all remaining current regulars for the Top 20, plus perennial favourites Brax and Dean. Unless someone random like Joey Rainbow has usurped a River Boy against all expectations, but not holding my breath....!

It hurts my heart to see Sally so low at 26, and then Don and Pippa each with a third of the points she accrued even lower. But I guess it demonstrates that the people engaged with the show now simply aren't, for the most part, the people who were engaged with it back in the 80s and 90s. Or at least that's my take, but maybe that's because I find so many of the current characters so uninteresting and don't really get why long-term viewers would vote for them. (Although obviously a good proportion will probably have gone for Alf, Leah, Irene, Marilyn, John in some configuration or other.)

But on the plus side, Colleen, Morag and Bobby are still inside the Top 40, and I think pretty much all of those who aren't current but have taken the other places here are earned - Ziggy, Heath and Casey, Belle, Tori, Colby and even Jasmine have all deservedly outlasted their tenures in the fandom's memory, I'd say.

I said in my previous post that there will only be two non-current characters in the Top 20. I was counting Felicity and Xander as "current", although technically they might fall just outside.

Let's also chuck Dean (yet to chart) and Ziggy (24th) in with the "current" characters. OK they weren't on screen in 2024, but yes to 2023 and [spoiler alert].

Following that logic, the top ranked past characters are 1. Brax, 2. Sally, 3. Heath, 4. Fisher, 5. Pippa, 6. Bobby, 7. Morag. That list seems sensible, no big surprises, and it sounds better than Sally coming 26th.

If Abi can rate so highly after being onscreen for such a short amount of time I guess it makes some sense that someone who has done nothing besides chase Tane around like a lovesick puppy for a year would rate highly.I actually like Abi but I'm very surprised this poll is showing such recency bias.

I'm excited for some of these write ups lol.Don't do me dirty RR1!

It actually pisses me off that characters like Harper, Dana, Xander and Rose who hardly done anything this year rated so highly i defs think that this poll should go back to fourm members only
