He was hilariously thump-happy back in the early years... Always wanting to punch someone. I didn't like how he was kinda racist when it came to David (Roo's Asian boyfriend).

Celia egging him on wasn't help at all...

Her car was from another era too. We can be confident that no funny business occurred in the back seat of this passion wagon

Google Lens suggests this is a Humber Super Snipe

I love that part with the slow reveal and dramatic synth coming down and boof... Next instant her going full "Little Old Lady from Pasadena"🤣

Probably couldn't clear the rights to that song but "I wanna be Up" more than sufficed!😁

Wasn't it stated at one point that the car belonged to Alf and Celia's parents? I have a vague recollection of it anyway.

It could well be. I was impressed that the car started at the first time of asking, despite being parked up in a garage for goodness knows how long.

Celia was a great. Character  Fiona’s. Range of acting. Was tested in two very different roles. Spinster Celia. In home and away. And the acid tounged  Vera. Bennett in prisoner.

I quite liked Tom over Alf in the early years. A shame that Tom went from a major character in the first few months to a more supporting role and even then he was only in the show for 2 years as a whole. I feel like Max Ramsay in Neighbours 1985-1986, both were originally set up for a long run in the two shows but it never came to be.

I found her quite a sad character. Her life could have been so different - she'd have likely had a large family and dedicated her life to being a mother. Instead, she's mocked everyone in the town and considered an annoyance at times.

I liked both Tom and Alf. Tom was more fatherly and a stronger patriarch figure, but Alf definitely worked for the supporting role he fulfilled - authoritarian father to contrast Tom, long-term resident, friend of the Fletchers etc.

I'd actually say the roles switched when Michael came along. Alf was the warmer father figure and Michael seemed quite cold and authoritarian.
