take their minds of their own now trivial problems.  Theo was very wise by refusing to take sides or even listen to their whinges.

I'm hoping Tane would have made a similar comment if that duty solicitor had been a young male and he'd called him a 'lad'.  It did show his age a tad, as people of my age do tend to think anyone who looks too young can't be capable of their job be it cop, doc or solicitor.  They do have to start off somewhere after all.  She may be more than  competent.

Great minds think alike Red, about Justin throwing his toys out of the pram.  It was a totally innocent question Leah asked him, what he got up when staying in the motel room, as in maybe watching TV, playing music, reading.

Maz was her usual annoying self, not just nudging Justin and Leah to talk but positively pushing them.  It would have worked if - see above.

I was pleased to see Rose being introduced to the concept of discretion and applying it almost immediately in Theo's case. In reality I don't imagine that the backstory with his dad would have gotten him off the hook, but I'll go with it because he really doesn't deserve to be charged with anything. Nor does Perri, and if his stint ends with a bleak murder conviction I will be very displeased. Glad the whole sorry scenario put Justin and Leah's bickering in perspective, anyway, and encouraged them to start moving past it.

I think Rose has, for the most part, always found a balance between professionalism and compassion. She did, after all, let Mali and Harper off the hook in similar circumstances (although Theo did more than they did), but when it comes to a potential murder charge, she's not going to have the final say, just be the one to gather evidence and pass it on to the prosecutors.Anyway, it did at least bring Justin and Leah together. It irks a bit that Theo takes all the responsibility while Tane dodges punishment again, although looking at it objectively, Tane confessing wouldn't do Perri much good. I'm glad Tane admitted he was wrong about Jane, who's cleared the first hurdle.Sadly, we still get silliness like Tane giving Harper all the credit for getting him to fight his own charges, when her involvement seemed to largely consist of acting like an idiot in court, giving him a sympathy boink and repeating some stuff Felicity told her to say. I'm sorry but killing Felicity to give Harper a free run at Tane killed any support I might have had for the pairing, and making Cash chief shipper on deck for them doesn't help.

I did like the stuff between Mackenzie and Xander; I still feel like she was let off the hook a bit much but I'm glad to see them on friendly terms anyway. There was an echo of her first scene in her "Mine, all mine" moment at Salt, except now she has a friend to come out there and share the moment with her.

My thought too would it be down to Rose to let Theo off just because Justin told her he'd been through the same ting with his dad. Wouldn't that have to come from higher up in the police echelon?  Tane hasn't dodged anything, he only found out where Perri was that day, it could have gone wrong if Perri had fled, but  he took on Tane's words about deciding who he wants to be in future.

Theo told it as it was, he came across Perri  not long after the fact, he offered to hide him in the garage while Perri wanted to run away.

As said before until a full investigation has been carried out murder is the first charge the police bring. No witnesses around only Perri's word for what happened.   The  defence will dig into Carl's past giving strength to why Perri acted the way he did. His violence to him and him breaking his AVO.  Perri can then enter  a plea of self defence.  Jane did do good,👍 she got  Perri out on bail.

Talking of Theo, he certainly has come  a long way since he first hit town, literally at times, he caused real bother and people on here wanted him gone.  But once the reason he was like he was came out, he managed to turn his life round.  He found  stability with Leah and Justin.

One good thing to come out of all this was it brought both Leah and Justin to their senses making them realise they'd been acing like idiots when their problems were very trivial.  OK Theo is  an adult so can look after himself but he had no-one to turn to to ask for advice without giving the fact a 'fugitive' was hiding in the garage.

It was  sad for Cash signing away Salt, his last link to Felicity.   Hopefully this time Mac takes better care of it though of course there will be some things that would be out of her control.  It will mean she'll be more busier than before as no-one to share shifts with. Her and Xander seem to be on a better footing, him joking about how his boss was a bit of a hard taskmaster. Cash got his cop brain working again, he did ask Harper if Tane knew she was in love with him?

The Justin and Leah story is really treading water now. They agreed to try and resolve things at the end of last episode but then Justin continues to make a song and dance out of nothing today, leaving me wishing he'd get over himself for most of the episode. Now they agree to go away to resolve things, but ominously they're going home to discuss it first. Will that lead to another pointless spat at the start of tomorrow's episode and them not going away at all? Let's hope not.

Also nominated for membership of the 'get over yourself' club is Abigail. Otherwise, not much of interest going on.
