For their many ills, The Sun showbiz "firsts/exclusives" do tend to be correct.

Feel it was inevitable; streaming isn't really designed for open ended soap opera because it's just so easy to constantly fall behind.

Home and away was always  destined to out live  Neighbours no matter how many times Neighbours be bought back. 
 

Home and away has always been stronger show then Neighbours as Home and away has potential to develop into different directions of storyline’s  and Neighbours has always be stuck in it that’s about  it’s residents living in same street and I know people say that’s makes  closer to its roots but it’s not always good thing because got limited room for new directions .

Even though I dont agree with some off storyline’s in recent years with H&A but I still know it’s stronger soap opera and even boring episode of H&A is better then boring episode of Neighbours as you always know things will get interesting again with H&A soon but with  Neighbours can stay  dull for longest of time. 
 

Also I find characters are better written on H&A too as Neighbours has always writeen characters with overly characterised as where’s H&A tends to write characters more natural .

With how slow home and away is these days I find it is these days I’m surprised that’s not in trouble to be honest 

But streaming services have way too much choice on them movies tv shows unless they get hyped up lots of things get axed these days Having a soap on there probably isn’t going to work really

H&A did become the longest running Australian soap still in production when Neighbours ended in July 2022 but Neighbours regained the title of longest overall soap in September 2023 when it was revived. Seems H&A will regain the title again in early 2026. 

However by May 2025, H&A is probably to become the longest running continuing Australian soap, as it has never been officially off air since 17 Jan 1988, not including Xmas breaks and the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, as Neighbours also took Xmas breaks. Neighbours was axed in 2022 and off air for over  ayear until it was revived. Neighbours ran for 37 years and 4 months in its original stint, and H&A will surpass that in May 2025.

Neighbours fans don't seem to like Home & Away. If you say online that you prefer Home & Away you get heavily down voted. I said that I think Home & Away is the ultimate Australian soap because of it's better locations and scenery.
