Si-Co Posted May 14, 2005 Report Posted May 14, 2005 So is Hayley going to South America then ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> .. and she will return three stone lighter, six inches shorter and with a totally different accent. But don't worry, word has it Bec is set to return to play Hayley's twin sister when ratings start to plummet. Disclaimer: This is a in-joke for Sons and Daughters fans. Any similarity to actual fact is purely coincidental.

Andy Posted May 14, 2005 Report Posted May 14, 2005 Bec quits Logie-winning role The Courier-Mail 14 May 2005 PREGNANT, unmarried and now she's about to become unemployed. Poor old Bec Cartwright. The starlet, 21, surprised no one yesterday when she announced she would finish work on Home and Away next month. When Cartwright confirmed she was pregnant to her tennis-star fiance Lleyton Hewitt last week, industry insiders knew it was only a matter of time until she quit the popular soap. But the show must go on, as they say, and the search for her replacement has already begun. Channel 7's head of drama, John Holmes, said yesterday Cartwright's character, Hayley Lawson, could not be written out of the show. "The continued development of Hayley (who is also pregnant) is an integral part of our story-telling and must be continued," Mr Holmes said. "We will recast the character . . . as we have done a number of times during the 18 years of Home and Away's life." Cartwright and Hewitt, 23, became engaged in January and recently bought a mansion in Sydney.

Pregnant - yes, and probably happy about it. Unmarried - er, engaged. Unemployed - she's resigned, not been fired.
Andy Posted May 14, 2005 Report Posted May 14, 2005 I think they were being scarcastic and having a little dig at the fact she cant keep herself out of the papers for more then a week.
John Posted May 14, 2005 Report Posted May 14, 2005 I think they were being scarcastic and having a little dig at the fact she cant keep herself out of the papers for more then a week. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm sorry but Idon't understand all this. Doesn't an actor's profile help them to get roles etc. Don't they have to get publicity in order to enhance their profile. It's sort of like telling a plumber to avoid pipes or an electrician to avoid wires!!!
Krazy Karl Posted May 14, 2005 Report Posted May 14, 2005 Not really... there hasn't been an Australian actor, who acts locally (so not Russell Crowe), that has had such a heightened profile as Bec Cartwright.
Andy Posted May 14, 2005 Report Posted May 14, 2005 Aussie media for celebrities isnt anything like the UK media.
